DWC & Soil: Verb's Purple Puncher Autos, Mars Hydro TS 1000

11/3 Journal Update

Seems like we have life over here. Both Puprle Punches ”popped”. The one in starter cube looks like having a bit of struggle.. she popped but cotyledons haven’t formed yet

So let’s call the soil one PP#1
0AC4A8CB-A282-491F-B6DF-CAB074537C0A.jpeg

And the one which goes DWC will be PP#2

11/3 | Day 46 | Week 6
Blackberry Kush automatic

Reduced N amounts all the way down to 90ppm per feed, but looks like theres still slight clawing and foliage has kind of ”turtles look”. If Nitrogren excess/tox proceed going flush again.

Nothing much to mention. She keeps getting fatter.

11/5 Journal Update

Had busy last couple days. Thankfully weekend starts and can lay back for a bit.

Purple Punch #2 still having problems to open cotyledons (probs root problem or damping off idk…the sponges feels so dry all the time so Ive kept them moist, but not wet tho)
So decided to germinate the third one. Took less than 18hrs for her to pop a tail. Didn’t feel sure about those sponges so went with ”good old” RW! Ive had so many troubles by these, but my rooting success has been 100% always with RW, lol. No even single clone has left unrooted using RW… So felt safer like this.

PP#1 looks good tho. There it is on day 3:

And my bondage toys, LST Clips and some moar gear arrived today!
See decided to order a PPM meter since yall Americans just understand and use that scale. *JK - TDS in ppm is much more accurate measurement*

And heres the germination corner :D
Just missing the humidifier right now cuz setting up a timer for it.
The seedling lighting is 85W CFL with 6500K color temp. Thats the ”blueest” and best color temp to give for the young seedlings. 6000-6500K range is optimal for the leaf growth.
- Temp at soil surface: 25.5C
- Air temp: 22-24C
- RH: 50-75%
Can’t run the humidifier 24/7 bcoz +60% starts to get too humid for the flowering plant right next to them. -> Setting a timer 1hOn/3hOff

11/5 BB Kush - Day 48 | Week 6
Love the colors!!
Those deep purple/blackish nugs coated with trichomes gonna look sweet.

Nothing much to mention… Shes still having a Cal & slight Mg def/lockout going but it does not look like it would give two fugs bout it. Fattenin like a lil pig erry’day.
Heh look at this fan leave

Heres couple pics to dump

Have a nice friday folks! :ganjamon:

BTW, that PP#2 rooter looks very wet - could be why she’s yellow and stunted
Yuh the pic was taken just after I misted it.
Mentioned above that those rooter sponges felt so dry all the time so outer layer looks wet but it kinda wont suck it, lol if u get me.
But definitely looks like theres some sort of rooting issue or it is damping off, since cotyledons still haven’t opened.
It might take a time but got a hunch thats too stunted.

….Only if I could get ONE proper flying start for the DWC….:goodluck:

11/6

Heya!
Any1 smarter knows whats up with this? Its 3rd or 4th day since it ”popped” but cotyledons still wont open. Theres roots pushing thru the sponge and quickly peek’d inside the cube. There was everything looking ok. Longer white tap root and couple new limbs.

Could the seedling damp off but roots still grow? For me makes no sense.

It has been stunted looking like that last two days.
Even tho I let the spongo dry out for a bit no difference.

Oh and…Ive had those starter cubes packages opened for a 4-5months. Obv I had sealed it air tight with a bag closure clips. But have the starter cubes able to ”spoil” somehow during that time?
Thought if they could have gathered some bacteria/fungi during that time?

Some just aren’t for this world? :hmmmm:

I have had some that retain the thin inner membrane from inside the seed husk - I guess check for remnants of that - which may be holding it closed?
That's exactly what I was going to suggest.

Take a pipette, dampen the tip of the cots. Take a pair of tweezers and see if there is a clear shell/husk that is wrapped around it holding them closed. I've had that happen, example below.
If there's nothing....I'm thinking it's a mutant. You may have to break out the scalpel and play Dr to open her up.

Risky business, you don't want to damage the cots. But I'm thinking the issue is more the seedling, the rapid rooter looks to be doing its job well.

Was pretty sure theres no shell holding cots, but tried to take couple pics. Soz cam being kinda low quality and dont have a digital scope..

I don’t know whats the deal since roots are out growing from the starter cube, so it looks like theyve everything fine but the seedling itself looks more like a mutant LMAO.
It doesn’t look normal in any way..:nerd-with-glasses:There is no actual cotyledons formed which just would have remained unopened. Instead theres tiny gap on tip which looks like a mouth.
The outer layer (that red/brownish surface) feels stiff, like a shell. But it isn’t.. the actual shell is inside the starter cube. Saw it when I checked inside the cube.

