Freedom Of Seeds Tabletop Grow In Carmen's Kitchen

I am going for 20L growbags and as a start I will be using the soil mix from Freedom Farm...

I recently bought a Migro Array 4 - 250w growlight and really want to give indoor a proper go.
I'm using amended Freedom Farm soil. It's on its third run now. I'm using Dirty Hands Elemental Blend and EWC to revitalize the soil after each run.

That a good idea. I usually dump out all my grow bags and pots end of season and work it into the garden. Eventually I want to plant directly in earth to get some monsters.

I have always been scared to make my own living soil but when I started it turns out that it is super simple and easy. Now I mix all my soil myself with additives and let it stay outside to cook. Pots are covered to prevent any cats using it as a loo.

Do autos do better indoor or outdoor. Stupid question but my mind is asking...

And on another topic. You say that you use FF soil and revitalize with DH Elemental Blend. Have you tried FF Antifragile blend ???

The reason for the question is that they are almost the same but see that DH has a bit more in that sounds better. I am thinking of getting the one from FF and DH and make 2 pots as a test for next season

Where I live there are nasty Christmas beetles that lay their larvae in the soil, so I keep mine in black totes to keep the garden critters out.

They have a fair chance at doing well in and outdoors in my opinion. There is obviously more control indoors, and there is more nature outside. If you have the space, try both.

No. I can't remember why. I bought a couple of bags and then returned it and exchanged it for their Premium Classic. I think it was because I had been using the DH Inc Orgasoilux and found it too hot for my plants. I asked around and found that the guys I wanted to emulate were using the Premium Classic. I top dress weekly with DH Elemental Blend, and I feed with Nourish by Talborne Organics every two weeks in flower. They will get their first feed in a couple of days.

That would be great! I'd love to see how you manage with the DH. Maybe do three pots, try the Antifragile and the Premium Classic.

I have tried the premium and works great. Only problem I have with it and this includes their seedling mix, is that they say is has gnat larvae prevention but there are always still gnats around. I moved over to their straight coco perlite mix and no more gnat problem.

Even now as I am replying I can bow down into my tent and see the gnats running around on top of the seedling mix...

DH is a few bucks more but I will gladly pay more to not have this issue

That's super unfortunate. I don't have a gnat issue at all. I have a quick fix for gnats though. I do a soil drench with Margaret Roberts mozzie prevention, and sprinkle DE (diatomaceous earth) on the soil surface.

Wow you weren’t kidding about the snow.
Hope your ok Carmen

Thank you Bill, it's unbuhlievable what is going on with the weather. We are just not equipped to deal with this sort of thing. It doesn't happen here!

That's Cray Cray....I don't think snow or ice when I hear of South Africa. As a youth I always had a dream of going to South Africa to surf Jeffreys Bay. A world class right hand point break .

Im in a warmer spot here in the Boland thank you very much. I am quite done with the cold but best of luck on fighting frostbite and becoming a human lollipop...

Out of curiosity, whats the temps there...???
Here is a mild 19 C. It has been a sunny but breezy day. I had a morning at Padel and then and afternoon looking at the Hottentot's Holland (is that name even kosher) from my cousin's place in SSW. Lekker spring day.
I had no idea Africa got snow...or cold for that matter!
Not like this we don't. The climate is definitely showing more extreme weather.
All the way from SA Carmen! What a dangerous embarrassment that maybe half my country thinks he's a leader!
America's leader is the leader of the free world. We are all invested in this. Scary a.f.

I know right! You and your g.f. should still come here on a surfing holiday!

Sad to say but my surfing days are long gone. But I would still love to come to South Africa. I do like to travel.
