First Grow In Over 20 Years! Northern Lights Under 600W LED

I was busy smoking my harvest for a while so I missed yours

Can't blame you for missing it with a good excuse like that!!

And people say Los Angeles is an expensive place to live! CVS drug store charges about $1 for 16 ounces. $4 to flood my entire 7g pot.

Ummmm... I don't know where I got that price. I ended up paying $3.47 for 32oz. When I look out my window and look at the Ontario snow LA sure sounds nice... ;)

Another busy day in the garden. I cleaned the mold off the walls in my closet with bleach and I flushed my plants with hydrogen peroxide to get rid of the gnats and I made some more oil.

Here are the before-and-after pictures of the mold in the closet.

Here is the oil cooking away. I decarbed for two hours at 230°F and then did a water bath in the crockpot for six hours with the olive oil and cannabis in a mason jar. I put in ¼ ounce of dried bud and ended up with about 1 fluid ounce of oil. I don’t know if that’s considered a good proportion but I just cover up my bud with as much oil as it takes.

I picked up 6 quarts of hydrogen peroxide at Walmart for about $23 with tax. I was thinking of using it straight as suggested but most sites say to go 3 or 4 to one and I got some on my fingers and it kind of burned a bit and left a white residue that would wash off with soap so it seemed kind of aggressive so I diluted it 1:1. I used 1 quart of hydrogen peroxide per 5 gallon pot so I bought enough to do it again in three or four days. Hopefully that solves the problem. Anyway I’m just sitting down now and I’m going to give my oil a test run.

Oh and I forgot to report that I removed the buds from my second harvest from the stalks today so here is a photo of everything from my first and second harvest. The three jars on the right are from the first harvest and they weigh 2.5 ounces after being dried to 62%. The rest is from the second harvest and I would estimate that is a little more like maybe 3.5 ounces once it dries so there is six and I still have my final harvest so hopefully I will have somewhere between eight and 9 ounces in total after I harvest everything. With all the problems I had I am pretty happy with that and if I can get rid of these damn gnats hopefully the next one will be better.

3% did that to your hands? Never seen that before! And that's a nice collection of jars you're working on :thumb:.

Yes 3% did that to my hands which was really surprising to me because I have read that you can actually drink the stuff and it won’t really hurt you at 3%. I read you may start foaming at the mouth but it’s not really harmful but I don’t think I’ll check it out. Thanks I’m really like'n my jar collection.

I honestly don’t know what is going on with my plants? I don’t seem to see any flying bugs around the lights today but I did see some lint so maybe that is what I saw before when I thought it was gnats? It looks like the hydrogen peroxide didn’t bother my plans at all so that’s good. I gave them a good check today and I removed maybe 10 diseased leaves so it seems like it isn’t getting much worse. I don’t know if I have gnats or not but just to be sure I’m going to do a few more hydrogen peroxide treatments. Maybe it was just from being in the closet without circulation and now that I have them space better with additional fans that is taking care of the problem. For now I guess I will just do some close monitoring and continue my hydrogen peroxide treatments and hope for the best.

One of the most important things I preach is airflow and circulation. With the correct airflow you prevent molds, diseases, bugs and it also helps sturdy the plant. These are all things that can ruin a grow immediately so if good airflow keeps the plants in good health then I would always make sure I had it. Same with air circulation, the two really go hand in hand.

I admit previously not giving airflow the priority it deserves. Thanks for the input Asesino; hopefully my better flow setup with get rid of my problem.

That and cleaning the mold off the walls!

Anyone with moldy walls in their grow room has got some real issues and has no idea what they are doing!!

I couldn't help but the LOL at that. Probably a good idea! That's why I love my tents. I've never really seen too much good come from grow areas that are just wood. Lots of bugs and mold problems.

I honestly don't understand the whole tent concept and how you can control the temp and humidity in such a small space? I am not saying you can't I just don't know how they work.

I had a good look at the new generation recently out of the closet and under the main budding light now and I only found two leaves that didn’t seem healthy. I’m crossing my fingers but I believe getting them separated a bit with fans blowing on them has solved my leaf dying problem. They are looking quite healthy and happy and not adjusting my water pH doesn’t seem to be bothering them either which is more good news.

My older budding plants that have been budding 11 weeks and two days are getting pretty Amber which I was hoping for to get some nighttime sleeping meds. I don’t know how much more I should go on the Amber; I don’t mind waiting but I am going to need that light for my new cuttings soon.

I noticed something interesting that I was hoping for on my older budding plants and that is I found what I think is a male stamen. I was reading if you let female plants go late in life they may develop male stamens as a last-ditch effort to reproduce. But I don’t think it is a new one I think it is one from quite a while ago because it doesn’t seem to have any pollen on it? And I did notice much earlier in the budding cycle what I thought might be a male sac so maybe they are old. So I am going to keep my eye out for some new ones but if I do collect these stamens even though they don’t look like they have any pollen on them if I do rub them on a healthy female does anyone think they will pollinate the female? I think I am going to try because I really don’t want to keep buying seeds and this was a pretty good strain.
