GG7's Indoor/Outdoor Grows!

Thanks GS!

I was reading up on BBK this morning while I was posting my strain review on it, and I did find several references related to its changing of color based on environmental conditions. Purple BBK is totally normal for the strain if subjected to cold overnight lows during the last few weeks of flowering.

So... It looks like I can add BBK to my long list of strains that turn a dark rich purple if left to finish outdoors into the middle of October up here in the High Sierra! :)

I was just out back checking trichomes on all the remaining plants, and it looks like they all have at least another 7-10 days to go before they will be ready for harvest.

Will be posting a trichome photo update here shortly. Just uploading the photos to the site now.

Stay tuned! :thankyou:

Ok don't know why my post didn't come out iPhones playing games with me!

Think you should blog your strains that change colour so I can have a peek :thumb:

Always around for your updates and harvest GG :D

:Namaste:

Blue Cheese and Urkle Trichome Photos!
Not Ready Yet... Ready Soon!

Since all the remaining plants outside went into flowering naturally and at a much slower pace than when you 12/12 them indoors, it is really tough to gauge precisely where these plants are in their flower cycle.

While most of them have nearly all cloudy trichomes when viewed with my 10x loupe, I wasn't seeing any amber trichomes. I decided to clip a few upper bud leaves off and put them under my microscope.

Here is what I saw...

Blue Cheese #1

Still seeing some clear trichomes intermixed with cloudy ones, but none of the amber concentrations that have become so common when checking BBK and GDP samples.

Purple Urkle

Same situation going on here with the Urkle flowers. Based on what I am seeing here, I am figuring at least another 7-10 days to go before these will be ready. Fortunately, we are having a nice little Indian Summer up here with temps in the low 80s! :yahoo:

PERFECT bud ripening weather and just what these plants need to finish nice, strong and POTENT! :thumb:

While some of those resin glands look amber, that is just the ambient light from the green portion of the leaf reflecting through the clear or cloudy resin.

So... Looks like we will be able to take full advantage of the summer like high pressure system over all of California this week and with any luck, everything will be ready before the next storm system comes through. :)

Thats all for now! Thanks as always for tuning in! :thanks::Namaste:

Really great to see my friend! those are going to be some beautiful plants when finished!

Really well done! I hope that indian summer holds out for you and everyone else trying to finish outdoors!

Take care!

Its been tough trying to get through all this harvesting with everything that has happened recently. What would normally be a very happy time for us as we harvest all of our various crops, has felt more like a wake without our little buddy to "help" us bring in all the tomatoes, peppers and Cannabis bud. :(

Our tomato harvest was spectacular this year! We ended up with 65 pounds of ACE, about 30 pounds of Early Girl Cherries, and 20 pounds of Heirloom. There are still a lot of green ones on all the vines, so in addition to a lot of fried green tomatos for the next few weeks, we are going to try our hand at pickling them! Never done that before with green tomatoes, so it should prove interesting! The Jalapeno harvest is still ongoing, but so far I have logged just under 20 pounds of peppers.

In terms of weather... So far so good! It only got down to 49.7 F this morning and the dewpoint and humidity levels were much drier than a few days ago. This warm weather should go a long way to helping everything along and minimizing the chances for bud rot and PM.

I just got done trimming up all the buds from GDP #3 this morning and putting it all into jars to cure. I ended up tossing the bulk of the lower branch buds cause they were pretty light and airy which I don't personally care for. What was left filled 4 quart jars to the top, so it still looks like it will be close to 6 ounces of just the rock hard dense stuff.

My hands were black by the time I got done from all the resin, and I ended up using two pairs of trimmers so that I could be soaking one in alcohol while I was using the other. They would start getting gunked up pretty fast. This stuff is so sticky! Its like trying to trim honey coated Broccoli! :laughtwo:

I'm still having a tough time dealing with the loss of Kimba, so I don't have the energy to try and utilize all aspects of the harvest like I have in the past. Its just easier right now to focus on the choice stuff and compost the rest.

Sure wish I had an outlet to donate those trimmings to someone for hash making or something though. I probably tossed well over an ounce of the sticky resin coated trimmings just now. I don't care for edibles, so Cannabutter is not something I am ever interested in unfortunately.

As far as the quality of the 5-star bud in the jars... I can already tell that GDP #3's buds are going to be the Creme Del La Creme of my GDP harvest this year! Between the three original plants I ended up with just under a pound of dried bud total. :thumb:

Man! If I could only sell that stuff, I would be rolling in the green! :cheertwo:

The collective down the mountain is asking $550.00 an ounce for their GDP, and mine is 10 times better quality than the tiny little nugs they offer from the same clone source. They grow their's indoors only though, so that really shows what a difference outdoor growing makes! ;)

Weekend Update 1
GDP #3 Dried Bud Photos

Just a quick update to show you how nicely the GDP #3 dried buds came out! They are still being cured in the jars right now, but they are really close to being ready to sample. These buds are incredibly dense, so a cup of this dense bud weighs nearly double of lighter buds like the BBK we harvested a few months back.

Here are some of the larger buds.

Thanks guys!

I wanted to let you know that I just posted a strain review for my GDP grow!

Located HERE

I sampled some of GDP #1's bud last night and WOW! Hands down the best GDP I have ever had! The taste is there, the aroma is there and most importantly... That incredible GDP BUZZ is there! :thumb:

I think all the other strains I've got curing in humidors are going to be taking a back seat to this awesome stuff for awhile! ;)

Thanks MS!

Not just the canabis that is proving to be plentiful in your garden.

I think I could settle with the purple your rolling in

I would rather grow my own than pay that much for an ounce. IMO this is why we are seeing such a lashing on dispensaries.

That is awesome. Have you talked to your local health food store? Ours specializes in buying from local growers(veggies)lol. Or if you know how to preserve foods, you can dry them or can them....that is what I do.

:bravo:Kat

Your buds are awesome and I agree with you on the resin glands, another week or so if the weather holds up. Great work!:high-five:

Thanks Man!

Based on the current forecasts it looks like we will be rain free through at least the middle of next week. I am going to try and let them go as long as possible. Most are just now in Week 7, and based on the trichomes that is about right.

Hopefully by this coming Sunday, I will be able to bring in at least a portion of what is left. Looks like it will be the BBKs and the Blue Cheese first.

The Urkles are still showing a lot of clear trichomes as of this morning's inspections.
