Fanleaf's Huge 42 COB Array Build Plus Other Builds

Two heatsinks shipped to you is £40
two heat sinks, mounting rail, potentiometer, screws, 2x cob holders and 2x ledil Angelina reflectors would be £50

The assembled kit looks like this. You just paint it (not mandatory) and provide the heatsink and COBs. Does not include the dimmer case.

That sounds great

Check Jamie at COB kits first. Not sure what his shipping to U.K is.

Oh i thought he/his site was based in the UK. I might just get the smaller driver u suggested and just use these crappy heatsinks at the lower power for now until i know i can do this and then build a better light later on with more than 2 cobs in.

That Cobkits uk is not Jamie's site. Looks like someone ripped off his name. Pretty pricey. £110 for a driver? Same driver is £85 at Mouser uk.

Sounds like a much easier idea. 75w per cob doesn't sound like a lot but most guys run their COBs around 35w. So even at 75w 2 COBs is very, very bright.
Mouser UK for the driver. HLG-120h-1050b

I thought they looked a bit expensive for most things. Mouser uk seems better and is not too far away from me, close enough for me to drive there.

Edited my last post.

Mouser uk it is then and if this little conversion/build goes well i will built a light with more than just 2 cobs after it, i want to completely get rid of my 600w hps' and change to COB's completely, HPS are good but the electricity cost are a killer.

75w seems like enough then if other growers are only using 35w i will be over the moon with 75w.

On a different note, have you ever tried out light addicts idea of backbuilding (snipping the tops of the buds to make them fatter) ?, i was reading about it last night.

I do it all the time. We call it "topping". Topping forces the plant to produce 2 main branches and therefore 2 main colas. Topping the two previously topped branches produces 4 main colas, etc.

Yeah i always top mine in veg a few times. But this is topping the tip of the buds after around 5 weeks in flower and it supposedly makes the buds swell much much more and makes the buds much denser. There is a thread on here about it, with growers posting pics of them doing/done it, before and after pics, and the results seems impressive.

Hmmm. I'll look into it. I've trimmed tops because of mold or rot from outdoor plants but never intentionally without a reason.
