Fanleaf's Huge 42 COB Array Build Plus Other Builds

Im thinking I may put either the light I just shown or my 4 chip cree I just made...

Up on line. I dont really need either of them. Just adicted to building them lol.

I am sooooo anxious to do a Cree or Vero light!
But unfortunately all money has gone to my other hobby, lol my truck!
New turbo piping, turbo and fuel system...
Looks like I'll be drooling and watching a bit longer lol.

Fanleaf's Huge 42 Cree CXB3590 COB Array Build Plus Other Builds

Anyone know how to switch 2 COBs on to 4 COBs on (4 cob array) ?
I've tried 3 different ways and each way drops the current by 25-50%.
This was the most successful attempt with a DPDT switch.

Hey fan, is that 7 volts shy on 5 veros on a 240h c1400 is that calculations or actual meter across. I'm trying 5, I've called bridgelux . Their tech told me at 140mm d series uses a little above 36v, he said like 36 to 36.8. He told me the higher the amperage of driver the higher the voltage. I came up with same thing from their spec sheets. I'm going to test it this weekend to make sure, I just want all 25 to be same. I can get another 240h c1400 for $55 shipped

Bullshit. It wont hit 1400ma. I just had to take a 240-1400 off of 5 veros 2 hours ago because it wouldnt drive above 199 watts. At 1400ma they run at 37.2 volts. 37.2×5 chips=186v needed to hit 1.4 amps. Driver tops at 179v as advertised. It will fit yes but it will not drive them at 1400ma. You get just above 1100ma or so and thats it. Fluke dont lie.
My just tested results as follows:
240-1400 driver
5 veros=199 watt

5 crees=245 watts

That is why you now see a 320on this 5 vero unit. I wanted to use the 240-1400 but got shit results. Had to put my 320-1400 on it. Went from 199 watts to 280 watts. They are both same current drivers (1400) ma so technically even though one of them was a 240 and the other one was a 320 if the 240 could possibly drive them at 1400 milliamps I would have got the same exact output with either driver but I didn't. Not even close. The 320 drives them right up to 1,400 milliamps and I get 280 watts. The 240 drives them at about 1100 milliamp because it runs out of voltage and I only get 199 watts. Being the same exact current output for the drivers if the 240 could do the job correctly I would have the same exact output with both drivers.

Ok, that is what I wanted to know. I knew it would fire up, already did that, but didn't use meter to check output. I've called everone, no one could give me definite answer. That is why I asked if you calculated or actual test. Seems like from vero spec sheet, the lower the current, the lower the voltage required.

The lower the current the lower the voltage is the same for all cobs but the cree is a 36 volt chip at 2100 milliamps where the Vero runs 37.2 at 1400 milliamps. It's just enough to screw over the idea of running 5 veros CORRECTLY with a 240-1400 because they top out and 179 volts so you will never get 1400 milliamps but more like 1100..
The cree chips you can run 5 on that driver and still have a volt or two left over at 1400ma just because they are naturally a slightly lower voltage chip and at 1400ma the cree runs somewhere around 35 volts.

I can use the 240's for a Cree build, I already have most of chips. For 25 veros, I might just add another driver, or buy bigger drivers

Yeah bro. With that 25 veros I would go 4 drivers man
4 of the 320-1400 will drive 24 veros at 6 chips per driver with a little headroom. The 320 costs more but you need less drivers.

Ill draw it up for you when I get done working tomorrow. Your switch will do it just wired differently

Thanks bro. The best I could come up with is 2 parallel circumstances but it's cutting the current in half when I add the other two lights but keeping the voltage the same (or close to it)
