First Grow - Indoor Now - Outside & Inside Later

I'm sure you'll enjoy the modulation through the terpene evolution.

My no-till is now on its third cycle. Yesterday, for the very first time, I dug into the soil to plant companion scallions and man! What incredible soil!! Perfectly hydrated by the SWICK it sits on, beautifully friable. The soil just moved out of the way for me. I was blown away at the quality of what lives below the protective cover of my mulches.

I highly recommend no-till. If at some point I discontinue using Doc Bud's Kit it's going to be because it can't yet be done as a no-till.

Hi Sue

I am looking forward to the change in smell/flavor of the THC Bomb. I like the spicy/peppery taste but lemon would be even better :) I like the idea of no-till and will work towards that as I learn more (been reading some of your journal but oh so long LOL). I did post on SoilGirl's thread asking about how much root ball to remove as well as some other things I am yet unsure of.

Today I brought in 5 clones of Big Mamma and put them under 24hr light. The girls outside are just starting to flower including the small clones so need to reveg them, before the girls under the M2 900 are finished, so I have plants to flower later.

I don't remove any of the root ball. I cut the plant right above the soil line and leave it to rot in the ground. The soil community appears to be very happy with that arrangement. Every crop is better than the last. Better as in more potent and tastier.

it would be advisable to keep these quarantined. you may be inviting pests into a great new environment to infest.

very impressive start to growing and the thread's an entertaining read.

Your outdoor girlz are looking mighty sexy these days bro. Yes I'm drooling...somebody get me a large towel please.

Thanks for that info Sue. Since you are around and I can pick your brain ;) what do you recommend for cover (living mulch) for an indoor grow?

I'm partial to any of the clovers because they're nitrogen fixers and they look so cool with cannabis. White appears to be the preferred choice of many serious growers. Scallions (check out Cannabelle's new journal), definitely those green onions they sell in the supermarket. Bring them home, dip the roots in myco and plant them in your pot. There's a symbiotic relationship between them, the cannabis and the myco. They're not a cover crop, just one you should include.

Fenugreek is another popular choice, but I've never tried it.

Whatever cover crop you choose go light. All you need is a little bit around the outer edge.

Harvest day today. Had one of my THC Bomb Girls that I almost pulled an UncleC and let her "dry on the vine" in need of harvest. I had been away fro a few days and came back to find her dry and crispy. She recovered but now a week later was good to harvest.

This is whats left of her

I did a lot of reading the past few days and read up on washing bud prior to drying. From what I read the only con I can see is extra time involved yet there were many pros so I decided to give it a try with this girl.

The bud after washing

Bud hanging to dry

Prior to washing, only fan leaves and any dead/dying leaves were trimmed off. After they hang for a few hours to let excess water drip off, I will do a proper trim and then hang them again. According to Doc Bud, they should hang for 2 days in the light and at more or less the same temperature and humidity you bloom at. After those 2 days, I will trim the bud from the larger stems and dry like I normally would for another 4-5 days and then they will go into jars for curing.

Everybody on the thread who has tried this claims the bud is smoother, more flavorful/aromatic, dries and cures quicker. They also claim it has more bag appeal which just after washing I can attest to, the colors are brighter and more pronounced after being washed.

As much is there is extra work involved washing bud, after seeing what was floating in the water afterwards, I will definitely be washing bud from now on ;)

Thanks Celt. It's good to be back. I may just take you up on that offer if ever I'm in your next of the woods.

Welcome anytime mate. There is actually a local Cannabis Cup type affair here this coming weekend but I am going to miss it. Friends of my wife and I are getting married on a beach on the North Shore Saturday so I will be at the wrong end of the province to attend. I might make it there for Sunday if I get back home in time ;)

Reps+ on the bud washing testimonial. I can back up the fresh appearance after the wash. It always catches me by surprise. :laughtwo:

Well done on the harvest. :bravo:

I can appreciate. :laughtwo: When you look in that first bucket the first time you bud wash the typical reaction is "Yuck!!!"

Few people ever go back.

Congrats on the chop Celt!! Awesome results for a first time grow!! You're a natural green thumb my friend. :thumb::bravo:
