Back ache = medicate

:tokin:
I'm way ahead of you. :cheesygrinsmiley: :lot-o-toke:

sounds like you need extra Calcium and Mg too for your spasms..:thumb:
My back could certainly use some of that calcium "fishing rod" strength and flex right about now.

Hey Major, weekend's busy eh? Hmm I guess you could start thinking about getting a cage but a solid one with chicken wire or bean one to support these branches. You kind of do an LST and really spread these branches apart. If you get a bush like that you have to stretch it out a bit if you want them get an even exposure. Otherwise you're risking mold, broken branches and whatnot. If you want a more manage'able one you could also prune all these lower branches, focus on getting upper ones as big as you can.
It looks like I should have heeded PeeJay's advice and taken the lawnmower to a couple of them.
My plan was to trim them up today and then add some support for those that need it. Timing is everything. I missed by a day or two and now with my back out, it will not be happening in the next few days.

Hey Major,...ya, i agree with Ziggs... Good time to take a little break from outdoor stuff...rest up...chill , as they say. Great pointers from Conradino too! He's got that very valuable outdoor "mileage" and is full of knowledge on the subject. Cheers Major ....and Gang!:volcano-smiley:
No choice about taking it easy. I'm flat on my back with my favorite piece of glass close at hand. :roorrip:

:high-five: :ciao:

Major my father has spasms in the legs for years but he now takes baths w lots of epsom salts and the cramps nd spasms are much less almost nill. Hope it helps. Looking lovely over there and as a garden builder and landscape designer among other things i think your wife has a wondeful natural touch.
Thanks yogi! My wife gave me the same advice and threw me in a hot tub with lots of Epsoms yesterday. I'm doing better today. I'll let her know your of your appreciation for her "landscraping" as she calls it.

Awesome thread Major! A must for my tea time reads. Haha

:welcome: Budd!

I managed to give the big girls 4 gallons of water each this morning. Yesterday only ended up at 99F because of some overcast. About the same today.

:Namaste:

Hey Major,
Sorry to hear about your back and while your wife and High Yogi are on the right track with the epson salt soaks might I suggest another old favorite remedy. Try soaking it in Cider. You may have to think that one through but eventually you will get it :thumb:

Bummer about the branch but it is no biggie, it happens. I did steal your sheet idea for my outdoor girl, though I could not find any Egyptian 5000 thread count linens so I had to settle for the goodwill special. We hit 102 yesterday, not sure if it got any hotter than that that was the last temp I saw before I ducked into the house and refused to look outside. Man it was miserable up here.

Get better soon my friend

Update (Week 17 of Veg)

Hope you're back is feeling better my mate. Seems like a handful of us are taking a bit of a beating recently!
Thanks GL! We are indeed. I hope you are on the mend as well. :thanks:

I took it seriously and I'm on it! Mrs. PITA  even gave me a good ol' back massage a couple of days ago. :high-five:

As usual, not a lot to talk about. The broken branch on AS appears to have not missed a beat. You can see my emergency support structure below. I still haven't gotten in there and trimmed any of them up. Between my back and the heat, it just didn't happen. My back is on the mend - not a 100% yet, but much better.

The weather rollercoaster we've been riding is taking a big drop. We'll go from 100 down to 65 in three days. Cool with possible rain for this weekend. All plants have preflowers now, but with the solstice only about a week-and-a-half away, I'm not concerned. Other than that, they have been drinking like fish and growing, but nothing else to report.

Out of curiosity, yesterday I pulled some of the lowest fan leaves off three plants to take brix readings. Next week I'll try to get the other three plants.

Ace of Spades; In person it looks like 17 or 18.

Liberty Haze; A much younger plant and very leafy. Still I was a little disappointed it only pulled 11-12.

Golden Tiger(+); Viewed first hand, I gave it a 16.

LH #1 Dunno. I used to love her, but she is beginning to look like a philodendron or something. :cheesygrinsmiley:

GT(+) doing great!

GG4 is still the runt of the litter

ZD(+) She is growing like nothing else. I topped her again this morning. That should slow her down temporarily. Compare to the lower pic from two weeks ago.

Nothing from the other garden this week. I'll grab shots next time along with the other brix results. I did add a tomato cage to the Grape Ape x Sensi Star sort of used the hoops to splay the branches outward. It looks like hell right now but is doing OK. The other LH #2 is not doing a lot but I haven't spent any time trying to figure out what it wants.

Hopefully, I'll get my butt in gear and give them all some pruning and other attention they deserve this week.

:Namaste:

Afternoon major...Girls are looking happy to say the least. :bravo:

I like that you did a brix breakdown on them. Just curious on what a good brix level is good with them being in promix and the kit. We have been doing a test on one of ours in the soil mix we made and it started out with 12 and is now 17 after getting the tranquility water device. I don't know what raises it with the kit or anything else. But from what I have seen that is the norm. Has anyone ever recorded being in the 20's? Or I should ask what is the highest you have had or have seen? Just curious since ours are pest free and happy as a set of clams.

Hope it cools down for ya since the heat is going to hit us in the upper 90s starting this weekend. :woohoo:

The highest I've tested on any of my grows is 19. I'm sure 20+ is not uncommon. We'll see where these end up. Usually, right when the brix should be at its highest, I get serious leaf fade. As a result I never get great brix readings after mid-bloom. I think 10-20 is pretty typical for healthy plants in veg.

They look great, Major. Brix numers always start small, when the plant is young 9-12 is the norm. They will raise with time with root expansion and leaf surface with your treatment. How are they doing pestwise?

Major, they all look great....you will need a lot of help when it comes time to trim....they are gonna be freekin huge...ya baby. They will look a little better when you can give them a bottom -up pruning too...just amazing growth....I knew they would take off...they , after all have 75gal's. of pure joy ..Booya!
Cheers pal!:thumb:

I am NOT looking forward to trimming these. I don't even know what I'll do about it. I may select what I think is the best of the best and forget the rest.

The LH is so fat and leafy you can tell it is full of water. Since I haven't seen it grown before, I'm curious as to how it will shape up in bloom. Hopefully brix will build as it matures.

Leafhoppers (spittlebugs) a plenty but they don't seem to do much to the plants. The mites are under control for the time being. I only did two sprays 4 days apart. No evidence of them spreading and the leaves I have pulled showed those on AS are dead. I plan to follow up with a different treatment in 3 weeks to a month and maybe a third just as bloom is getting started.

:thanks: guys!

Well with that said...
A.) let me know when to come over and I'll take what you don't want :laughtwo:

B.) Speedee trim is a sponsor on here and sells trimmers for like $150 that can do pounds fast. It would almost be worth the investment for those soon to be monsters. To justify the cost you could compare $150 to $1000 worth of cannabis. That's how I do it lol.

It's all starting to come together for ya now. Oh and thanks for the awesome response earlier. :thumb:

Good evening Major,

Hope your back is on the mend. Rumor has it that some day it will start cooling down here in Oregon, I am beginning to think it is just a rumor because it is still darn hot up here. Your plants look great and they have such nice shapes. I am looking forward to seeing how mine compare with yours. By the looks of it, if I can get mine to look 1/2 as good as yours I will be rocking.

have a great evening

Good morning Major,

I am so sorry to hear about your sister. Hopefully she will recover quickly. Blood infections really suck, I know I went through it myself and have 1st hand experience with them, not a fun time at all.
Rumor has it that is is suppose to be cooler today, hope today is not another day when I say, "dam weatherman lied again"

Stay positive, and know you got lots of positive vibes coming from up north headed your way.:circle-of-love:
