good to hear your plants are looking better, chances are the roots where water logged and possibly started rotting, let it dry out before watering again, and when you do water and add nutes add them watered down so as not so shock the plant, been as you have flushed the soil chances are you have taken all the goodness out as well, so the first time you feed you will need to add nutes, normally when you have to flush as a last resort you flush with water that contains a week mixture of nutes, else the plant has got nothing to take in after everything has been taken out the soil, these plants will keep growing even when all the water has gone out the soil so you only need to water when the pots are dry, you can poke you fingers down the edge of the pot and get down about 3 or 4 inches and if you pull you fingers out and soil is stuck to them then it probably wont need watering, but if you pull them out and its dry then water, the best way i have found is to fill a pot of the same size with dry compost and then compare the pots with the plant in to these, now as the plants get bigger they will add weight but its still the best method i have found of checking when to water. my 2 biggest plants are in full flower and im watering every 4 days, even though my temps are up the pots still feel wet enough after 3 days and the plants are not showing any signs of wilting or any defficiency, most new growers including myself over watered them all the time thinking they needed water due to the top of the pot been dry, but the top 2 inches can be dry due to the temp but the rest of the pot can still be soaking wet, and these plants dont like soaking wet, they like time to dry out and the roots get oxygen out the soil, but keeping them water logged will give you loads of stunted growth and root rot in the end.
People i think i have got a problem, im not sure if i have caused the damage as its not the whole plant, or if i have dropped something on the part im going to tell you about, but i dont have anything i can drop on the plants liquid wise.
anyway this is what i have found, on the one plant their is a stem thats not the highest with bud growing on it, now the bud at the end of the branch dont look like the buds on the rest of the plant or the other plant, the 2 leaves either side at the bottom of the bud went brown and crispy and when i touched them they fell off and was bone dry and crumbled like they had been burned, then when i looked at the bud it wasnt the usualy healthy white colour like the rest of the buds, it looked like it had been burned, the white hairs had gone brown and retracted and it does look like its been burned, then the next bud down at the node below has got the same look to it, the leaf has gone brown, on closer inspection the stem at the top where the main bud is has a funny colour to it, it looks like it has been burned with a lighter or has got 2 close to the light, the problem is this bud is one of the lower ones at the side so if the light was burning the plant then it would of burned the buds that was say 4 inches closer to the light that than this one, i dont have any undiluted nutes around the plants, i dont get any nute mixture on the leaves, i dont have any liquids above the plant apart from when i spray water on the plants to mist them, this water i let stand for at least 24 hours.
so im getting concerned, the rest of the plant looks perfect, all the other buds look perfect, i have inspected the whole plant, every branch and bud, now im not sure what has caused it, it has not been near the light, its a lower bud site, but when i touched the leaf attatched to the bottom of the bud it just fell off, now the leafs fingers hand closed in at the middle and gone brown the very end still looked green in colour, but the leaf was bone dry and crumbled, its as if it didnt get any water, but it hasnt dried out like wilted, it dried out and went crispy.
now i have checked the plant i found this on and the other, their is no other signs of this anywhere, i noticed it a couple of days ago but thought it might be where i touched the plant, but when i looked today it was dry, the bud looks like its gone dry and the white pistils have gone a burned brown colour.
the rest if the plant is fine, the next node down looks like its got the same problem, but it has spread no further than that, is it something i have caused, its not heat related unless my bulb or reflector has some how caused a heat spot on just that one part of the branch and the one bud, or is it some kind of nute burn or nute lock out, their is no other signs of nute problems on the rest of the plant and it looks really healthy, its just that one bud that has the problem, is it worth me cutting the branch out to prevent it spreading just in case it does spread, i could cut the branch at the stem and use it as a clone and cut the bud off, ill take a picture of it tomorrow before i pull it, im not sure what it is or whats caused it, if the plant had other signs of stress then i could understand it, but its just one branch and the main bud, it honestly looks like i have held the plant close to the light and its frazzled the bud and leaves,
cud it be nute lock out issues, but wouldnt i notice this on the rest of the plant, bearing in mind i noticed this bud 3 days ago and its not affected any of the rest of the plant or other bud sites, apart from this one bud the plant looks amazing and perfectly healthy, should i cut it off and make a clone out of it, should be giving me super cropped results,
i would really like some words of wisdom and some help on what the problem could be, but the rest of the plant seems un-affected but if i left the bud on the plant would it spread, now where the bud is on the branch it has turned the branch a dark colour exactly where the bud is, so is this a problem im getting with the plant or a hot spot from my light, the reflector is hammered metal type so its the best reflector but not sure if it gives hot spots like foil would, im really at a loss to what it is, ive read guides on how to spot def problems but their is nothing like it listed, ill try searching the net, im hoping someone can jump in and help me, could it be something i had on my hands when i touched the plant, or is this something thats going to cause me a problem, ill try and take a pic tomorrow but with my camera i dont think ill get good pics, i did taste the burned leaf matter and it tasted harsh and had a real nasty taste to it,
quick update on my dwarf auto, it has started growing a bit taller now, not sure if they are just pre flowers as i can start to see the bulge at the base of the hair where its going to form buds, but it has got taller in the last 2 days so im hoping it is now in its stretch and might suprise me and give me more back,
my microscope came today, it is a 60x scope, i had a look at some of the leaves i pulled off to get light into the plant, now the big fan leaves but smaller ones, i only pulled 2 off, and looking with my eyes they looked like the leaves do when in veg, but i used my microscope and the whole of the leaf was covered in tiny white crystals, would this be trics, they are tiny and this was not a bud leaf but its seems covered in like snowy crystals, only tiny but can be seen with microscope i have been throwing leaves away as i have pulled them from the plant mainly in veg stage, so next time i pull leaves in veg im going to have a look and check for these crystals, but are they crystals im looking at or something else, if they are crystals then id be better off keeping the leaves and using them for hash a few grows down the line.
can someone please put my mind at rest about the one bud problem im getting, the leaf that fell off and crubled tasted very harsh, i tend to put the odd leaf in my mouth when i take them off, not sure why i know i aint getting nothing off it, guess its just habbit, so i noticed a huge difference in taste from this leaf to the normal leaves, i dont eat them just habbit sort of thing, like having a cig in my mouth, but anyway i decided to taste it and check if i could taste any difference and as soon as it touched my tongue i spat it out cuz it was so harsh, please tell me this is an isolated issue and not a problem with the plant, id hate to lose the whole plant at this stage, id get nothing off it if i had to cut it down now, i dont think ill have to do that due to the whole plant looking healthy its just this one bud, could it be burn from the fan blowing directly on it, im not sure if it did. just trying to think what could of caused it.
it looks just like it would if you had put a lighter to close to the bud and leaves thats the kind of look it had to it, the hairs on the bud had shrivvled and looked burnt, thats the best i can explain, ill try take a pick when the lights back on tomorrow, im just uploading a few pics not that i took before the lights went off but none of the damage, ill post them seperate tomorrow
