Dusty's Winter Grow

Is that an indica, Greenthumb J? I'm new to Hydro and need something that can take some misuse. lol I'm working at it, but just getting things tuned in. I want to try DWC and I'm all set up for it, just have to pick out what to try. Mind if I ask where you got your seeds?

The Papaya i'm guessing you're talking about? Yea its an indica. Sturdy little plant. matures pretty fast. I had pistils on my girls within 30 days from germination, whereas most strains i've grown take about 40-50 days..

My Greenhouse Seed Co. White Widow, i beat the hell out of. Defol'd the hell out of her early in veg and stunted her growth for a few weeks at least. Took her out of my growbox and into a 5gal DWC bucket (wont do that small again!) I let the bucket run dry more than a few times, eventually after about 7 months i put her into flower. Let the bucket run dry more than a few times again. In the end i wasnt' very impressed with the product. i took 5 clones 2 weeks before she went into flower and I grew those in a recirculating top feed system (i suggest this method if you want to grow hydro!!) and it was much less problems. No plants almost dying cause they had no water, no leaves drying out and dying cause they had no hydration.

Let me tell you, the quality was 100x better, from the same genetics.

As long as i could trust my timers, and my power didn't go out, i could leave the system for almost a week without having to worry about my water pump running dry and breaking.

If you want to do a DWC, and dont think you will be diligent enough to constantly keep your water levels up, then go with a larger reservoir. letting your buckets run almost dry is just as damaging as letting them go completely empty. The nutrient solution can get so concentrated in a 5gal bucket so quickly that you will find you might be over fertilizing your plants.

I've actually gone back to DWC buckets, but only temporarily as i need some plants to put on some size for when space in the flower tent opens up. I will be doing a huge, and i'm thinking, pretty damn big, RDWC. I actually got a larger water pump for the system, and i'm just waiting on a water chiller to actually start using it. Its already built actually and i'm going to be uploading the video to my new journal later today!

I went to My Seed Co and couldn't find the Papaya seeds/strain. And I went to start an account and USA wasn't an option in the setup/start up menue. Must be me? And i have 3 girls on a recirculation system in rockwool going now. 15 gal rez.

I have another closet all set up with two 5 gal buckets with 8" baskets. Just need a point in the right direction for a nice plant. Like what you where describing.
I'm a sponge, so ramble away about Hydro all you want. I welcome the brain food! Thanks man, Andy.
 
J if you let a dwc plant dry out like that any other media is gonna outpreform it.

Update cloned the afghani, new jock, and o.g.
Have a buddy gonna give him the jock and o.g. For his birthday.

On a cool note when I was taking a cut from afghani #2 I noticed a four fingered leaf so I will put my money on her to be a her.

Hey Ranger......i think its all in the approach my friend......you came introduced yourself and asked for help....DK offered for you to post here as he has a lot of followers and between him and the rest....i know that any problem you have can be resolved.....as far as being rude....its all in how it is presented......we all have been rude to someone in our lives....it happens, but on this forum....with the love and support i see here every single day your in the right place to get help.....ask away my friend....with people like DK here to back you up no doubt you will get sorted out.....as you can see i am a bit long winded:)lol......everybody here is willing to help and by you posting here it will catch a lot more eyes than can help:).....ok....nuff said:):welcome:

Gals look great DK.......whats up with the four fingered leaf and female prediction.....are you just being playfull or is this actually a sign?

I see.....i will have to pay attention now:)....even though all i grow right now is fem, but i do have somme afghani regs that were freebies:)