Happy halloween, heres my costume

Well, the latent seed energy will only take her so far - if the cotyledons don’t open, she will expire. You might try prying them apart a bit with a thin tool.

Some just don’t make it. Start more! :headbanger:

Yuh it wont start photosynthesis before cots open..
Tried but thats too damn hard. It is so small and the ”mounth” being so narrow so cant really do nothing.

If this one fails *in my world normal day…* at least germinated the 3rd one. So hopefully the third would sprout some what normally.
Just repeatin myself, but oonly if I would get one flying start on DWC

11/7 Journal update

Blackberry Kush end of the 6th week. Had to deal the whole week with this Ca & Mg def/lockout. Only limiting factor for Ca uptake would be excess Phosphorus. But Ive fed around 40-70ppm P in my mixes.
Since little extra boost of Bio’s/Cannas Cal/Mag didn’t solve the problem tried to rise VPD. Dropped RH to 35% and dimmed the lamp a bit so temps rised 1-2C so got VPD of close to 2. No difference.
So I assume theres something blocking the uptake. Not too worried since buds keeps getting denser and leaves praying on nice angle.
And feels like BB Kush loves Terpinator. The colors and smell is sweet.

Purple Punch Auto - 11/7 - Day 5

Shes doing her seedling this.
Im going try keep this one flat as possible. A lot of LST clips and bending will be done :battingeyelashes:

3rd PP no signs of life yet.. it is 3rd day since germinated it.

11/7 BB Kush couple photos / Day 50

@FelipeBlu what you think is this weirdo already at end of the road?
Decided to help open up what ever was that…
It was kinda like a shell. The surface was hard and as opened it there was nothing. Just a hollowish stem.
7EA9EB90-CD94-4A80-B1D4-70D17C618AA6.png

That was kinda hardcore, but now just expecting it do die off or make some magical survival.

Also took couple mini clones from the mini OG Kush since this seed germination ain’t my thing.. jesus.
If these clones root properly and start re-vegging (monster cropped them) going to buy Wilma4 or make a 4 site RDWC. Wilma would be ready plug-n-play kit.

Ive got roughly 80-100 days before my time comes.

OG Kush clones ~1.5-2inches tall / Rooting started 11/7

Still green in there - I think I would give her a chance to redeem herself.

For the clones, I would trim off flowers and excess leaf so that I could ditch the humidity dome before mold sets in. Is it really very dry there?

Yuh from inside it looks dark green. If it is going to push out cots they prob gonna look mutated af.. Will most likely see the result in next 48hrs.

Trimmed the leaves a bit. Since theyre very small ones, they prob just look bigger.. those RW slabs are from one 4x4cm cube which I cut in four pieces.

Trimmed the flowers off from the nodes but left the top ones. As theyre monster cropped last time when cloning found they started re-vegging a lot faster than ones which were cut almost bald.
Not too worried about the mold because planning to keep the dome on for first 1-3 days then placing them inside the closet wheres humidifier running to maintain 70-80% RH and serve fresh air instead of stagnant.
If/when I see roots pushing thru the tiny slabs thats the time when cutting off top flowers.

Tent RH being between 35-55%. It could work out without the lid, but trying to follow as I did last time since all 8 clones rooted properly.

Probably no more cotyledons for this one. The next growth (if any) to come out will be the first set of true leaves.

Sounds like a good plan.

Gotta love your supportive positive attitude. :)

Wish I could get a one proper hydro grow before my time comes. First it was like a hobby or for money, but now it is more like a life style.
Wouldn’t change a day that Ive spent on this forum and ”e-met” some of you stunning characters.
In a year Ive got some big ass plans, inspired by this forum and can’t wait for it!
Kheh, sunday night blaze was a little emotional.

11/8 Quick update

PP#3 showing signs of life!
84D30B87-FD55-449B-B680-F99C7E46AC14.jpeg

As the roots establish I’ll nuzzle those perlites inside RW for better aeration.

Did some preparation for the seedling and DWC:

- Soaked ~1L of Hydroton over night in 6pH water mixed with GHE Root Booster, Hydro guard, 1ml of Terpinator & 2ml of Kelp/seaweed extract (used the same mix to soak/buffer the RW before planting the seed)
- Filtered and sat 30L of tap water and ended with 95-100ppm (straight from the tap it gives 130-145ppm)
- set the 85W CFL 6" above - Temps 24-26C @ canopy. And no idea how many lumens this bulb can produce but now it is close as possible.
- setting up the DWC soon, so it can oxygenate the water for at least ~48hrs before transplanting.
- Seedling ready for transplant after roots push thru the rockwool.

This time going to transplant the RW slab high enough to avoid soaking it!

And heres the weirdo PP#2. Cut through the sponge so you can see inside. Theres the longest root bout to come thru the bottom but the ”seedling” itself is just idling.. Honestly no idea what is going to happen with this. Roots keep growing but nothing else happens. :hmmmm:
