Equanimity's First Grow - Lemon Kush - Canna Coco - CFL

Hmm check for bugs with a magnifying glass. The way you described it as shiny residue seems to me the way you are describing it to be aphids. They secrete a residue and whatever the ants that herd them dont eat then mold will but I cant be at all certain since im going off of your description and from what I see. Blotches everywhere and they are shiny or reflective. Does it feel kinda hmm sticky or saplike? Or are those blotches in the leaves and not on the surface?

Started off as slightly tacky shiny sort of thing and then turned into this dark stuff, looks sort of 'embedded' in the leaves but can't be seen on the underside (underside looks normal). i have checked for mites or bugs and have been every few hours since i planted the seeds, not seen any other signs of them

actually; just looked again and it does show on the undersides of the leaves contrary to what i had thought.

checked again for bugs, absolutely no sign.

the only things i can think of are:

some sort of shock reaction to being topped so aggressively

or

the wire i've used to hold them down; it's copper electrical wire underneath that plastic coating.

The new growth tips, however, seem to be flourishing.

Well hmm if thats the case I wouldnt worry. I get leaves like that sometimes. I just dont use them after harvest.

Im not really seeing it in the pics, but i have noticed if a leaf lays on top of another leaf the water that evaporates out of the lower leaf will get trapped on the surface. It is usually clear but a little sticky and will smell like cannabis. I didnt go back and read much so this is just a suggestion and something i have expirienced.

As for the spots on ur leaves, its most likely a defficiency. Just because you topped your plants doesnt mean they will need less ferts. The plants will be using the nutes for all sorts of things even though they seem like they slow down after topping.

currently 1ML canna coco A and 1ml canna coco B into 2 litres of water. It's what i was using up until before i topped (i topped on saturday night and thats also when they were last fed). The water was left to stand and then ph'd to just under 6 after nutes added.

My two cents is phosphorus deficiency. Just read that
In soil, phosphorus is best absorbed by the roots in the 6.2 - 7.0 pH range (in soil, it's generally recommended to keep the pH between 6.0 - 7.0, but phosphorus specifically tends to be best absorbed above 6.2 and below 7.0) The pics I saw COULD look like your poor little leaf, but like you said, after a while all the pics look the same.

You'll lick this problem, man!:cheertwo:

I'm going to leave them to their work for the mean time; they won't be due a feed for a few days and i don't want to overfeed and leave myself with more issues.

The new growth tips are coming in well, very lush looking, and once they're big enough these leaves here will eventually be getting topped off; at the moment they're little more than a temporary solar panel.

i'll double up on nutes in the next feed and try and get hold of some cal-mag.

Ok, so this evening i gave them a feed with 2mg Canna Coco A&B per litre of water and flushed through til run off, checked the girls over and the worst of these leaves appear to be curling up and in on themselves from the sides (to resemble tubes) and i envisage that they'll die and drop off at some point over the next few days.

The new growth tips in the middle near the stems have all doubled in size over the course of a few hours and i'm hoping that once these leaves drop i'll have two pairs of nice green fan leaves on each plant. It is purely coincidental that the leaves that have gone wrong were eventually getting topped anyway... what if the plant knew my intentions? scary.

I hope the increase in nutes will fix what's broken; i'll know in a few days or so.

You all have been fantastic; thank you so much.

Day 38

So, after some slight issues with the brown spotting, my girls appear to have bounced back for the most part.

Kaylee Frye

Since the incident, all of the plants' new growth has been both rapid and reasonable with the exception of this one; the leaves appear to curl downwards and are a deep colour. This behaviour began immediately as soon as i'd dealt with the brown spotting problem. Growth appears to be at normal rate for this particular plant - she has always been slow.

Christine Kochanski

Christine is still the best performer of the group and has come back from the incident remarkably well compared to the others; new growth looks great from what i can see. If i lose all but one of my plants i can only pray that this is the one.

Aeryn Sun

Aeryn's growth rate is comparable to Kaylee and Six, however she looks a lot healthier than Kaylee and has a much thicker and stronger stem than Six. She was difficult to tie down.

Caprica Six

Moving gently into fourth place; if Kaylee's leaves didn't look so fucked then Six would take the crown for 'runt of the litter'. I'm not expecting great things from this one but she was easy to bend so that's something.
It might not be visible from this angle but this girl has what i call 'Nemo Leaf'; when i originally topped them i took a tiny bit off one of the growth tips that became those leaves and thus, one part of one leaf is stunted (like nemo's left fin)

I have surmised that all of the new growth is big enough for me to remove the unsightly spotted leaves and i have done so.

The girls' last feed was given the evening you guys recommended i up the feeds; i've done this and between them they've had 8mls each of Canna A & B into 4 litres of ph'd water (2ml per litre); i shall give them the same again on the next feed (probably Sunday) unless anyone has other ideas.

If you guys see anything that looks odd that i've not noticed... or have any idea why Kaylee looks fucked (and is the only one despite receiving the same treatment as the others), please let me know.

Thanks for looking :)

My bet s kaylee is a male or rather will be once it flowers. It looks stunted exactly like my last one was and its shaped the same and that turned out male.

So was the one I speak of. Feminized seeds have about a 90% chance to be female but they can also be hermaphrodites. I hope they are all female for you but the reality is that is rarely the case going off of just odds. If you factor in low light or high temps and stress then the % changes to your detriment. Hope everything turns out well. I will be here if you run in to trouble and need it. I like your username

If it turns out to be a boy, it shall become part of a salad.

I'm happy to lose some plants, but i'd like at least one to go the distance.

Oh most of them probably will.Your plant growing skills will get better over time. You will see when you compare them.

Once the root system is established start feeding more frequent. I have found that growth will increase if you feed it more often. Much different from soil where you want to let it dry out a little between waterings. coco is like a sponge it holds air and water equally well so once the roots take hold in the pot they can handle more frequent feeds.
