GG7's Indoor/Outdoor Grows!

GG7 that was really some great info on the alfalfa tea. I kinda did that on my first grow without realizing the effects it had on cannabis. A long time grower friend gave me a bunch. I dissovled it in water and did a feeding to my conf cheese plants.
I had forgotten I did that it was so long ago.
Again Thanks!!! Its information like that keeps us coming back!

:goodjob:
:peace:

My pleasure MS! Some of the credit goes to Mr. Krip for putting me on the trail of Purple Maxx in the first place! I probably would have never thought to look up all that stuff if he hadn't got the ball rolling. ;)

Glad you can use the info! Definitely let us know what your results are this next time if you decide to make some and use it. I am particularly interested in knowing if spraying that tea on a purple strain near the end of the flowering cycle will force it to turn purple if it isn't getting the right air temps to do it naturally.

Cheers. :)

I am starting the "brew" tonight. I don't have any purples... but I do have conf cheese, resin bomb and BC roadkills in the FLR tent. I am going to see if this helps as it did my first go around.
Keep it up guys as this is exactly what this site and community are all about.

WOW!!!!!!!!!!all i can say is WOW!!!!!!!!!! a lot of this is over my head and im to immobilized to do alot of this its all i can do to take care of just watering and picking bugs off my out door grow but i love to read and live vicariously thru you all it was said best this will help people for years down the road it and help make this plant safer to smoke cause you truly dont know what your smokin unless you grow yourself thanks to you all and 420 MAG for givin us this platform to express alot more than a bunch of potheads growin weed but a place for people to really change the way the world views people who use MJ for other reasons other than just getting HIGH THANK YOU THANK YOU !!!!!!!! for your time and effort it has helped me i may not be able to help with the deeper stuff that helps us grow better MJ but i can and root you on okay enough of the rant i came to see beautiful pics of that wonderful plant that we all love :Namaste: :)

GG7, not sure if it actually brings out the purple, but the purps we grow here are very vibrant, whether mountain grown or not.... I will ask some more knowledgeable oldschoolers and let you know...I do know that EVERY 15+ footer gets 50 gallons each during the cycle....

Right on Papatater! :cheer::circle-of-love:

This is a TEAM EFFORT, so everyone just needs to do what they can, when they can! There will always be someone that can pick up the slack where needed! ;) I agree that for many of us, this has become something far more than a way to get HIGH for less money! I enjoy the growing and science of this process almost more than the effects of the final product!

I use this plant for pain management so I can reduce the amount of perscription pain killers I need to take. The pain pills I get from my doc have Tylenol in them, and I worry about what all these years of taking them is doing to my poor liver!

Working in the garden helps to keep my mind off my pain and allows me to relax and I try to avoid medicating with anything when I am out there. I rarely envibe when I am working with the plants and the rest of our crops cause I have too much to remember and too much to do. The MMJ I like for pain are these Indica CouchLock type strains I am growing right now, which doesn't mix well with physical labor and concentration! At least not for me! :laughtwo:

Instead, I reward myself at the end of the day with a nice relaxing Vape session with my VaporBrothers Hands Free and a cup of Peppermint Tea! An awesome combo!

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, and I am VERY pleased that you approve of what the rest of us out here are doing on this site! :thumb:

Stay tuned! I am about to post the BBK2 harvest photos!! :yahoo:

does wonders for taste, smell, and seems tu cure faster....

Thanks GT! I would really like to know if it would help with my GDP. If not this run, definitely next year's run! I watched a video of Ken Estes a few weeks back and he was being interviewed about how he came up with the idea to create Grand Daddy Purple. In that interview he stressed the need for his original creation to get that COOL/COLD NorCal style night air overnight during the last few weeks of flowering to change color properly.

I know that there are a lot of purple strains out there now that don't need this specific environmental ingredient to bring out the purple, but when you are growing the original GDP strain like I am, you apparently do.

At least if GDP #2 fails to turn before her trichomes are so ripe I can't stand it, at least I will know why! ;)

GPD is great, have not smoke it yet. You got a nice strain too bad it's clone only. Is there a copyright when it come to strains? How come the big seed banks have not yet create seeds from this strain only plant? Feminize would be lovely.

The microscope setup you got is bad ass. Right now, I don't have the space for it or the cash to get something similar. Going for a more toy like scope. This is the specs of the Veho 400x.

