Fncg's Grow 0.5/1.0 Hempy 2L Perpetual Sea of Green

As promised...pictures.

Only 10 days since last trimming, and we're up in the lights again.

IMAG06962.jpg

All six of my Jan 1 clones are now showing strong roots like this. 11 days from cutting, and they're ready to transplant.

The Trainwreck, finally big enough to join in the cloning fun. I pulled 4 cuttings off of her.

IMAG06983.jpg

Gah, getting messy in here midway through the process. I need a cleaner way to keep everything organized.

IMAG06993.jpg

And 28 new babies, ready to go under the dome and start their little roots. :circle-of-love:

:thanks::thanks::thanks::thanks:

Corey, your BPN is freakin' magic. AWESOME!

CLONE WARS!!!! :) They look awesome! :morenutes: :bravo: They will continue to produce and max out your garden. :cheer:

Mixed up a huge tub of termite and vermiculite for the upcoming transplant. Gotta get 28 bottles and space on the shelf to put them. The last batch of 6, cut on 1/1, all have strong roots, were starting new leaves, and got transplanted into 2l bottles tonight. This puts me at 18 plants in 2l hempys, and it should total 46 within another ten days. Still need to set up my bloom cabinet, the sea is beginning to fill!:circle-of-love:

BPN Rocks for sure:rocker: :morenutes: I'm lovin em!:circle-of-love::Namaste: Thanks again Corey!:high-five:

That's for sure! Corey and BPN are awesome!

Kinda strange to grow a sea... Cool to watch happen though!
Do you have plans for the bloom cab.?

I do. And I need to implement them this week, or I'm gonna be out of space in the mom cabinet.

Quick update on the newly transplanted clones, from ten and three days ago:

Everybody seems to be doing okay, putting up new little stems and fans, looking much like my six starters did back at the beginning of December. There's a couple of weird leaf things going on, on a few of the plants. I don't really have a good eye for if it's watering, or nute burn, or ???. They've been fed with BPN Mild growth (5.0/5.0/5.0) every other day as they put down roots into the hempy pots.

And

IMAG07221.jpg

The whole garden now takes up the entire 2' x 4' shelf. I need to move ahead with my plan to put up insulating sheets around this whole thing, my bubble foil "door" has proven pretty flimsy, and I'm getting tired of farting around with it. Also, we're having to run the radiator at 600w continuously to maintain temps in the 68-82 range in the cabinet. That's gonna cost more $$$ than I want to spend without direct benefit.

IMAG07182.jpg

So, I'm going to frame in another shelf above this one, and finish enclosing the entire thing. Should be able to get that done this weekend, with any luck. Two more light fixtures up on the top shelf will let me spread everything out, get a couple more clone trays, and alleviate some of the crowding I've got in there right now.

Speaking of clones, I've got some weirdness on a few of my leaves (on the 28 clones cut the other day). It's very humid under the dome, but these leaves felt quite dry, and had strange brown spots on them. Picture:

IMAG07201.jpg

As for the bloom cabinet: I'm going big.

The room is roughly 9'x11', fully enclosed, and stands apart from the house. There's no immediate neighbors, so fan sounds and odor control isn't an issue. The mom cabinet currently takes up 2' x 4' in one corner, the table I use for mixing and trimming is about 3x3, and there's a sink in another corner with a shelf above it, on which my nutes and water are sitting.

IMAG07231.jpg

I've got an essentially unlimited supply of the little blue bins you've seen in the pictures above, and they're very sturdy, so I'm sizing my cabinet based on them. They're metric, 500mm long by about 320mm wide. So If I build the cabinet ~3 1/2 feet deep (1m) by 8-10 feet wide (okay, probably 3m) that lets me get 16-18 of those blue trays in there, with 6 plants each, for 96 plants total. I would start with a 600w MH light at one end, and add a second or third as the sea continues to fill in with new clones. I'm going to basically build it into the room, like the mom cabinet is, and frame up just enough to support styrofoam insulating walls and overhead light.

Diagram of room:

IMAG07261.jpg

So that's the plan. The room is currently being used for some storage, taking up maybe 1/3 of the total space I need, and we're gonna have to move everything somewhere else. It's starting to get smelly in there, and gonna be a lot more soon.

As you add the flower lights, the need for the radiator will decrease. Make sure the clone area is lightproof, especially around the ventilation. Do a search for light traps.

Ugh, I feel horrible that there's 25 other grows that I'm subscribed to and not caught up on any of them.

It's been a busy week or so.

Built out the second shelf of the clone/mom cabinet last weekend, and not a moment too soon. Of the 28 clones I cut on the 10th, all but five of them rooted, and two of those are looking healthy enough to transplant with crossed fingers. Interestingly, I only had a 50% success rate with the Trainwrecks (4/8), while 19 out of 20 Lavenders rooted.

Cabinet with second shelf up and running. Also note that the clones that got transplanted on the 7th and 13th (the two right bins on the lower shelf) are now growing like crazy. I haven't really posted any pictures of them, but they're healthy and strong, all twelve of them.

IMAG07532.jpg

I also framed in a proper door for the cabinet, and sealed it all around with bubble foil insulation. My temps are now in the 80-90 degree range with the radiator on 600w 24 hours a day. Time to put that thing back on a timer, and maybe run it opposite hours from the lights.

IMAG07542.jpg

I didn't get 100% success like last time, 95% for the Lavenders and 50% on the trainwrecks. The roots on the ones that did take were freakin' nuts. This Blue planet Nutrients grows some healthy plants. I have no freggin idea what I'm doing here, but a 95% success rate with roots like this in 2 weeks...not complaining at all.

IMAG07571.jpg
IMAG07581.jpg

Batch 3 got transplanted into hempys, but I'm out of room until the bloom cabinet is finished, so the 4 good Trainwrecks got 2l bottles, and the 19 Lavenders get plastic party cups.

IMAG07601.jpg

The moms all grew up into the lights again, and got trimmed today. Total clone count this time around (batch #4) is 36 clones, 24 Lavenders and 12 Trainwrecks. That's exactly a half load on my planting tray, and the OCD side of my brain demanded that I make a nice checkerboard pattern with them.

IMAG07611.jpg

I'll be back with some more detail tomorrow, and to catch up on everybody's threads. Thanks, peace, and love to all. Goodnight! :circle-of-love:

Forgot to mention...if all the clones I cut today root, that puts me at a total of 77 plants. Holy shit.

I had six a couple weeks ago.

Wow.

These things are amazing.

:adore:

Looking fantastic fncg! +REPS!

Thanks Mr Krip! :thanks: I appreciate so much you more experienced growers weighing in and calming my newbie worries. So far my approach to weird leaves with brown, spots, etc has been "cut them off" and it seems to be working. None of the problems I had 10 days ago have resurfaced at all.

As you add the flower lights, the need for the radiator will decrease. Make sure the clone area is lightproof, especially around the ventilation. Do a search for light traps.

This is proving accurate. The cabinet is now 80-90 inside, and my whole room has got to be in the 70's since I blocked off some holes in the walls. The bubble/foil stuff is proving to be not absolutely light-tight, I can still see a faint glow through it when the room lights are off. Will try to get a picture sometime soon.

:thanks::thanks::thanks:

1000W MH bulb, ballast, reflector, and light rail are here! :cheer::):woohoo:

Bought them from a grower friend.

Tomorrow get to frame in the new cabinet, hang the light, and kick this sucker into high gear!

Edit: Powered up the light. Took a few minutes to warm up, but holy farkin shit that thing is bright. Yeow. Picture of this monster vs the fluorescent tubes inside my mom cabinet. Can barely even tell they're on, by comparison.

IMAG07691.jpg

1k should really get your girls kickn!:high-five:

I sure hope so. It's time. 12/12 switch as of NOW. Got the light hung, ran out of time and materials to actually build in an enclosure, but at the moment everybody is under the big light (except my moms and the last batch of 36 cuttings in the clone cabinet). The overall room is small enough that my temps seem to be in the 70's and 80's with the 1K light on, and I think we'll be fine for a couple of days at least. The radiator in the bottom of the clone box is set on another timer, alternating with the 1K light so when one is on, the other is off. Need the radiator to keep temps up when the big light is off still. Not sure if I've got electrical capacity to feed both at once, and don't need to take chances.

Pic of the setup as it stands right now. Neat seeing the pulsing 60hz lights on my phone's sensor. I'm gonna have to haul out the big camera at some point soon, to get some proper white balance.

Light is currently set 24" above the tallest plants, which puts it about 32" up from the shorter ones in Solo party cups. They're all getting transplanted into 2l bottles over the next couple days to a week.

IMAG07701.jpg

Tallest plants are about 9-10" above the lip of their 2l bottles. Any thoughts on how quickly they're gonna add height, and whether my light (24" above the tops of the plants) is too high/low/etc?

:thanks:

Never used the 1k's, but the hight sound good... not worth much I know.
When I put my clones to flower they usually double to triple in hight in about 2-3 weeks. However I do defoliate around day 21 of flower so that might influence my girls to stop stretching earlier. I have read that it helps to stop stretch any way.
