First Grow - Indoor Now - Outside & Inside Later

Hey UncleC

The few buds I cut Friday, I put in a paper bag in a cabinet over the fridge. Seemed to work OK for a few buds. But I am looking at doing a partial harvest tomorrow or Wednesday and a bag over the fridge probably just isn't going to cut it LOL

Now I am not sure how I am going to go about drying my harvest. My original plan had been to use the outer part of the grow room, but the dehumidifier drives the temps up to near 100F, so that's out. The back shed where I intend to dry the outdoor harvest this fall has good air flow but the RH outside this time of year tends to be 70+.

I have seen a number of members hang their bud inside a cardboard box, so maybe that's an option. Any suggestions?

Dry buds in carboard box seems ok, planning to do the same.

mm, didnt thought about dehumifier could drive temps up, ordered small one recently.

What device you have?

:peace:

Hi ganjazz

My humidifier is an old Sears modal intended for large areas, like a basement. My grow room has 2 sections, a 3'6x3'6 (1mx1m) bloom room, and an outer area about 6'x3'6 (2mx1m) where I keep supplies etc. The airflow in there is a little hard to explain, but its a dual system where 1 exhaust fan draws outside air into both areas and vents it outside, then there is a 2nd fan the circulates the air between the 2 areas. There's not room in the bloom area for anything but the girls, so the dehumidifier runs full capacity in the outer area to keep the RH in both areas down, but it also drives the temps way up, about 100F in the outer area and about 90F in the bloom area.

Makes the temps higher than I would like but better high temps than high RH and mold

BTW, when you get your dehumidifier working in your bloom area, check it often. Not sure what the ambient RH is where you live, but its quite high here this time of year and mine had filled the reservoir and shut off in the 2 days I was away allowing the RH to come up again.

Good day :420: friends

Today I did a partial harvest of the larger THC Bomb. Here are some pictures of todays activities.

Due to thick fingers, small scale and large tub, I couldn't tare the tub so just recorded its weight LOL

Total green weight taken from the girls so far, and allowing for about 5g scraped for mold, equals approximately 306.7g.

If I allow that I have harvested about 20%, and take 25% of green weight as the dry weight, I should have harvested about 76.68g dry weight. At 20% that means I should yield about 380g dry weight once they are all harvested. Under a Mars II 900, that's somewhere around 0.9g/w...not bad ;)

Thanks for the well wishes mate.

Been a busy few weeks here, family home from out west. My sister-in-law is retired RCMP and although she agrees that cannabis should be legalized, and I suspect she knows I am growing outside, out of respect for her past position, I try to keep it low profile while she is with us.

She flies home tomorrow so I will be doing some updates later in the day tomorrow ;)

Good morning all

Although a day later than intended, due to technical difficulties with my account, here is an update on the Outdoor Bomb Girls

First we will take a tour around the yard to see the girls outback and finish with Big Mamma in the garden.

First up, 2 of 4 Cherry girls, all of which are 6 feet or taller now.

Next we have the Big Bombs not doing a very good job of hiding in the raspberry cane anymore. They are much taller than the breeder suggested they would be. The tallest one on the left is over 9 feet now and her shortest sister (on the right) is 8 foot even

This is the sole Cluster Bomb outback who is now at 7'8" tall

And the brings us back to the garden. Big Mamma has 4 other companions in the garden with her but due to the raised bed in front and the angles, the only way to get a picture of the others here with her was to climb a tree and I am way too old to be doing that anymore ;)
So here is the shot of Big Mamma who is still the largest of the Bomb Girls but no longer the tallest, she topped out at 7 feet.

As well as the Bomb Girls, there are 2 unknown sativas hiding in the alders that are well over 9 feet.

There have been some minor issues with the outdoor girls and powdery mildew, lost limbs etc. Even Big Mamma had some on her main stalk that would likely have killed the top if I hadn't caught it when I did and dosed the spot with hydrogen peroxide. She also appears to be developing a magnesium and maybe sulphur deficiency which will be addressed today with some Epsom salt.

Later today I will do an update on the indoor girls who have all had their larger buds harvested

Wow TheCelt. Those pictures just go to show how Mother Nature can treat these ladies au natural. Does it sound rude if I say I'd love to come over there and play with your bush? Guess it would be if you were female lol but mate, I could sit and just stroke those bushes all day long, beautiful :thumb:

Thanks Kriaze

My few girls in the garden with Big Mamma get the most attention but even the girls on their own out back have amazed me. Other than the few issues with mildew, they have well surpassed expectations. I just hope we have a late, dry fall so I can watch them grow to full term. Can't wait to see them heavy with bud ;)

Hello Ganjazz and thank you

I have tried both strains from the first cut. Being a drinker most of my life and having rarely smoked, I have smoked more in the past few months than in all my previous 45 yrs, my review is likely to be different than those who have smoked for years.

OK so here is my thoughts on these 2 strains.

THC Bomb: Taste=> spicy/peppery to me, not harsh at all.
Smell=>same as the taste
Effects=> vary depending on how much I have drank (I drink a lot but rarely fast enough to get drunk), if I have been drinking all afternoon and evening (8-12 drinks) I find smoking enhances the liquor to give me a buzz similar to the feeling of having drank to the point of feeling happy but not to the point of being drunk. Then when I go to bed, I sleep VARY well, something I rarely have for years due to insomnia and pain. I find it takes 1/2 hour or more to take effect so I rarely smoke it much before an hour before I want to go to sleep ;)

Now the Cherry Bomb I tried with my son last night.

Taste and smell=> milder and sweeter than the THC Bomb, I don't taste or smell the cherry but my step daughter said it did to her.
Effects=> I didn't find it had much effect other than to allow me to sleep through the night and wake with minimal pain, and that's what I am looking for.

Just a side note, I am trying strains to give me something that I can use for pain through the day and still be functional, as well as, something I can take at night for pain and insomnia. I cut both strains when the trichomes were mostly cloudy with little clear and amber. As of yet, I haven't tried either for daytime use but think the Cherry Bomb may be worth a try.

Wow! Those outdoor plants are incredible!!! A nine-foot Bomb. Hahaha! Look out Loretta!!

Congrats on finding relief for the insomnia and pain. My THC Bomb Auto took on a sweet lemon smell and taste after a three month cure. It was so interesting to watch it go from peppery to a strong suggestion of chamomile to sweet lemon over the course of those few months. I have a preference for munching baked buds (decarboxylated) like candy instead of smoking (deeper buzz that lasts longer) and she was the tastiest I've done that with.

Wow what a first grow TheCelt! You've got some huge beautiful plants going, may they medicate you for many months... :Namaste: Anyways I'm subbed, inside or outside I'm sure I can learn along with you, thanks for sharing!

Welcome aboard Yoda, Sue and SoilGirl

SoilGirl, I really like what you are doing with the "no till" and LOS, something I will be looking deeper into for next year. When I made my soil this year I was "flying by the seat of my pants" so to speak, but for the most part its done well so far. I have a worm bin set up so teas will be on the menu for the girl next time around :)

Interesting info on the taste of the THC Bomb Sue, I look forward to seeing if mine follows suit. I prefer the THC Bomb over the Cherry ATM, that may change as they cure longer. I like the peppery taste but lemon would be even better.
