Exotic Genetix Trap Star Grow Journal By TwoX

Woah hella frosty buds floyd! U guys might be on to something with these fire genetics!!

Yeah Floyd... g'damnit all... gonna have to grab a few packs of the Trap Star now. Man that's some frosty gear. I think I just gotta little chill looking at all that frost. Sheesh. Good job bro :thumb:

TrapStar update:

We're on a roll. Thing are looking good and out of the initial 5 that I put into flower 2 of them turned out male. That leaves me 3 females I hope. One of them has showed female parts and the other two haven't shown pistols yet but they are not creating clusters like the males. Fingers crossed.. now I have to choose a male. Both of them showed sex in veg and they were both the suspect ladies from my previous post.. called it

TrapStar#3. Male.. I think this one may be my keeper.
He s not as tall as 2 and seems to be holding up his branches a little better. Node stacking after the initial stretch seems a little tighter and the fans are just a little wider. Smell coming from him is of a musky tomatoes plant. I dont want to keep both so i have to choose.. he doesnt look like hes going to bust yet so ill keep him in flowering for a bit longer.

TrapStar#2.Male.
similar to 3 but a tad taller. He also had a nasty little stretch and a wider node spacing. His branches seem like they may start flopping over once some weight is added and overall seem very similar to 3.. I have one more male in veg labeled TS6. He was my runt. He is a slower grower but stacks nodes like a made man. I might label him my keeper male.

Remember this guy?, he ended up male.

Once the ladies start flowering we will start taking some notes and find a keeper. I'm looking for a shorter plant with StarFighter dominate bud growth and hella frost. Wish me luck.:thumb:

D@mn.... That's a frosty pheno right there.. Looks great. I see the StarFighter in her too. How are the other phenos? Doesnt look like she stretched to much either.:thumb:
The other phenos had to be moved off site to a friend who could handle the care of them. I had to do some rearrangements/upgrades in my room and wasnt able to tend to their continued growth. Took the favorite out of the group as well as some cuttings of the other phenos to flip after this TS1.

She didn't stretch as much as I thought she would, but she seems to be stacking & packing it on nicely. This TS1 and I had a 50 shades of gray relationship in the beginning. I had her tied down nice and good until after I flipped her and then I cut her free for the stretch.

Some weird Calyex growth..

Wtf is that!

And that..
20170615_195214.jpg

Dissected under scope... premature male flowers.. All three females in flower are growing clusters... So much for finding a keeper.. All 3 will get worked over with a razor blade and tweezers to minimize any damage And checked over every watering for new growth.. If I do find a stable one she will be crossed with my male and hopefully we have a stable pheno hunt through the f2s.

The males... looking kinda cool

The veg.
HeresTS6... He showed his sex and is living with the other males
20170613_171944.jpg

I believe these are both females... They hit flower next week.
20170613_171825.jpg

Ts8 on the right showed sex after the topping similar to the other males so he's in the big flowering tent waiting to prove his sex.

And that's all folks.. I've been seed free for well over a year and a half with no hermie issues so I would like to blame this on myself but I'm blaming this one on Exotic... bummer.. I may be a little disappointed but i will still grow out the females and deal with the issue at hand as best as i can... Im not scatred of hermies anymore, there just more work.

Hey there Twox.... are those male bits WAY down low and only on the stalk and not on any branches where the flowers are??

They are a type of nanner.. I've had them before and never found them until trim when I found a half dozen seeds in some popcorn nugs with one of those in your pic there tucked in behind the popcorn. Nothing up high and only a few seeds. If it was full blown hermies you would see more of them like on the male plants you have. Hermie plants start out female then grow as many or more male bits. IF it gets to that point cut your losses.

Can be from stress... more likely genetics. "Breeders" that self plants with chemicals to short cut growing out properly F1 - F2 - F3 etc, and now this is the result.
Hopefully this isn't the result of the new version of The Cube... I'll be freaking pissed.

What seedbank did you get your seeds from. I'd be asking for replacements of something else??

Man if it's genetics... I'm in trouble.. I got heat stress, light leaks, lights that are too bright... almost every stressor that I could have right now sans nutrient issues.

I'm not breeding so every once in a while I get nanners I don't stress it since its usually late in flower I just harvest.... haven't gotten seeds or VERY few. I was always happy when I found a few seeds.

