Fun In The Sun 2016 - Tiger - Ape - Pitbull - Gorilla & More - Run Wild

Dutchess you can also get hps sunglasses, which are much better than regular sunglasses. Besides protecting your eyes they correct the color so that plants look normal under the lights. They make it far easier to see problems and... everything else. Also they can double as a cheap camera filter, if you don't have other technology to correct the color balance. Prices range from about $15 up to -expensive.

My next Amazon or grow shop purchase. Thanks

Hey Major I was thinking if its caterpillars they eat the bud so it falls apart not disappears. If its the whole tip of the bud gone then maybe not caterpillars.
I have to walk around with a cup and catch all the crumbling bud. Bastards.
Maybe that will help narrow it down for you Major.
Ive only used Safer spray once before and sure I still got a few. I should still have too many with this years planned 10 day regiment. Ones too many. Ive had whole branches crumble. Bastards

I'm going to see what awaits me in the garden tomorrow. I'm hoping it was a one-off sort of thing, but I know I'm fooling myself.
It is eating the meristem about 1/2" to 1-1/2" from the tip. Either it chews through a bud, or takes the tip almost off, so it is hanging by a thread.

Could be a bird I suppose, or a bug, or a grasshopper, or a caterpillar, or .... !#$%&

Have a great night!

That must be it. No new damage today. Sasq must be full. :thumb:
I still find nothing but a few leaf hoppers. I'll see what tomorrow brings.

Major, vinegar worked great to lower PH. Is there anything simple to raise?
No signs of caterpillars yet in my yard grow but right now is when it starts
Baking soda.

Baking soda works, it's cheap, and readily available, however it adds quite a bit of sodium to your soil. Potassium carbonate or bicarbonate also works and adds 'K' which the plants want anyway. Lime works great but is slow and works better as an amendment. Another advantage to potassium bicarb is, it is one of the better choices for PM when used as a foliar.

Whats PM.... preventive measure?
Im going to google the bicarb to see what it is. Got an idea and could ask here but showing Im willing to work. Thanks Major!
I googled it. Its called Dutching! Nice. Can order 2lbs. from Amazom for $20. but I think I will try baking soda. Just looking for an alternative to store bought PH stuff.
Damn, I think FF has salts in it so maybe ordering the potassium is better. With FF maybe not good to use baking soda?
Thanks!

PM = powdery mildew

Potassium bicarbonate works as well as anything I used for PM. I've never had PM on my cannabis yet, but our grapes get it bad.

The well water at this house is so hard that when my mom lived here we used to have a water softener and a delivery guy once a month. Potassium carbonate can be purchased at the grocery store? Before the delivery guy my dad used to buy it at the grocery store maybe same stuff but its a big ol bag if I remember right.
FF says to PH their nutes and with the hard water I have Im just looking at PHing info. It seems the stores PH up takes alot and Vinager worked great to bring it down. Nice to know theres another source.

People with swimming pools who buy PH up/PH down products are getting ripped...you can buy a 50# bag of sodium bicarb for close to what you pay for a jug of pool product and a jug of muriatic acid at the hardware store is a fraction of the cost as well(although the muriatic is too strong for gardening applications...cheerz...h00k...

Drive by. I hear what ya said acouple pages back about getting what you wish for with larger plants. They can be a hassle. Alot more work than small girls. And when you get problems, they are bigger. I see all talking about caterpillars. We got tons of them here. I spray once with that Captin Jack's Brew. It works for up to 28 days so I spray once about the first of Sept and haven't seen one since. It doesn't do to good for mites etc but does it's job. As a rule, I don't spray anything except for worms unless needed. And boy do I need it this year. Russet Mites on 10' plants are hard to spray completely. Now I wish I'd have sprayed once with the onset of flowers with some neem. GL Major and hope for the best with your gardens, Keepem Green

Yes it will work as will milk or milk with sodium bicarbonate 50/50. Preventively you can also spray with bacillus subtilis (comes as many bottled products) or lactobacillus acidophilus. They both create a protection layer on the surface and will work against grey mold too.
