Dusty's Winter Grow

Your girls look fantastic brother!! I missed a part of your journal... I may have to get with you about taking up the same "studies" as you? LOL :Namaste:

Damn.... senior brain.... I meant to ask if anyone does any kind of trimming on autos or not?? I'm starting some in my next grow and have no idea whether they should be topped, fimmed, LSTed, or something?

Gday gentlemen I hope you are happy and healthy!! This is a very interesting subject close to my heart and I would just add to what you said GD that from my experiences and observations that each auto strain based on its genetic makep is unique when it comes to managing the upward growth. The indica dominant phenos in my strain have not responded well at all to top growth managing - aka removing any of the apex growth - and have responded with outright stalling. The sativa dominant phenos have however responded very well to toping and LST to the point that I am going to SCROG one on my next grow and see what she does. I think the responses and results will have similary characteristics to LA's flux method with the main difference that my strain likes and needs big big pots. When bud fill was at its peak I started micro-topping all of the apex's to force the growth inward.

Sorry to pontificate on your page Dusty - just a subject very dear to me and couldn't keep my hand out of the cookie jar :) Love your grow and journal Dusty. Best to you sir!

:Namaste:

Great info Colorful......by micro topping is that the same thing as LAs bud back building?

Thanks GD! I think so that they are essentially the same thing although I still have so much to learn and relearn from LAs grows. Whenver the top most growing point is removed from the plant, all of the hormones and auxins that the plant making and sending upward to signal continued upward growth have no where to go (as they are coded w/ instruction to go to the extremeties of the plant) and they take the nearest off ramp and go to the next closest endpoint of extremity/branch - the same reason why topping in young vegetative stage results in two new main growing points :)

Cheers and 420 goodness to you all!

:Namaste:

Good info guys.
O.K. Blue mystic flux

Those plants look real vigorous, meaty and healthy Dusty! Looking good and thanks for the nice update. Cheers buddy.

Micro topping is just topping early growth so it only leaves a little scar. Backbuilding is topping your buds in peak flower to encourage the buds to bulk up :)

Hey skunny - my understanding is the actions are the same re: snipping the growing point but the different proeceedures as are associated with different stages of growth and for different/specific structure results. Are we on the same page? Cheers monster!

Yes colorful, we are on the same page. Micro topping is used in the vegetative growth stage to create more heads/tops & backbuilding is used during mid flower to increase the size of the colas :)

Good morning Dusty :) :ciao:

Dusty, do you run veg & flower at the same time? I'm thinking I need to set up separate areas so I can do both at the same time...I have a large grow room and it has a long narrow closet in it I could use... it's about 2' X 6'. :Namaste:

all is well I started a blue cheese yesterday gonna have to move somthing in flower soon, probs the white widow.

Hey beateo we can have six in veg and six in flower. So I try to lol . it can be a biotch keeping a schedule then takes a while to pick strains to keep around.
I am a do devout religious user and could grown as many as I want but six keeps us medicated and spirituly active. also keeping me in ceasers guidelines lol.
Hey dirty I may put this o.g. In idk I'll go willy-nilly when the time comes .