After calming down, reevaluating the situation and going over my possible issues I'm hoping the next 3 I put into flower don't react like this.. I'm a firm believer of "it was probably my fault" And will do everything I can to make this statement ring true.

Temps are good with a high of 82 and a low of 74. Temps outside today are 103 and the grow is holding strong. I did replace my bulb recently and they may have been to close. I don't have any light leaks and the room the tents are in stay dark all day. Unless,... somebody left my bathroom door open then sunshine hits my tent... a definite possibility.

The next 3 go In next week and they will get babied , stay a nice distance from the light and I will make sure the fam knows " No lights In my room". If I can get this next batch to flower clean then it was probably my fault.. Funny thing is I didn't notice them umtil the males were removed, maybe they sensed this and didn't like it..lol..

SHN sent me the seeds but I can't blame them for being the middle man. I'll continue doing what I'm doing and adjust to the situations that arise. If can prove that I was the problem I would feel much better.. Even if I can't keep a female the male is still polinanting my BDay and Urkle, they are both rock solid and have never had any problem. I've had good luck with unstable genetics pollinating stable cuts and making stable babies..

Yep, sure did... lol... Triangle mints coming soon..:thumb: SeedJunkieGenetics is dropping a batch of seeds this week...:high-five: And Relentless, TigerTress next month and Some more Sybiotics in July or August... I got it bad...

Yeah :bigblush: I was twisting Chris and Jodi's arm about that one and one only pack of Scrumdiddlyumtious.

I saw a lot of similar characteristics in my pack of the TS. I am thinking its just a really unstable/sensitive new strain. As with many new strains these days due to the fluctuation of breeders the last few years. Not to say that strains arent as good or have the potential to be great but it creates more work for a grower when dealing with extremely sensitive genetics.

TS1 Day 39.....and let the flush begin.

She looks very nice Floyd.. Those LED lights sure do keep the node spacing tight. Fantastic job on the TrapStar. Mine had a little more stretch in Flower but nothing crazy. Very manageable. I have 2 shorter phenos hitting flower next week that look a little different then the other ladies. They wlll probably end up being a little small but Im cramming 12 to 13 plants in my 4x4 and I'm kinda out of space.

I spent a good hour yesterday examining the 3 TrapStars and I got them nice and clean. I started of by removing any branch I though was unproductive. This should make life a little easier later and limit the space I have to search. I grabbed a flash light and some scissors and razors and got to work. The bottom of the plant was very clean and the clusters seem to have formed about haltf way up and stopped at the 4th node from the top. All of them were located at the node where the single calyex is usually located at the start of every branch on the main stem. I found maybe 5 or 6 per plant and I found 2 that seemed to be opening. None of the main flowering spots were effected, only the node spaces were they usually show sex. The 2 open ones I found were very green and probably sterile. They did not have a yellowish tint at all and were very wet and green. I've seen much worse from a hermie so I'm very confident i can keep a clean tent while i run these.. Hope I see a little variation in the pheno types.

What's up everyone.. The ladies in flowering are still getting going but the males are done and chopped so o figured we could check those out why we wait for the show to start.

Ts 2 and 3.. The males..

I let these flower for 15days and they were dropping pollen everywhere so I decide to harvest them and choose a keeper for my f2 project.
I choose #3 ( The one on the right ) for a few different reasons. He was overall a sturdier plant and seemed to hold up his branches a little easier. He was also the stinker and had a strong musky and skunky smell. #3 seemed to have less side branching but was stacking male flowers a bit tighter than 2. 2 seemed to be producing airy male flowers and was a bit taller so he was removed and pollen was collected from #3.

Wow, what a freaking mess.. I tried to be all perfect and wear gloves and tried my best to stop pollen from falling but barely touching these guys spilled pollen every where. I chopped the tops and tapped them over a plate to collect some pollen. It worked well and wasn't really the problem.. Removing flowering males made a huge mess.. pollen and male flowers were falling everywhere. After I chopped them down I sprayed everything with water and stripped butt ass naked in the garage. I then hosed my clothes and shoes down and hopped in the shower. The males were on the other side of the house so in confident I didn't pollinate my whole grow.

Here's what i got.. probably about a gram of pollen. This was put into 3 different vials filled with Rice to absorb moisture and will sit in the fridge for a couple days and then hit the freezer. I still have the clone from my male but I'm hopping this pollen stays viable until I can get my BDay cake ready for pollenation..
