Doing Oregon proud Major:thumb:

Glad the heat has taken a left at your place & is staying in the valley. Low-mid eighties is about perfect since I work outside.

Cheers Mon :ganjamon:

I did a little research. If this is truly a cabbage moth, it only lays eggs on cabbages and their close relatives. They need the specific chemical in those plants for the "pillers" to survive. And the parents both smell and taste the plants in their search to lay the eggs.

Sorry AKG - I thought I replied to your post.
I really appreciate the research! We have these all over the place but I've not had budworm in the past. It is good to know they may not be disastrous. I'm not sure they are cabbage moths but I did see a "white cabbage moth" listed when I was trying to figure out what they are. The usual cabbage moths shown are a dark grey-brown.

Very Nice Major!
I noticed you caged them in the beginning, I did too, first time. I took the first branches and tucked them under the first wire but now see theres no support. Wont do that no more. I seen how you staked and tied with string for support, nice!
It looks like this year I will be staking and supporting buds myself and Im guessing just steak and support. Maybe use zip ties or bailing wire, not sure yet. FUN!!!
I sprayed my yard grow with Safer caterpillar spray yesterday and Im glad because those moths are close to laying eggs, I can feel it! Once a week will spray.
My big question is...... should I Aza Max drench my yard grow now they have started to flower? Im leary.
Soon as the tent needs water Im drenching them and spraying them with Aza Max. Dont want mites.
Have a great day Major! And God Bless You for all your help!
Canna Montana, where you been? I miss you on my thread! Its so nice to look up and see you there! You couldent post a prettier pic! Smoke weed with Miley! Wouldent that be nice!!
Great day to all!

You gave your stalk a shot? How so ? Benefits and what not!

What do you mean by "stalk shot"? And dude, you are one lucky sonavagun to have what looks like an incredible home in such a picturesque landscape.

Very Nice Major!

Great day to all!

I hate to spray in bloom but have had to do in the past.
Do what you gotta do - sooner rather than later, IMO. Azamax is good about breaking down quickly. After a couple of days the stink goes away and within the week I can't tell anything was sprayed at all.

You saying the Aza max breaking down early is good to know, means I can use it closer to harvest.
Im sure the Safer Caterpillar spray is the same?? I think its oil based like neem/Aza?
Ive got plenty Safer so Im using it in the yard only once a week. I mixed a little heavy yesterday and all is well today.
Would you Aza Max drench while in flower?

The Safer I know about uses Bt so should be even "safer". :cheesygrinsmiley:
Like spraying, I try not to use anything in bloom, but will if I have to. I've never used Azamax as a drench in bloom, but I would if I thought I needed to. I don't have any idea what it does to the flavor (if anything), or how long it remains in the plant tissue when used as a drench. I only used it as a drench during my first grow (for root aphids) and was able to stop about the time they began to flower.

Major, would the Safer be a good 2nd weapon for mites along with Aza Max (spray)? If so what would be a 3rd. I want to write it down for reference.
I read where lemon juice is used for PH down is this ok and it has to be cheaper than store PH down??
Thank you Major for all your help!

You are very :welcome:

I didn't find Bt to be effective for mites. I believe it is supposed to work, but it didn't for me (indoor grow).
Spinosad (found in Capt. Jack's Dead Bug Brew, for example) works. Another choice is something with pyrethrin in it.

If you want to lower PH w/o using the usual stuff, I'd go with vinegar. It should be cheaper than lemon juice.

For what it's worth, responses to several questions above.

BT is strictly for caterpillars, so won't work on mites or bugs.

Rosemary oil is basically terpenes as active ingredients, so no need to rinse it off. Terpenes are absorbed into plant tissues, so you really can't wash it off. Definitely smells and tastes better than Neem oil.

I said before, Neem oil is my go-to pest control because its nontoxic to humans (unlike pyrethrins) and works on nearly everything. It's natural terpenes like rosemary, also absorbs into plant to work systemically to kill chewing insects without harming beneficial insects. Sorry if I sound a little preachy on the subject. When something works as well and safely as Neem I want to spread the word every chance I get, kind of like I do with another natural and safe remedy I use quite a bit. :rollit:

Question....... If I get clones that are on 24/7 and I switch them to 18/6 will they flower or do they have to go all the way to 12/12?
Im thinking most clones bought are on 24/7 and I will want to run 18/6

Have go all the way to 12/12 to flower. You will be fine

As Budley said, you'll be fine. Most places keep clones at 24/0 so they don't have to worry about timers and the purchaser can use any light schedule they choose. I think flowering will trigger at about 14/10. Anything with longer lights-on will keep them in veg.

Soap is not required, but it emulsifies the oil and keeps it in suspension in the water better and helps it flow on the leaves.
You can also get SNS-217 (a sponsor). It uses Rosemary oil and has the emulsifier already in it. For small infestations, a rosemary treatment might work. It wasn't very effective for me.
