First Grow In Over 20 Years! Northern Lights Under 600W LED

Great pics and terrific second harvest! All amber for the third harvest should be a good knockout med :).

I'm not pH'ing my nutes now, nor am I slurry testing until I see an issue. I'll be watching your experiment closely .

Thanks Shed; I’ve had a couple of bumps in the road but I am pretty happy with the final results.

Cool that you are not pH-ing nutes either now; I think keeping a lookout for issues is the way to go. I do have a couple bottom leaves that have died and I will have to look into that and monitor it but so far is very limited and the canopy looks extremely healthy. If I have any issues I will send you a line.

Nicely done...great haul there Homer.

Thanks, Sauga... It's not spectacular like over there at the Pinapple Palace but I am pretty happy with it. :thumb:

Flowering plants in the best of health eat their lower leaves so I wouldn't be too concerned about that.

Well, they have only been flowering about a week so I am not sure if that is still ok but I will be posting some pics of the leaves soon.

Homer, you have turned into a scientist :)
(1st pic is just for fun... Since we burp our jars)

Great pic Birdie!!! :laugh::rofl:

Awesome harvest homer looks like your going to have a good supply of meds at different stages! Excellent! Nice pics as well!

Thanks, Dutchman. So far so good thanks to everyone's help!!

Another busy day in the garden today. I moved my mostly harvested old plants into the veg closet because they don’t need much space now and are almost done and set the 300 W LED light to 12/12.

And here is the next generation now under of the big 600 W light in the main budding area!

I am pretty happy with the quadlining technique and now that my branches seem pretty firmly set I removed all my tiedowns to make watering easier.

The canopy looks nice and even, I would say just as good as my last crop using a scrog but without the hassle of having a net get in the way of watering and removing overflow and such. Good system!

Unfortunately, I have a fair number of dead bottom leaves on the next generation but I am hoping it is due to either the fact that I really dried the suckers out between wanderings to promote root growth or because I had them packed too tightly in the closet without ventilation and they got a little mouldy. I did find a little bit of mould on my wall in one area so I did put a fan in there last week but I am hoping that might be it. Anyway, I am hoping it is one of those two and I will stop losing bottom leaves. Other than that everything looks good.

You did a good job leveling the canopy, I stopped using scrogs because they’re just not needed if you top and train right!

Thanks, Pennywise. The scrog did work well for me but was a constant pain to work around so I am really happy my training worked pretty well without it.

Scrogs are a pain in the butt for sure.

I have been checking out your Perpetual Playhouse Journal and have gotten to about page 75 whereabouts you collected some pollen from a male plant. Pretty interesting next level thread.

I was wondering do you mostly grow from clones or seeds and do you have a preference? I ask because I was thinking once I have a few plants I like I could just keep things going by taking cuttings for each next generation as I put that plant into flower and I wonder if there is a drawback to that as opposed to starting from seed each time. But I don’t know if I want to grow all year round anyway because in the summer it does seem like it would be hard to keep up with, with all the time it takes so I was thinking of maybe just trying to grow a lot in the winter and take summers off. But time will tell.

You must be related to Dutchie, Homer. I'm amazed at how much info both you guys can absorb and keep it. I have a hard time most mornings remembering to wake up, so my hat goes off to you and Dutchie as the biggest sponges I know.
Well done!

I appreciate the compliment Sauga but it really isn’t deserving because being retired and with not much else to do with this crappy weather I can spend an incredible amount of time researching but really it takes so much time I don’t understand how you can work full time and keep your garden growing so you really need to take some of that credit yourself.

I don’t even know if I will have time to grow in the summer when there are things to do even without working. This is my first winter home being retired and I have to admit I feel like a naughty schoolboy who gets to stay home and do whatever he wants but it is nice.

I’ve grown from seed so far but with my next grow I’ll be hunting for some keepers then I can run clones.

Good to hear you don’t think there is anything wrong with running clones because I just see it as a way to save money on seeds and keep my best producers. I do have a couple clones of my Northern Lights in my latest generation so I will see how they produce pretty soon.

If you have a female plant that has been feminized and you pollinate it with a male will the seeds still be feminized that it produces?
