First Grow In Over 20 Years! Northern Lights Under 600W LED

I haven’t posted in a couple days on my thread because I was in the cooking thread trying to get opinions on how people feel ingesting versus smoking affects them. I got lots of good advice and opinions but I decided the only way to truly know was to smoke one so I smoke half a joint last night and was completely wasted all night, LOL.

That taught me that my plants are ready so I harvested one third and I will do the rest in stages over the following weeks to see the difference. Here is a pic of my harvest of about one-third of my plants.

Here is my biggest bud.

The old garden looks diminished but she is still chugging away.

This is the next generation and they are definitely as big as my as my last generation was when I flipped them to bud. I was going to wait until I could get them under the big light to start them flowering but I was thinking I could do that with my smaller light too in the closet and have both generations budding. I just assume though if I let them veg longer and let them get a lot bigger that I will get bigger plants and bigger butts when I do flower so I am thinking of letting them go for a while meaning till the last generation is finished budding?

You could flower them in the small space and then move them when there's room. Or leave them vegging until there's room. Some plants grow bigger buds on bigger plants and some grow more of them from all the new budsites that grow. Either way it's a win!

Harvest looks great and that long one looks terrific! Have fun with the trim :).

That is good to read that a bigger plant produces more bud which was why I was thinking of letting them stay in veg. I just can’t let them get too high so I don’t have enough headroom with my light but I have a ways to go in that department.

Yes, I am pretty happy with the harvest; I know it is not a record breaker but for a first I think I did okay and after smoking that half a joint and making some oil I realize I don’t need much so I really do have a lot even if it doesn’t seem that way. Again thanks for all the help.

Glad to help! And don't get hung up on how much you harvested or anything like that for your first (or any) grow. Some folks here are thrilled with their four little fluffy buds and some complain about their 7 ounces. You were successful at getting to harvest and that's a win in my book. A little tweak with each grow and it gets better and better!
:goodjob:

I think that’s a healthy perspective to have and I am very happy with my modest harvest. And you are right I learned so much from my mistakes in my first grow my second generation plants are doing much better than the first generation at this point. :high-five: :ciao:

Wow, I missed the chop chop party! Awesome job Homer! Congrats on your first of many downs! Glad you got wasted off that blunt. I remember my first time and giggled for days. I was hooked on the feeling from that point on.
You're gonna nail it on the next grow. You learned a lot and have a good following so it'll be great to see what you do next!

Hey Sauga!! You didn’t miss the chop chop party by much because it was today. I only took a third and will take the rest gradually over the next couple weeks.

I did get wasted but it was far from my first time but it has been 17 years so it kind of felt like a first time. Sort of like a born again virgin.

I did learn a lot and a lot from you so thanks again and you are right my next generation is doing better than the first already. Great site with good folks, think I will stick around for a while. :nomo:

Yeah... Harvest party!!!.
I'm so happy for you Homer, well done :)
You got to grow and harvest your own cannabis, so you should only be proud of yourself
Congrats to a successful grow and here is to many more to come :passitleft:

Late to the party but enjoying what I read.. here to stay now

Congrats on your 1st chop chop.. I'm 2nd day into flower. It will be my 2nd crop from start to finish with many failed attempts in the middle....

Loving the reflector you made way back on the 1st page... I need to make me a small reflector like that, for when I go perpetual and start some new puppys off..

Can't wait to catch up on the other 45 pages here l.ao

Thank you, Birdie. That is so kind of you; thanks for all the help. I am reading your journal too; I was actually thinking of growing the 2 strains you are growing because I read they are both very relaxing so I am interested how they work out!!

Well if you learned from me then you learned from Penny, Shed, Birdie, Dutch, Magooooo, Ase and many more that learned me. Well done everyone!

Looks like I learned from the best then buddy. Thanks for paying it forward!!

Welcome aboard Th34... I am actually going perpetual too and have my second generation of cuttings and seeds in the wings in the veg closet!!

Totally agree 420%

Teamwork makes the dream work!

I flipped my next generation because some are getting almost as tall as my mature plants are so I am afraid I am going to run out of headroom. I took cuttings and started seeds at the same time so the cuttings are taller since I quadlined the seedlings but with the seedlings raised up to the same height I am pretty happy with the canapy despite not using a scrog; that quadlining really works well and suprisingly after just topping my cuttings are pretty bushy. So far so good with Generation II. Fingers crossed....
