First Grow In Over 20 Years! Northern Lights Under 600W LED

Good luck on the height! You can always supercrop during stretch if you get some leaders breaking for the lights :).

Thanks and I have already had to. The Yummy seed I got free that I planted is 60% sativa and some stems have made the stretch. :thumb: Before the stretch.... lol.

Hi :)
White widow was a dream come true.
I always wanted to grow one.
OG kush, after reading about her, got me happy too. Mine didn't show up though. I think it was too cold for her.
If she hasn't popped in 2 days, I call her a no show.
Jack Herer, Pineapple Chunk and Northern Lights are others on my bucket list of dreams.

Sorry to hear that Birdie.. I'm sure you did the best with what you had to work with at the time. I know you got some tricks up your sleeve and you'll have a new one going in no time :)

I flipped my next generation because some are getting almost as tall as my mature plants are so I am afraid I am going to run out of headroom. I took cuttings and started seeds at the same time so the cuttings are taller since I quadlined the seedlings but with the seedlings raised up to the same height I am pretty happy with the canapy despite not using a scrog; that quadlining really works well and suprisingly after just topping my cuttings are pretty bushy. So far so good with Generation II. Fingers crossed....

Glad you are finding that the quadlining actually works! I know you are one of those people that have a really hard time believing in something until you do it or see it for yourself but I am happy that it's working out for you. Keep it up Homer!

Hi Birdie, welcome back. :ciao: Glad to hear your White Widow came up! :cheer:Really sorry to hear your OG Kush didn’t come up. :( I’m just about to check out the strains on your bucket list; I bet that they are good too. :thumb:

Yes thank you Asesino, the quadlining seems to have worked very well, good system you came up with. :bravo: I find it a lot better than a Screen of Green because although that system works pretty well I found it a pain to water and remove my runoff with a frame like that. :( Thanks for stopping by.

Here is my first harvest of about one third of my bud still a little too wet to go into jars but getting close. I think it weighs about 4 ounces and hopefully when dry if it’s about three then that means I probably will get about eight or 9 ounces in total from my grow. I figured if I got ten I was doing pretty good so I am happy with what I got. I’m not here to be showing off but I don’t want to be falling behind either, LOL. I am surprised that my buds don't have much density, they are kind of fluffy; hopefully that improves with maybe different strains?

I don’t know how people with full time jobs do it because it takes quite a bit of time and care. I find it fun to watch them grow and develop and it can be kind of a Zen like activity like when I am watering and being one with my plants but sometimes it’s just a chore that just has to be done when I get busy so I really admire you people who have real lives; taking care of any living thing is a commitment.

My one plant is getting nice and Amber much more so than just on Saturday when I did my original harvest. I can’t believe it changed so quickly. I was going to wait a full week to take my second harvest but I will have to keep an eye on it it’s changing so quickly.

I haven’t even touched my autos yet because they are still really clear.

Some strains go from not ripe to HARVEST ME pretty quickly so good to check often once you start to see amber. And close to 4oz dried sounds like a win to me :thumb:.

I thought my one plant went Amber pretty quickly so thanks for verifying they turn pretty quick Shed, I will keep a close eye on them. :thumb:

4 oz ooo Yeah, it is a win:thumb:
OG kush is on her way up. :yahoo:

Thanks, Birdie... Go Kush go!!! :cheer:
Pulling up a chair :goodjob:

Welcome aboard Qualitypotlover but no guarantees on the quality around here, lol....

Not that anyone will probably be too interested but I do have a bit of an update on my pH issues. For those not following my thread I had a really cheap pH meter so for a couple months I was feeding my plants with water way too acidic. I gave them a good flush till I got the runoff water to pH 6.3 as per Sheds recommendations.

I have been monitoring the runoff and it has creeped down to between 5.8 and six pH even though I have been feeding at 6.5 pH. Which is odd because I did a slurry test with my soil and it doesn’t lower pH and I took some of my tap water I use which is about 7.2 pH and added my nutes which brings it down to about 6.5 and I tested that over a week or so and that water actually went back up to about 7.2 where it originally was after a few days.

Because it seems like something drops my pH in my runoff water in my next generation from the very beginning I have been just using tap water with my nutes which brings it to 6.5 pH and you would think it would creep up just like my sample did but instead the runoff from these plants is about 6 pH? Really strange but since I seem to be within the limits I am going to go with that.

I read somewhere that a pH test is really just like a snapshot in time because pH will drift as things dissolve and I believe they said things like carbonates and bicarbonates. So this pH thing is not as simple as it seems I found. Or maybe I just have issues, lol….

I'm interested, and this ^.

I don't remember if you did your slurry test with distilled water or not (it makes a difference) but the alkalinity of your water and the type of nitrogen used in your nutrients make the difference in the drift of your soil pH. Sometime I will get a post on my thread of the conversation I had with an expert at ProMix.

I found an hour or two at night and things work great that way for me. Light schedule helps. I always have mine turn on at 7pm so I've had my dinner, puffs and off I go to the tent.

Fluffiness could be many things, but I hear more often than not it's lighting issues. It's something worth looking into more for your own information unless others can give advice. But I haven't had a need to go looking yet.