Specifications
Cmos Lens 2 Mega Pixel
Compliance CE and ROHS approved
Controller High Speed DSP
Cradle Removeable cradle arm to convert to handy pen type microscope
Flicker rate 50Mhz/60hz
Light Source Built in 4 LED light to brighten dark objects (Switchable on/off)
Magnification 20-400x
Operating System Win 2000, XP & Vista 32bit and 64bit, Windows 7 32bit and 64bit and Mac O/S 10.5 and up
Power USB Powered, no PSU needed
Software Capture software included. (Twain compatible)
Software Compatibility TWAIN / VFW / Direct Show AP (Driver)
Still Capture Upto 1600x1200 (2 Mega Pixel Cmos interpolated)
Video Capture Upto 1280x960
Video file formats AVI

Look what you got me into. :high-five:
I'm sure we'll be seeing more trich porn from members soon too.

When I get the 2L SOG coco coir grow into flower, I'll be doing a comparative testing on some products like Gravity and Purple Maxx, have not try those yet so it will be interesting to see if they work or not. If they don't some people will say it's strain resistant. Ok, we'll compare it with 15 strains currently growing and see, heh. Hope my report put a conclusion; to continue purchasing the product or file a restraining order against it. Once the clones in the aero cloner take roots I'll start the comparative grow. They'll get the same nutes.

Cool! I LOVE Trichome photos as much as the next guy here on 420! Can't wait! :)

Those are VERY decent specs Twelve! If that scope can deliver them in the real world, you might be getting something reasonably close to what I get with the Celestron!

I would also strongly suggest that everyone reading this who grows, who doesn't already own one, pick up a BeLOMO Triplet 10x Loupe! I find this little gem to be an indispensable part of trichome monitoring! The loupe together with a quality scope is an awesome combo! And I really do mean BeLOMO as the brand of choice. They have been around forever and are the Rolls Royce of this form of optic, and the triplet 10 is used all over the world by jewelers and rock hounds alike! A great little tool, and under $40.00 on the web!

Sorry if I made you spend some money! :laughtwo:

But just think about all the FUN you are going to have with these optics! And WE all get to live through your trichome checking travels vicariously during your final flowering cycles! How cool is that? :thumb:

As for the GDP question...I don't know enough about the genetics behind the strain to comment much on why you can't get seeds from the original strain. I assume it is because in order to get seeds from the original female it would need to be mated with another male plant, and that would likely alter the strain and it would no longer be the Ken Estes original GDP strain that made him and the plant famous in the 420 universe?

Perhaps the same problem would arise from Hermie seeds? Too bad Ken isn't on here! I would love to be able to just ask him why! ;)

That all sound great to me Twelve! You gonna make a new journal or thread for that project? Definitely let us all know so we can sub in when ready! :thumb:

BBK #2 Harvest Photos!
The end of the line for the two original clones

I have to say that I have been knocked out by the quality of this BBK strain! When I picked up these clones along with my two original Purple Urkle clones, I didn't give them much thought. The only part of the name that stuck in my mind was "Blueberry" cause I had purchased a 1/4 of Blueberry bud from the same establishment a month earlier and liked the quality.

The "Kush" part didn't really register cause these days, there are so many names being tossed around that are not legit, I tend to blow them off as marketing hype most of the time. Although I am very familiar with the Hindu-Kush Mountains of Afghanistan as the proported ancient origins of the Indica strain, I didn't think that these two little twigs I just brought home would produce anything more than your typical smallish sized Blueberry bud.

Boy! Was I wrong about the KUSH in this Blueberry!

These plants are monster producers with over a pound of wet bud from each of them, and from plants that were flowered at 37" and 38" tall respectively! :bravo:

BBK2 is the "untopped" "natural state" clone, and as a result, the yield was a bit less and secondary colas were noticeably smaller than BBK 1 which was topped about two weeks prior being moved into my Bloom Room. Anyone planning to grow BBK... TOP IT! and TOP IT EARLY! :cheer:

OK! I know..You want to see the photos! :laughtwo:

Well...

Here they are!

The buds are now hanging in my second drying closet, having filled my first drying closet to the brim with the harvest from BBK1! I can definitely handle the incoveinience of having TOO MUCH BUD to DRY!

:yummy::partyboy::goof::dreamy:

I'll be posting another photo update tomorrow afternoon or so when I move GDP #3 off the back hill and back up to the house to continue her 100% natural flowering cycle outdoors, but further away from the forest AND the deaded Powdery Mildew Fungus!

