Its true CREE is overpriced these days, the competition will end up killing them off if they dont lower prices.

Anyway you guys should check alibaba instead of digikey.

Got multiple quotes for Vero 29 C gen 7 chips (the more efficient version compared to the D) for $21.50 each...

and quoted $10.50 for Citizen 1212s...

Digikey seems overpriced...

I use futerelectronics. They're about $9 a cob cheaper if you don't mind buying 50 at a time. Not sure the shipping from china but I get $7 shipping (free over $250) from future.

As a side note. You CAN drive 4 Vero D series with one HLG-240h-C1750.
Tested. Draws 189w at cold start and 224w after 2 hours with SST120 sinks. I will run a 12hr test tonight.

I should have my new frame built this weekend, 5 chips per 250h-c1400. I'll have the little ac displays running to show watts, I'll hook meter up to double check the displays. Hey JimmyJames905, I got mq500 in today, but they left it outside in monsoon. $500 sitting in the rain. Ups is supposed to pick it up tomorrow, I told them I don't want wet, make em replace it. That's 2nd time ups has done that to me, 1st was muzzle loader that sat outside for 6 days in the snow.

37-38USD Vero $24 USD where I buy. Still highly prefer the Cree for efficiency if they can be afforded

Another side note....Using a HLG-240H-C1400 you can drive 5 Crees at a full 1400mA for 245 watts but you can only drive 4 veros at 1400 ma with it. You can run 5 but the driver runs 7 volts shy so you only get 199 watts with 5 veros vs the 245 watts with the 3590's.

5 vero 29's on a 240-1400??? The driver runs out of voltage by 7 volts...It will do 5 crees at 1400mA for 240+ watts but you wont hit 1400mA with 5 veros. You will only get 199 watts from that setup. You will only get 40w per chip bro.

My latest creation is complete. My first Vero rig. 0 through 285 watts. 4x 4000k and 1x 3000k 90CRI. Heres it in the shop along with my pup.

I am sooooo anxious to do a Cree or Vero light!
But unfortunately all money has gone to my other hobby, lol my truck!
New turbo piping, turbo and fuel system...
Looks like I'll be drooling and watching a bit longer lol.
