20-12-2012 (day before armageddon?)
Day 27 batch 1, day 14 batch 2 (i think)
Before and after, Total defoliation of batch 1 on day 23 (from dry seed)
This is Bigbud 2 removed from my prototype hydroganics...it was topped the day before this, sry i forgot to take a pic of topping, but just the top node, so it wasnt much bigger than this...look at the length of roots for its size...think hydrohanic makes them dig deep =D
Now this seedling repotting method is experimental and i muffed up a few times till i found the correct procedure.
basically use a sieve to make a fine soil (compost and perlite in my case).
this stuff is very easy for the tap root to dig down into. (warning: super fine soil is ultra resitant to watering once gone dry)
soil is damp initially and sprayed during the shedding of the seed case, then left to go dry.
prepare new pot when its time to transfer and wet the surface of the new soil, this allowed a much better hole to be made.
pour out the dry fine grain soil whilst holding the seedling, almost nothing sticks to the roots and no root hairs get damaged if done correctly.
hold seedling roots suspended in the hole and sprinkle the dry dust gently down there with it. same soil, same soil texture and virtually no damage at all to the roots except maybe 30 seconds of light exposure.
once you have barely covered the roots with the fine soil, keep the rest for future seedlings. place a layer of normal soil over the top of the powdered soil (this accepts water better for the initial watering) this powder might possible become a dry spot later, but its at the transition zone between roots and stem so i think its harmless and may even be useful.
then water liberally, let settle, then sprinkle a fine layer of the dry dust on top (to help prevent damping and to deter gnats)
And here they are repotted, notice i put one of the healthiest looking ones in a 3L. this will help me determine gain per L so i can calculate the exact size pots i need for my strain/room
put in a tub just for symetry, stability and watering, but they are soil grow not hydroganic, even tho i bottom water.
15x2l of soil failed miserably to bottom soak a combined 10l of water. ill find my right watering volume soon, 5l next time
Ran out of soil so i didnt put all 3 in my big air pots, but i will before they get root bound.
bb2 then critical mass then delahaze (i think the dela is finally losing the battle, its just not doing much any more to stretch in any way)
ROOT PORN!!!
These look great.
who needs hydrohassle. still no PH,ppm, slime, algea, temps issues at all.
Im begining to thing the plant doesnt really care what ph the water is at unless it contains food.
seems PH is an eating issue not drink. (yeah i know hydroponics has water in it, but so does soup and thats a food)
