Fun In The Sun 2016 - Tiger - Ape - Pitbull - Gorilla & More - Run Wild

Pests and weather - the bane of outdoor growers everywhere.
Sorry to hear bout losing all those plants to mites, but great info for others. I hope SGG didn't give 'em to you, or if they did, they clean up their act quick. I like several of their genetics.

The photo doesn't show the usual mite damage I expect to see on the leaves. I need to read more about these hemp russet mites, but it sounds like they are spreading and becoming a huge problem both indoors and out. They are even smaller than spider mites and look pretty different. Grrrr!!!

East coast is going to get very wet next few days...

There goes their yard grow. Thank God for this norcali weather!
Ive been sketchy about mites wondering how easy it is to get? I utubed it and they talk about Russet Mites and when I ask growers by me they say russet who? So I guess they talk about spider mites? I dont want any of them. Not sure if your supposed to do preventive measures or treat when infested??
I did a few tent sprays with Azamax and I have Rosemary oil too. All is well!!

Wow Maj. Some great fall colors. Best. O. Luck. With the temperature. Sending warm waves your way. :surf:
That GASS looks so cool. Love the purple.

Thanks much! I will chop GASS either this weekend or next - not sure.

What seems odd to me is, not only GASS, but AS and GG4 all have nearly 100% milky/cloudy trichomes. AS even has a fair percentage of amber. Yet it is obviously still throwing out plenty of new pistils and the older ones are not orange or brown like last year. I think I'll let it ride a while longer and see where it goes. My concern is we will get a cold snap and I'll be chopping, washing, drying and trimming three monsters all at the same time. Our average day of first frost is October 15th, so the end is near. :rip:

I wonder if that GASS or even regular Gorilla Ape is good for indoor growing with mucho LST'ing. I'd love to try that for my next attempt if it's feasible for my situation.

Major PITA how is your blue tarp holding up for ya? Are you in the clear with the rain? Curious minds want to know and Ole Rooster1 is curious as hello, you know...:peace:
Hey Rooster!
Both covers are doing well, but neither one is blue. The main grow "tent" is white and semi opaque. It is VERY tough and looks like it will hold up well even though I'm abusing the hell out of it. The new cover for GASS and LH#2 is the usual clear 6 mil poly.

GASS is a cross of Grape Ape and Sensi Star. I've grown it indoors and it works well. It stays compact if you don't veg for long but will get to be good sized if you let it go for a few weeks. It does not stretch a lot. :thumb:

So did you get rid of the rest, Major?

The rest of the plants? If so, "No." They are all still doing well. Not sure why. I expect mold or rot any day (or a freeze), but so far so good. For this time of year, the weather forecast looks pretty good, at least for the next 1-2 weeks.

I have a bunch of photos I took this morning for an update but I probably won't get them uploaded today.
I want to let GASS go until next weekend, the 15th.
AS should be good about the following weekend, the 22nd.
With any luck, the bad weather will hold off and I can let GG4 go until the 29th.
If the two LH make it, I'm thinking they can't be ready much before November.
I'll let GT and ZD hang out as long as it makes sense.

Good to hear that. These sativas shouldn't catch mold cause they are way too early in flowering. They might not like night temps, but if they do well just let them go ahead.

I read where the Hemp Russet Mite was purposely brought here from China by the U.S. gov. just to mess with Americas cannabis growers? If so then Id imagine they were brought to Norcal's Humboldt County considering how long they've been growing. Very interesting.

Major whats a good H2o/Carb mix to finish off my plants.
And should I use this mix for the ones still a month off or follow FF schedule?
Namaste

Sorry - I can't help you with that one. I don't do anything different to finish my grows. I just try to keep 'em happy and healthy right up until the chop.

Update (Week 34 / Bloom Week 7-ish)

Photo update. Weather is holding. If a picture is worth a thousand words, this is "War and Peace". :cheesygrinsmiley:

Starting with the potted plants, this is LH #2. Pink pistils is new for my grows.

LH#1 is a beautiful plant, but too slow for me to want to grow again. Too little, too late at this latitude.

ZD(+) is packing on buds and might produce a little somethin' before a freeze puts an end to her.

GG4 is getting heavier every day and beginning to add some purple hues. It will be a race with the weather. I SO hope she can finish. GG4 and AS are both easily 8' across.

Thanks for taking the time to peruse my garden. Things should be winding down over the next several weeks.

Good morning "jungle master". Now ya need somewhere to hang all those massive buds and colas! What a problem to have eh Major.
Remember at the start , you were worried about your soil .....no worries now bud...looks to me , you got it very good . Sure hope those Sat's can give ya lil sumpin before they freeze. What a lot of work you have done this summer my friend. Maybe for a reward you can take your sweetie on a nice 7 day vacation to ...say...Jamaica this winter eh....:adore: :)
Major, can you please tell Charlie , down at the main gate to re-set the trip wires on the North side today would ya....thanks pal! Have an awesome day major and Gang!:circle-of-love:

:thanks: friends!

Closeup photos is about all I can take. There is no room to get whole plant pic's. AS is a real monster. She is only about 7' tall, but W - I - D - E. I'm pretty sure she at least 100 colas. I lost count.

I will be drying in my garage. I've already moved the cars out and put up my drying lines to hang the produce. This time of year it is a great place to dry. It stays about 60F with an average of 40% RH.

I'm pleased with the soil mix. I hope I can run it again next summer and tweak it a little. I have plenty of amendment left to "recharge" the sawdust/pumice. I plan on getting a couple of samples to a lab for testing once harvest is complete. Maybe it will help me figure out what happened to ZD and how I can improve it overall.
