FelipeBlu's Auto Jack & Kryptonite, PSMini LED, Root Pouch, Recipe 420

Thanks for the feedback Phobos!

And thank you Moonshine! It’s been fun! Kind of like fast bonsai.

Shed, do you mean the stems from the junction of the main stem and the first node? I expect those to actually get pretty big - there’s already secondary growth on 2 nodes.

And now, it’s Krypta’s night (Day 28) to show off:

And here’s the growth at the apical meristem:

To me, it looks like stems at nodes 7 & 8, and possibly also at node 9, just being pushed out. So I’m going to continue training.

Thanks for stopping by! :thanks:

Thanks Shed. Looking forward to seeing that. I must have missed you doing that before. Going back to look at your Grow #1 now.

Correction to the above post (waited too long to edit) - yesterday was Krypta’s Day 27. Today, she is 4 weeks old.

Shed, after a session with Miss K tonight, I think I understand what you’re trying to get through my thick head. You are referring to the puny, airy growth from the secondary nodes on the side stems from the 1st primary node. Yeah, that stuff is pretty worthless, and the plant shouldn’t waste energy on it.

Anyway, since I have your attention everyone, may I present Miss K, freshly trimmed, tucked, and tied down for her 4 week celebration:

And not to be ignored, Miss Jackie must show off her huge :yummy:

Nice greenhouse! I'm not sure I would bank on those temps sticking through the rest of the winter though :)

One thing to watch out for on K is that the string doesn't interfere with any growth or flowers. I'm seeing a touchy spot in that top pic at 10:00. Also, I think you're done tying down. Just keep your two main stems low with a bit of tightening would be my call.

LOL Yeah, I don't really expect it to stay above 70 for the rest of winter, but I do think that freezing temps are probably behind us at this point. The greenhouse isn't just for my use though. My wife wants to get some of her herbs and veggies going. The greenhouse should at least provide enough protection from what rain and cooler temps we're likely to get here.

Thanks for the tip. Since my accidental severing of the second node stem, I try to keep the strings away from hindering young, tender growth. That particular string is very loose. I did include a fan stem in the loop to keep the leaf tucked out of the way.

Yep, that's about what I figured too. Just trying to keep everything as low as possible going into the stretch, since K is currently only 22" below the Mini. Neil (Perfect Sun) recommends no closer than 16" during flowering. I'm already wishing I had gone with a 5-foot tall tent instead of 4.

Okay good people of 420Mag, I’m going to have to issue an advisory here. For those who are squeamish or easily shocked, may I suggest that you avoid the next post.

You have been warned.

But in the meantime, so there is actual content in this post, I would like to briefly return to the subject of a previous discussion. I watered Jackie last night with 2L of water with 2ml of ProteKt, pH-adjusted to 6.8 (no photo, so you’ll have to take my word for it). The runoff (~300ml) measured 6.0, as seen here:

If you think that looks like urine, you’re not far off. It’s full of the plant’s waste products and excess salts, just like our pee. The point being that it is always a good thing to water to at least 10% runoff, so that this (low pH) crap doesn’t continue to accumulate around the roots of your plant.

Alright, for those who have chosen to remain, here we go...

So you may consider me crazy, brave, or just stupid, but since I have 2 plants doing extremely well, I decided to revisit the idea of topping. Last night, Jackie, at Day 24, was pushing out Node 8, which I now believe is right about where Autos start the stretch at the beginning of flowering. After careful consideration of her general vigor, I topped her above Node 7. Will I get 2 ‘main’ colas? Or will this stunt growth all over, and result in all the buds being smaller? Stay tuned...

wow thats ballsy ... usually if the plant is happy she should not slow much ... when they are slightly at unease they can react very volatile and stunt for a week ... guess time will tell in your case lol ... ;)

What is it about this site? It’s freaking addictive! :nomo::laugh:

So here’s something strange. Miss K has one stem that has decided to start alternating nodes. What’s that about? Should I be more vigilant of possible hermie conditions on this stem?

So here’s a couple more pics of K:

And of Jackie following last night’s topping. She is pushing out new growth - no slowing down for her!

Well looks like the gamble on the top paid off!

I wouldn't worry about alternating nodes. It's a good sign you have a female and she has reached maturity
