Fun In The Sun 2016 - Tiger - Ape - Pitbull - Gorilla & More - Run Wild

She is looking beautiful, got that fall coloring. I had to take all mine earlier than I wanted too, but when you gotta. Well Keepem Green

I had to take all mine earlier than I wanted too, but when you gotta.

I hear ya.
I'll be taking down 2-4 plants well before they are ready. In fact, at best, I'm hoping 3 of mine are able to go long enough for me to feel they truly finished.

im in a similar situation..it was low 40s last night. low 50s tonight.
I'm happy getting anything from my outdoor grows..
most have a grape smell, some with a nutty background.
I believe some of them are Colombian Gold x Carnival x Cotton Candy

I should be getting my 5 sizes of screens for my jars today.(74, 100, 120, 149, 179micron) :)
looking to make more potent canna e juice for vape pen using the pure kief..:thumb:

4dutchess, many HB grown plants don't go amber much, if at all...:thumb:

Whats HB????
I still think if its got new white hairs or white hairs its not done because its a last ditch effort to make babies.
Also my Sour Diesel clones I read where they get funny growth at the bud tip (like a nipple) when their done. Ive noticed this happening with my yard grow starting with the ones the most done.
The ones that look done Im taking a whole bud off and look instead a piece of bud tip. Theyve been water flushed twice in a week and would like to wait one more week and give them a couple more, maybe not.
We have rain this fri and sunday, so I will be checking whole bud trics this week and maybe pulling some before Fri.
Fox Farm says a 3 day water flush is all thats needed. I want to give them more than that.
Again...... whats HB????

@Dutch
HB = high brix
Ziggy runs Doc Bud's kit. :thumb:

Thanks.
Im Ocean Forest soil so I figure I should get amber trics.
The ones that are purple with few white hairs im checking whole buds and maybe pulling before Fri.
Like many im scared of the rain but have already learned rain dosent hurt mature buds. So amber trics will dictate everything.
Not ready for High Brix yet.
As I progress in this craft 420 Mag I will use your vendors. I need to figure out how. Its all FF for the time being because of results and availability.
Namaste.

Wow dident think the head hasent developed yet, interesting. I figured its because Im too rough with them and knock them off. But I see very few amber trics on the heads that are there, they are clear to mostly cloudy with a few amber. I figure two more weeks. If they still have white hairs I figure theyre still maturing, trying one last effort to make bables. The ones with white hairs Im not even checking trics yet. My yard grows incredible!! All the grows ive done Ive wanted denser buds and got it this year!!!
Time to up pot the girls in the tent today. Looks like 7 girls total to flower out in my tent. I might throw in a fem from the dryer room.
Its so nice to communicate with and learn from experts. Thank you!!
Hold on..... so Duggan, cloudy trics with no amber is done to you?? Also Duggan Im all male my brother!!
Namaste
OK then, gotcha Dutch. With the trichs, the idea is to harvest when as many gland heads as possible , are milky, or cloudy as some say. When they turn amber , the contents have started to degrade , over ripe you could say. With growing HB like with Doc's "kit" the trichs stay milky for a longer time....amber gland heads are few . It must be because the plant is so high in sugars and minerals, perhaps they behave like a High Brix tomato in your fridge , that stays fresh and firm for weeks....ya , wtf . Hey , so it's Dutch then..? or Dutchess?..:thedoubletake:. Cheers bud!:high-five:

OK....HB simply means High Brix. Brix is a unit of measurement that measures the sugars and solids(minerals) in a given amount of juice from the produce. When this level is in the higher range like when grown in designed and tested soil , the benefits are many! I like growing in soil that i know will perform the same as it did two years ago , no guessing, no PHing , no "hit or miss" soil mixes. I've done that , i'm tired of it all. DBHBB...this means Doc Bud's High Brix Blend. With the pistils (hairs) being nice and plentifull and white, simply means she is at her sexual prime . When most (75-80%) of these have receded back to the calyx, or wither up and turn golden,...the bud is ripe. No need to look at trichs thru a loop, this is when to harvest. Have a great night .:Namaste::circle-of-love:

Mornin Major,

Are you ready for it? Looks like a strong system or two headed our way. Mother nature is gonna test your covers, hope they can hang.
Have great Wed. Major & gang.

Im picking some today. After what you say maybe more. I read allot on harvest yesterday on the computer. None of the sugar leafs are yellow yet and thats a sign its too done but only for appearance. So amber trics are degrading? Also read if the white hairs are strait and stiff then not done, wait for them white hairs to curl. I will read more today. ------------.com
Major, big rain coming from norcal north. saying hurricane force winds for Seattle. I hope all is well.
Duggan, her names Dutchess. Named her and filled out her paper work before I knew I spelled it wrong. Some times its Dutchygirl, Skinnyness, Love Child, and just plain La as in La La. Heres a pic.......

