Top of the mornin to ya my friend!:Namaste:

How's the weather today Major?

:thanks:
Still hot. We've been 95-100 all week, with mid 90's this weekend. Cooler weather is on the way with mid-80's by Tuesday!
Have an awesome weekend!

For what it's worth, responses to several questions above.

BT is strictly for caterpillars, so won't work on mites or bugs.

Rosemary oil is basically terpenes as active ingredients, so no need to rinse it off. Terpenes are absorbed into plant tissues, so you really can't wash it off. Definitely smells and tastes better than Neem oil.

I said before, Neem oil is my go-to pest control because its nontoxic to humans (unlike pyrethrins) and works on nearly everything. It's natural terpenes like rosemary, also absorbs into plant to work systemically to kill chewing insects without harming beneficial insects. Sorry if I sound a little preachy on the subject. When something works as well and safely as Neem I want to spread the word every chance I get, kind of like I do with another natural and safe remedy I use quite a bit. :rollit:

Thank you Kingston! Can you give me an example of a BT product? Azamax? I read where Azamax is the same as neem?

The Safer stuff you posted about uses Bt.
Azamax and Azatrol are refined from neem. The same? Not exactly, but they use the same active ingredient and mode of killing, but more concentrated.

A new pest in the garden! So far it has only attacked GASS in the veggie garden. With the amount of damage done in a single day, I have to assume it is from locusts. It/they are back-building buds for me whether I want it or not. Eat a leaf or two, and I don't really care, but whatever it is has a taste for the top of each prime bud site. I spent a fair amount of time looking the plant over and cannot find a caterpillar or anything else this morning. I'm going back once it warms up to see if I can spot whatever it is. I lost at least half a dozen of the best flower tops on it overnight. Grrr...

Not a good news, and locust often comes in hordes. I hope it's something else...

Sorry to hear that Major.:lot-o-toke:

We have plenty of them, but they seem to mainly be in the grasses in the fields. We've never had a serious problem with them in the garden before. It could be something else, but too much damage for small insects. The first thing I looked for were caterpillars. I'm going to keep looking until I find whatever it is.

Frickin' giraffes! :scratchinghead:
Better go reload the gatling. :tokin:

Sounds like caterpillars to me Major. Sucks when you cant find them. This is why I started the Safer spray last Wednesday. And will continue probably until Oct.
Im very thankful or your help Major!!
Oh.... I got a question.... should I wear sun glasses while im in with the 600w HPS? It dont bother me when Im in there but when I come out every things a little fuzzy. I take meds that can make you go blind and have to be checkd yearly to see whats up. Should I wear shades?
Namaste!

Caterpillars was my first thought as well. I've been in the garden a good part of this morning but I can't find whatever it is. The plants were sprayed a week ago so it is doesn't seem to mind.

I don't use shades, but I don't look at the light and don't spend much time with it. Shades are a good idea especially if you have other eye issues. Eyes be important!

In an enclosed space, a high-powered light or and LED panel can leave you with eyespots for a while, because your retina is overloaded. I think using shades is a good idea. Your retinas can only take so much abuse.

Dutchess you can also get hps sunglasses, which are much better than regular sunglasses. Besides protecting your eyes they correct the color so that plants look normal under the lights. They make it far easier to see problems and... everything else. Also they can double as a cheap camera filter, if you don't have other technology to correct the color balance. Prices range from about $15 up to -expensive.
