Flower Child's First Grow: Seeds- Soil- MH-HPS Sun- 2013

Hi there Flower. It's not unusual for the lower leaves to do that. It's when all of them look that way, that is the time to panic. They look pretty good to me. Keep and eye on them though. :high-five:

Thanks OMM, I'm just a nervous nellie and not sure about anything this first go-round. I think I fret more about these plants than I did over my kid when she was growing up.:)

good weed Flower Child:)
the 2046 is what I grew last round. after a month of cure it stepped up a notch. Very Good Smoke.
do the leaves you have taken show a blackening on the edges?

No blackening, just yellowing and rust color blotches. And it's just the big fan leaves. The smaller fans and the sugar leaves on the buds still look healthy. I was reading mcloadies journal this morning and he thinks his issues are lockout from overwatering. I don't think thats my problem cause I let them get a slight wilt before i water them, but something is sure going on.:bitingnails:

too much Potassium . when you have dark green leaves at the top and the lower leaves yellow with rusty spots shows that
lower leaves will yellow and stems become brittle.
this is just what I was reading out of one of my blogs. take a look and see if you agree:)

Whoo Hooo I think you figured it out fish! That makes total sense. :thanks: Your blog also mentions that the potassium toxicity causes lockout for a lot of other things like mg, mn, zinc, ect. I thought that high PH was causing the lockout symptoms they had. Just couldnt understand why they were having more issues instead of getting better now that their ph is normal. I'm going to give all of them a good flush tomorrow when their water is ready(dechlorinated). The blog also said to give a mild complete fertilizer. Do you think they should get a weak feed of the flower nutes(5-10-5) or I have some kelp fert that is N .3 P .25 K .15 (that would only give them a smidge of K)?

Anyway thanks again for the help!:circle-of-love::high-five::thankyou: I'm off to pretreat my back :bong: so i can lug all those top heavy plants into the tub tomorrow.:)

I think the.5/10/5 is the way to go 1/2 or 1/4 strength:)

Sir, Im very confused. Ive read that chart 10x and thought it read as Potassium defiency. But I do tend to medicate, then hit the site. ;) RoorRip:nomo:

which one did you read Spimp?

good weed young lady:)

Of course!

Looking good there Flower Child. I hope my bomb plants grow buds that nice. Keep it up, you're almost there.
:) Peace
Thanks billy- The bombs are my favorites so far. If they taste half as good as they look and smell I'll definitely be growing them again:)

thanks fishcake:thanks: I will go with 1/4 strength cause they were only getting 3/4 strength for regular feeding anyway.
good weed young lady:)
Good weed and good day to your fishcake! Actually slept better last nite knowing I had a treatment plan for my babies. :cheesygrinsmiley::peace:

which one did you read Spimp?
The chart of leaves. 2nd of your blog posts I believe. Then the K mobile defiency part. Talks about the older leaves yellowing and falling off, stems becoming brittle, etc. Shows a pic of the yellowing leaves with dark rust color spots and what not.

yeah that chart is a good starting place but is kind of iffy on the diff between not enough or too much. so I looked at the first blog and I think I confirmed my thoughts. that said I may very well be wrong:)

Well we all know when in doubt, research it out. And Im for sure not a definitve answer on ANYTHING. I just thought her discription:
On a lot of them the rust color is just starting so it won't show on camera-but it affects the whole leaf. It still looks like ph or cal mag issues-except that the water in is ph 7 and the runoff is ph 6.5. I gave them more cal mag in their water so hopefully they won't get worse. Anyone have any ideas on what else I could do? Oh and they are all yellowing and dropping a few lower leaves- looks like nitrogen def. Is that normal with 4 weeks yet to go?
Sounded just like the points on the blog chart.

REMEMBER, I am a hack. I am always trying to help. I mean no disrespect or harm in my advice. Flower child, I would always defer to Fish Cake.To be honest, I havnt read the first blog completly . Me likey pictures. ;) Im reading it now though. Sorry If I have caused any confusion, lord knows Im stumbling through a micro myself right now...

it is normal for lower fan leaves to yellow and fall of during flower. OldMedMan gave you the proper advice about watching that it does not progress farther up your plants. consider how little nitrogen and light the lower leaves are now getting in flower. you can give your plants the flower nutrients (5-10-5).

good weed Flower Child:)
how are your ladies?

how are your ladies?
Good morning and good weed to everyone!:) First I just want to say thanks for everyone that is chiming in with ideas. I appreciate all the help and suggestions for my sick girls. I was sure that the K toxicity idea was right so they were flushed and fed half strength 2 days ago and for the most part they are the same-only one is getting worse. She now has mostly bronze-purple leaves and the leaves that aren't bronze-purple are turning a bit yellow. Looks completely different from the rust spots. I have looked at all the trouble shooters I could find but nothing describes bronze-purple leaves like she has. Heres few pics of their troubled leaves with the rust and the bronze-purple:

Also I think they are dropping too many leaves- the following is a pic of 2 nites ago- lots of them were still green but fell off when I touched them. Yikes!:bitingnails:

They are starting to scare me cause they still have around 4 weeks to go and I don't think they will stay alive that long the way they are looking now!
Oh and please don't worry about giving the wrong advice- I don't have a clue what to do right now so I really appreciate everyone trying to help!:thankyou:

Ya know FC, I tried a lot of different things on my plants, I NEVER did get them to respond........I went all the way back to what I was doing from the beginning...and I'll see what happens. I don't think your plants...or mine are going to die. It's funny, my plants are a week older than yours.....very similar symptoms....I've had the purpling leaves before too, I do know that the plants will shed leaves they don't need, we are going to learn from this run, and next time I'm back to organic! I can't wait to see what the roots look like on my plants.....and how crowded the 5 gallon smarties are!

I agree with Mc, Flo.

I think you are worrying too much.

Keep watching, but the plants are essentially dying and using up anything they need to make babies (seeds)

Every plant is an individual and will use up different nutes as she forces out the flowers in a desperate bid to get laid.

I hope it's just that, but I suppose you do too ;)
