First Grow In Over 20 Years! Northern Lights Under 600W LED

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend. Thanks to the great advice I got out here once again my plants seemed to have fully recovered and seem very happy and healthy. :thanks:

I figure I have a few weeks till my next generation should be started and I am thinking of what I will grow? I am thinking of taking cuttings of my Northern Lights again and also of the Cannatonic I have going and then maybe get another strain and I am thinking of White Widow. I am looking for a few strains worth keeping for a while so I would love to hear any suggestions!

Here are the happy ladies in a few weeks of bud!!

One other thing I forgot to mention. Since Shed posted his controversial information about pH of water not mattering but only alkalinity I haven’t been adjusting my pH and my plants seem fine but I am afraid over time the alkalinity in my Water will cause the pH to go up too much so was thinking I might have to find a different water source if it does.

But then it struck me that every day I empty my dehumidifier and dump what I would assume is basically distilled water with no dissolved solids or calcium carbonate down the drain. Has anybody used water from a dehumidifier to water their plants? I could save money on water and not have to worry about alkalinity if I did use it to water my plants.

just pulled this off Google..

Water that comes out of a dehumidifier is not considered safe to drink. This water has not been disinfected/filtered and may contain bacteria. However, this water may be used for other purposes, such as watering plants (add fertilizer as needed), and refilling car batteries and steam irons.
There are almost no detectable metals, and as long as the air entering the dehumidifier is filtered, there are no excessive organic decay products

Sorry for bold words...too lazy to address..

Hey, thanks Sauga. Good info and good thread. I may give it a try. But I am also tempted to let this grow finish off with tap water not pH adjusted because if it is ok then I don't have to bother.

I'll stick to rainwater - great idea tho

nice lookin' plants - glad they're healthy and productive

btw: I've had good luck with growing white widow - a very "uplifting" variety - certainly not a couch potato strain - not sure about medicating for pain

I was going where @MrSauga went from google, that it contains mold spores and bacteria (one of the reasons not to use cool mist humidifiers in a baby's room). Maybe you could save it up and put some H2O2 in it (not what you know how cheap it is) and let it stand for a day.

Good idea with the H2o2 Shed! Thanks. :goodjob:

I hear rainwater is great! Thanks for the plant comment, all good for now. Thanks for the White Widow review and have others for pain it would be for fun...

I called my local seed bank looking for some White Widow seeds and they have them from the following breeders and I am hoping for some recommendations. Greenhouse Seed Co, Victory Seeds, Dinafem Seeds?

I would go with Dinafem or GHSC

Thanks for the input Dutchman. Have you grown either one of them? Or would you get another breeder altogether?

I’ve grown WW but it was from a company who’s no longer sponsored here.

Dinafem has some great strains and the Critical+2.0 girls I’m growing right now are from Dinafem. Frosty and healthy and have had great vigorous growth all the way through.

Thanks for the info Dutchman. I recognize the girls from viewing your journal but didn't know they were from Dinafem. That helps a lot!! :thumb:

I didn’t start the seeds @playerunknown did. He had 3 phenos to choose from and I was luckily gifted this lovely lady!! I got 4 clones from him a while back and gave 2 away. The 2 I have now are crushing it in flower so far and I can’t wait to see how they turn out come harvest day! I was so impressed with them that I had taken a clone before flip and is now just getting her grow on!

All music to my ears Dutchman! My plan is to get seeds but keep them going with cloning. Thanks again... :thumb::high-five:

Here is a pic of the results from my first two partial harvests; dried to between 60 and 65% I have 6.88 ounces. With what I should get from the final harvest this crop should I would think give me somewhere between nine and 10 ounces which I am pretty happy about for a first grow.

I have been trying to let the last third of my crop get really Amber for night time sleep aids but they have been going tomorrow 12 weeks flowering and don’t seem to be getting much more Amber. The Northern Lights strain I have from Canuk seed company says this strain only takes seven-week to flower and I am approaching the end of week 12. The first close-up photo is that strain and it isn’t that Amber after all that time.

I also have an auto strain of Northern Lights from Crop King which has an advertised flowering time of eight weeks and if you look at the second close-up pic it doesn’t even have any Amber yet after almost 12 weeks. I don’t mind waiting because I have my earlier harvests to use but my problem is I am going to need that light to start my next generation off at 18/6 in another week so no matter what they look like Amber or not next week the rest are going to get the chop.

On a happier note I got some seeds for my next generation! White Widow and OG Kush and the fella gave me a few Royal Queen Critical seeds which according to the literature looks like a real producer and he says people love it. Woo Hoo!!

Always nice to be able to plan for future grows!

I have heard that some plants just won't amber no matter how long you leave them, but the clears should go cloudy. In terms of sleeping meds, if you don't get the amber you want, do a crappy job of drying and curing. High temps, in the light, not high RH though because that would mean rot. But that kind of poor drying will degrade the THC to CBN and give you more couch lock. Store the jars in the light as well!

I would go with Dinafem or GHSC

Just to let you know I took your advice and picked up White Widow and OG Kush in Dinafem. Should be starting one of each of them in a week or two. Will try and keep you posted if I can remember but hopefully you will drop by if I forget.
