Freedom Of Seeds Tabletop Grow In Carmen's Kitchen

My my my..so lovely!
Thank you Shed, and here are some more pics from today. My little outdoor dagga plant is handling what nature throws at it. Yesterday the wind blew a gale and the plant was whipped around all day. Today looking no worse for wear.

The indoor plants are coming on nicely too.

Happy Monday everyone and have an awesome week!

Thank you Bill, it's unbuhlievable what is going on with the weather. We are just not equipped to deal with this sort of thing. It doesn't happen here!
If your not prepared I suggest you stay home where it's safe. :Namaste:
Snow tires and all wheel drive if you must venture out.
It's a nightmare otherwise , if there isn't snow plows.
Cars stuck everywhere, people falling and getting hurt.
Lots of accidents.
I just stay inside with the pups and the wood stove.
Don't even think about shoveling, it's heavier than it looks 🥶
I can't shovel anymore.
Hope your warm and safe Carmen. 😉

Thank you Bill. I am lucky with the weather today. It's a beautiful sunny day and I may even go for a walk on the beach. I really felt sorry for those people trapped in the snow in the KwaZulu-Natal province. I mean where do you go to the toilet? How do you keep from freezing? There's nothing to eat or drink unless you brought stuff on the journey. It's the stuff of nightmares.
I stay indoors in extreme weather. As soon as there is a weather warning I cancel plans and stay where it's safe.
South Africa doesn't typically receive that kind of snowfall. Sure we have snowy regions and the mountains often get snow in cold months but this is unusual. It appears to me the hots are getting hotter and the colds colder, as the weather patterns become more extreme with climate change.

PS. I wouldn't bother shoveling either! Way too much hard work. I suppose you have to if the snow builds up around the house and if you want to get in and out? I have no clue.

It's a major pain in the tucas.
The front door gets blocked by the snow coming off the steel roof.
Stacey ordered clips I'll be installing soon
I'd rather not be on the steel roof installing snow clips but it has to be done.
I'm the only volunteer. 😉

In 1978 we got so much snow one storm! I remember it was over my head @5 foot 11 inches as I shoveled my parents driveway! Snow can be a daunting task!
Your green ones look bright today!

😬 What are snow clips? It sounds perilous to be on the steel roof. Take care up there!

It's basically just to catch snow when it builds up on the roof.
There's a 100 difference styles of them.
It freezes in place so a big build up doesn't come down all at once.
It melts instead, in April
Here is a few clips after the first snow.
Don't fret I'll be careful.

Eventually it becomes one big frozen mass.
Then it melts and comes down gradually instead of like a freight train, right at my front door.

Okay looks good. Just be careful as you say.

Oh my word! That's actually pretty scary!

Thank you :)
Folks lost life that storm. We're ready for snow but this one was so fast and furious that cars got stuck on highways for days and a few froze. The folks driveway was a tactical nightmare for removal! Good thing I was 23 and could do anything all day, and I did for days!

Some general nature photographs. The top one is a bumblebee in a September bush. The flower is on an air plant! I just went out to snip the first node leaves and branches off the Somango and was greeted by the buzz of the garden!

Week 5 Update:

Week five and I have no concerns or complaints. I wish I could take a brix reading on the plants for curiosity sake. The Somango auto appears to have zero bugs after a week of exposure to the outdoor life.

Yesterday I gave the flowering plants each 500 ml of Nourish solution and they are now praying even harder.

Every now and then I squirt the surface of the soil in the solo pot with fish water and microbes. The 16 day old Somango auto 2 is also praying. I just raised it up closer to the light, by one book. 200 ppfd was a bit low. I'll measure later and get it closer to <300 ppfd.

Happy Tuesday and thanks for following!
