You can see the fan leave damage all over the leaves.. This wasn't present @ 3 days ago. the sugars still seem mostly fine.

Everywhere you see the spots of brown is a hollow space under it. Burning it from loss of plant cell structure. Eaten! So i read i guess. No leaves are completely dead so on advice of a Spider clan member who shall remain un named.(*no warranty expressed or implied) and I totally agree with... I am leaving all remaining leaves. Probably til they die or harvest at this point... no actually i know that...

And finally since I explained in a earlier post what my gear was here is a horrible pic of it. tent to the left 2x4x6 all the pics of plant . its on right... and vent/ air hanging in middle.. basement and floor slopes a little towards me.. a leak wouldn't pool here... there's a drain there.. small but trying to be efficient.

Ok back to check on her and turn on the light... then off to bed... long day...Thanks again all!
night all..

Good night Far East. Thanks for the laugh. Think we need a secret oath? :laughtwo:

LOL and hand shake... oh yah that wouldn't work ;) Thank you for the fun!

So i spent 30 minutes last night after my posts looking for more and couldnt find a one mite. That sure can't be a bad thing.
I visited grow shop and he recommended at this point to use mighty wash by npk cause i am far enough in flower.. Says i can use it straight on but no sun after til it dries and stop a couple days before harvest. I did tell him I was gonna wash after so that may play a part in it. (Sue method) ;)

I'll probably inspect again tonight and if i cant find any mites.. I'll use the wash in 3 days or so....

back to work
Have a good day ;)

News Flash!

8-21-2015 (69-60-38) I think....

So I got another intake fan today and set that up to see if it will help out temps. We are having a heat spell where I am so it has been a little struggle.

I spent 40 min or so looking for pests! YIPPEE YAHOOO nothing!:thumb:

Maybe the infestation was popping so early that the neem worked well. Maybe 2 days from now I'll be crying again when the 3000 eggs hatch. No clue. I hate the "gleem " on the leaves now and this leads into.....

All the white hairs are changing brown. Soooo... normally thats like a good thing... but did I cause it with the neem oil? I looked close with my 30x lupe and all the dots are clear the best I understand how.. (made sense to me) I did shut off hps for 2 hours last night and had a fluoro on only. Is this a hermie sign?

The plant didnt stop production cause of any of this it seems. Only slightly from the heavy defol last week. Where the pistils go in they are now forming little pistil nugs.

I'll get some pics up soon.

Thanks to the Spider Mite Clan for bailing me out yesterday!

hey man just read through your journal as i only found it today . I really like your style of posting and its really easy to learn a lot of information from your posts. I'm not growing hydro but its all so fascinating as i have plans for the future.

just wanted to say thanks for being a good source of valuable information
cheers man !
:lot-o-toke::peace::party::ganjamon:

also if ur in canada u get can get amazing Honeywell mini fans at crappy tire for like $15 and they are AMAZING . I have a 10 foot long walk in closet 3 feet wide and 7 feet tall and one of those fans can easily expel all air 2-3x in 5 mins. just a really good value ive found :)

That's a fabulous compliment thank you... Funny part is it just sorta how I am in non forum life. But i do always apologize for the first few days when I had to just catch up.. I didnt start my log here ;/ it was in a book.

Not trying to gain followers or nothing but one of my links below is my blog and perpetual that I try to stay on as well. I know for me this blog would have helped a lot. Especially now that it hasn't been just all rosie. hehe (clones and seeds I am killing everything!)

ok off to get some pics... posts where off for a few days while I battled the damn mites! I can see the nightly inspections for the rest of the grow may be time consuming...

Thanks again and feel free to always chime in or ask questions. Some really smart people have been sneaking around here...

The plant looks very good actually. Nice strong stems.
I'm glad you figured out the mites were the root cause.
Hydro can be a mysterious beast. At least for Vlad.

So funny you say that I totally agree and was thinking it... Refreshed my browser to write a post and read yours...
Pics coming too

Yeah!! Mite Free!!! Knock on wood. That neem is powerful stuff. I did a simple topdressing of the meal and wiped out my fungus gnats in a matter of days.

I would assume your pistils are changing because it's time for that to happen. Only you know that for sure though.

I swear my plant winked at me.

Maybe it was cause I got rid of those things that where eating her alive... maybe cause I oiled her down .. I don't know heck maybe she just wanted to do it cause it was friday. Pistils turning brown ;) I am going to assume it is a good thing. and her leaves have perked up.. Buds are now actually forming pods if you look close. And to throw some more positive JU Ju at it I will also assume that it is nature smiling ;) Rather than the possibility I totally messed her up from all of the above.. ROFL

20 more min at least looking for bugs.. still negative.. (phew) Swept floor... some... rerouted new intake to blow the incoming cold on the canopy...Still not happy with the temps... oh well not cooking them yet and the temp goes much lower at lights out... 600 hps and it is adjustable... I KNOW 75 % will fix temp issue. I can't do it.. Just can't (sniffle).

OK babble babble.. Freakin OG Kush makes me a talker...

8-21-2015_A.JPG

The whole grow still has a lot of leaves and none left need to be removed.

8-21-2015_B.JPG

If you look above you can see the spotting on the leaves.. some may have started even on sugars.. The weird thing is none of the affected leaves got destroyed. The mites ate a small dot and moved on ate a small dot .. moved on .. rinse repeat.
So I can tell other than some... crispy ends the leaves still seem to rebound.

8-21-2015_C.JPG

This one here if you look close ( Still am horrible with HPS pics) you can see some pistils turn brown. again good.. bad .. don't know ... but oooooohhhhhhmmmm (peaceful) It's good!

I wonder if the oily leaves are like magnifiers for the light.. and that actually isn't joking.. If i put baby oil on and go outside i'd be in the hospital. ( ok that part was a joke)

Almost forgot the vitals...
PH 5.64 and PPM 879/834 corrected
Doh forgot those high temps and humid.
I went to look at a humidifier and came home without one... not sure why... really need to get one and start regulating that.
:peace:
For now ....

Nothing at all is telling me this isn't the time but it started as bag seed of something that appears wasn't total crap..loll

tric's the best i can tell totally clear so really still on what i figured schedule.. 8-9 weeks.. I am at 5 and half or so... First grow so my numbers could even be off.

Maybe just maybe the 1.5-2 hours no lights and the bath spiked her some and she treated it like a season change i have no idea... but I am happy I gave her a bath yesterday. I can tell every day from here if i have to retreat wont happen so smooth I feel. This was way pushing it.. (still crossed fingers)

The new stuff I got NPK wash all the reviews say it can be used complete up to harvest or real close... and noone seems to say anything bad about it taste add or anything .. the knock.. they list no where what is in it... 99. something water and inerts it says.
So it's like ok last resort... it it all comes back i'll light spray some of that.

Ok off to post about my future stuff... hoping to end this stress filled thread soon... j/k

I must of been asleep or something. Had to read 3 pages to catch up. :)

Those weird brown spots on your leaves don't look like any mite damage I've ever seen and I've see lots. Mites leave little white dots randomly all over the leaves until they go almost completely white in a bad infestation. Those spots are something else and maybe the neem will help with whatever it is.

Here's a recent thread with pictures of mite damage. White dots - Black spiders

Normally when you spray for mites you don't see any for the next day or so if you do a good job of spraying because the adult are all dead. Then the eggs that those laid start to hatch and you hit them again 3 days after the first treatment to kill them before they get mature enough to lay their own eggs. Four treatments should do it if you can soak the whole plant down well each time.

When I did my second treatment I wheeled my 500W shop light over to be able to see where I had sprayed a lot clearer. The first time I used 250ml and thought I did a good job but was running short at the end. I mixed up 350ml for the 2nd time and when I was done I could still find dry spots all over the undersides of the leaves so emptied another 350ml on her before I was confident that it was 100% covered. I couldn't even find a mite before I started but did find a thrip.

Real PITA is what bugs are.

Ok subbed even though I got the feeling this one is almost done and even though I just noticed that this brings me up to exactly 600 thread subscriptions, most of which are not very active thankfully though it's still getting very ridiculous. But it looks interesting so I'm going to read through. Just have to get my nightly 7 minutes of sleep first...

Great Info thanks for checking it out...
The spots start as little white spot on the underside of the leaves where they seem to be chewing. and then its like the brown on the top is because it gets so thin it's like it burns through makes it brown. You are absolutely right that it also could be two totally different things. I was treating it for cal/mag and high nutes the day I found the first bad leaf. I thought that was it. the very next day found the mites. They are the white ones with the two black dots. Either way the two remedies seem to have been good for her.

I don't think I will neem again this late in flower.. I will spend my evening searching the leaves and If i see ANY mites.. Treat with the npk bud wash stuff.. Hope that it doesn't impact the flavor. I'll bud wash with sue's stuff when I get there...
I hope that it was a small pop of bugs and that they where young enough not to lay them selves. I am in total observe mode.
Probably total lleaf inspection last night ... maybe 2 hours on the single plant.. Nothing but the damage and no bugs...

Tric's are starting to change so getting close...Still clear with lupe tho just hairs,,;) Fun with unknown strains... not...

glad to have you Weasel!

Was a rather simple run for the first scrog DWC until... recently....

The beginning was a mess if you read back I simply data logged the first while. Now I speak daily...

Hope you enjoy it... ;)
My perpetual is in my sig too its similar to this if I can get you hooked ;)

Off to slave my pay....

Thrips are a lot easier to deal with than mites. I've got rid of them by hand a couple times before. Need to get some Tyvek coveralls and treat the grow room like an operating theater. :)

Far East, you should be able to just mash any mites you find from now on if you check all the leaves daily. The majority should be gone and it will just be a few here and there now. In the summer I'm almost phobic about changing my clothes and especially socks and shoes that I have worn outside in the grass. Winter is much easier. The little bastards are buried under 4 ft of snow and froze solid at -40. lol

I couldn't get rid of thrips that easy they were everywhere I had to spray and clean everything
it was last summer im glad they aren't around this summer knock on wood

Well day three for larvae is tomorrow.. not out of the woods yet...May have a second wave to battle soon... At least I have better ammo this time! I hope... I have spent a lot of time flipping up her skirt to look for them. And I guess it will continue til harvest...

Once this grow is done I will pull everything out of the room and spray it all... Easy to move my veg stuff and I have to switch it all over anyway.