Stay tuned, and thanks for sticking around! :thumb:

Hey GG7 :)

Fine total you have there! :high-five:

Buddy, you asked me to chime in when I had a comment for you that would help...I haven't found one yet....in fact it's me learning from you and Mr. Krip, and many others. What a great Journal Bud. :high-five:

I been browsing around and haven't really found a solid answer to my question.... So I figured I could maybe come and ask you. When cloning a strain, how many times can you clone a single mother plant? Does it start to weaken as far as potency and lose yield after so many times of cloning?

I'm loving the discussion on supplements--goes to support my theory for years--Keep It Simple Stoner. Overpriced snake oil.....Keep up the science aspect of growing. That is how we learn. Almost everyone can get dextrose and Alfalfa....and water to mix in!

King,

I just answered this question on another journal

Good morning all!
GG7 those are great pics and you should be sooo proud of both those harvest. I hope they are so potent it makes you forget your name lol :)
Simply a great harvest!
I got all necessary items to build my alfalfa brew as I am going to call it. I will documenting it from the beginning on my journal tomorrow. From the air pump all the way through to the feeding...
Can I post the link here from my journal for people to see as I don't get that much traffic yet and I think it will be good for everyone?
:peace:

That's a good question! I'm not really sure. I see that Mr. Krip has given you a link to a discussion in another thread about that very subject. I would check that out and report back! :thumb:

Thanks for the assist Mr. Krip!

From my perspective, I certainly hope that if there is a degradation, that it is a gradual one over dozens of generations of cloning.

The only anecdotal evidence to this NOT being a problem is the original clone only strain of Grand Daddy Purple. I believe that the original plant was created close to two decades ago, and people are still growing awesome bud from the strain, including yours truly, so perhaps it isn't a problem?

Wow! :thanks: OMM!! :thumb: That is high praise coming from a 420 site legend like yourself! :Namaste::love:

Just wanted to let you know that this journal is not just for technical info and grow photos. If you would like to share with us any of your insights here, feel free to do so, or just pop in and let us know what you are up to! Either is more than fine with me! :)

I'm VERY pleased that you are finding this thread a useful learning experience even for someone that has been doing this as long as you have!

Right on! :peace: :circle-of-love:

Thanks MS! :Namaste::love:

I am MORE than pleased with both BBK harvests! I am hoping that they provide a good source of the type of medicinal effect I am always looking to improve upon!

I actually jarred up the BBK1 buds last night after I signed off from here. I just happened to pop the closet and have a peek at how the BBK1's harvest was drying as I was heading to the bedroom for sleep, and they were already CRISPY!! :thedoubletake:

Well... It had been three days, but I wasn't expecting them to be that dried out considering how big they all were! I pulled out a half dozen quart jars and quickly got all the buds off the stems and into the jars. I added a couple of fresh leaves to each just in case they had gotten too dry.

Stems were not snapping, but I generally don't use that technique to determine jar time. For me, if I can squeeze a dry bud in my hand and hear and feel a crunch, while also seeing a scattering of dry leaf crumbs on the table, THEY ARE MORE THAN READY for jarring up! While I didn't actually do that to a bud, I could tell just by the slight handling I did that they were indeed CRUNCHY!

I just checked them this morning before I started posting replies here, and the moisture has returned to all "6" quart jars holding the BBK1 harvest! :thumb:

Apparently no harm done, but it was a total surprise discovery! Since I caught them in time, I have turned the low speed vent fan off on the BBK2 harvest hanging in the other closet. Our indoor humidity has been very low since the weekend from the AC running all the time. The BBK1 drying closet was sitting at 38% when I checked the temp/RGH probe in there as I pulled the buds out.

MUCH TOO LOW!! Was just too busy to check since the first day, cause of everything else going on. I learned a lesson with that! If AC has been running steady for over 18 hours, CHECK drying closets!

See what happens when you have too much going on? I was saying this to XLR8 last night, since he has not been feeling well the last couple of days and still feels compelled to keep trying to maintain his entire chore list! Sometimes, that can get you into more trouble than just pulling back, putting on the brakes for a few days and taking a look around at priorities. ;)

Got your PM!! I am off to the Doc this morning for my 3 month follow-up, so I won't be back up here till after 12 noon.

Talk to you guys when i get back! :)

Very well indeed.. Thnx to both GG7 and Mr. Krip for your responses much appreciated :-D