Yeah - I'm a bit freaked by the weather forecast. Not good!
This morning lil' Waldo and the two AS culls get chopped and out of my way.
On Saturday, I will also chop GASS. Hopefully LH#2 will survive the week, but I'm very concerned about the five plants in the main garden. I think the cover will shed the heavy rain OK, but we are also looking at heavy winds again. Grrr...
AS and GG4 could come down, if necessary. I'd really like to wait on AS for the following weekend and GG4 another week after that, but I'll do what I gotta do. ZD and GT are packing on buds. It would be a shame to lose them since they easily leapfrogged the two LH plants for bud size and density.

60-80 mph on the coast for tomorrow, Saturday maybe stronger, Holy :jawdropper:

Pine trees around here are good to about 70, then it can get ugly quick.

Amen to that! We lose trees each year to the wind/snow loads.
We have a large, dead cedar tree hung up in an alder tree not more than a few feet from our bridge. Eventually it will blow down, probably blocking our driveway. Shoot! I just dumped the last of some old premix for the chainsaw.

Now I get it Dutch! Thanks for that bud. 4Dutchess, ya I get it . Dutchess is your 'lad" (dog). She is a biggun bud....you better check your dog food ,...I think ya need some more....FFS's. ...she must eat a lot eh! Cheers bud! Oh and Major....fingers crossed for you with your weather concerns. Have ya got those poles on your "five" roped down good and tight!....just sayin bud. Cheers to all your hard work this year my good friend...lets hope the cover can do it's job and protect them a wee bit longer! Hope so bud ! Try and have a worry free day !:cheer::high-five:

Update (Week 35 / Bloom Week 8-ish)
~ the beginning of the end ~

As an outdoor grower, this is the time of year we plan for, and look forward to, all year long. I think each of these updates will include at least one harvest for the next few weeks. :yahoo:

I posted more info in the Rosin Press - Information Thread. I'm waiting on a pair of heating cartridges for my DIY rosin press but I may give it a workout by using an oven and heat gun while I wait. At least the PID will let me monitor the heat of the press plates. I decided to use 6" plates. My initial tests show the size of the plates has little to do with the amount of pressure needed. You do need more pressure for larger amounts of bud or kief, but you can press small amounts easily with larger plates. Once I have the heaters installed, I should be able to dial in the exact temperatures that work best for various amounts and types or material.
DIY plates cost: $15
300 watt heater cartridges cost: $9 per pair
DIY PID cost: $25
HF shop press cost (on "sale"): $99 for 12 ton, $149 for 20 ton
I already had the controller and press, but if you had to buy everything, the total cost would be about $150.

On to the first tiny harvest of the season. I deemed Waldo, the volunteer, fully baked.

These are the two AS culls. Not much to look at, and not much yield, but they should make a bunch of nugs for press tests.

All unexpected plants washed and hung.

Meanwhile, these are the two plants in pots.

This is for you, Ziggy. :cheesygrinsmiley: Because of its position, Golden Tiger is difficult to get photos of. This is the best I could get.

Zamaldelica is a beast of a plant. I estimate her at 13' tall and 10' across. She is filling out well so it looks like I will get some usable produce from her after all!

Liberty Haze #1. The love/hate continues. A beautiful plant that doesn't want to cooperate. The pinkest/purplest bud sites I've ever grown.

Ace of Spades is very close. She will come down next week assuming weather doesn't force me to take her sooner.

Gorilla Glue is still my fav'. Unfortunately she ended up with stem rot on one branch. It is all my fault. I transplanted her too deep and used a LST on her branches. As the branches got heavy, they bent down to touch the soil. My bad. At least I learned what NOT to do in the future. I've been expecting it and I am damn lucky it isn't worse, or on more plants. Between this and the squirrel gnawing on her, I'm amazed she is doing so well. I probably lost 25% of her yield, but still plenty to enjoy. You can see the old chew marks all over her. Luckily, this rotted branch was small-ish and down low, so it didn't hurt as much as it might have.

Lot's to do! Trimming. :thedoubletake:
Rosin press tests. :)

I'm as ready for the bad weather as possible. The garden cover is fragile, but I'm hopeful it will survive the weekend. What happens next is up to Mother Nature. Heavy wind and rain begins later today. Keep your fingers crossed!
:Namaste:

This just in:
Oregon outlaws "kid-friendly" cannabis names.
Goodbye to names like: Girl Scout Cookies, Cinderella 99, Candyland, Grape Ape, Charlotte’s Web, and Skywalker OG.
Oh well. It could be worse. The buds are legal. Only the names will be changed to protect the innocent.
Money well spent, I'm sure (NOT)!
