Dusted Bud Genetics In High Brix Grown By BrixNewb

Not sure, I have always had some fan funk. We have talked about it a bit before, but never got to the root of it. I am off the floor with sheet insulation under my tent, so I don't suspect it's heat or cold from a foundation coming through. I checked for bugs and it does look like I have springtails, but from what I read they are nothing to worry about, but about a week ago I started giving small doses of Azamax to the plants because that's honestly the only thing I can figure it could possibly be.

Try upping feedings about 20 to 30%

Well today I moved Purple XJ x Cali Dreamin #1 into the bloom tent after putting her into a 5 gallon pot. She had a nice set of roots in the 2 gallon pot. I think she is going to explode here shortly.

Looking great. Love the genetics on that point X Cali dreamin. (Ak47 cherry pheno X L.A. Kush) x GDP Backcross? Hells to the yes.

I was super stoked when Dusted Bud liked a pic on insta and commented. Made me go look up what they are doing. I think the crosses make sense and I liked that they did some work with a GDP Backcross to highlight different traits. I like when breeders do that. Don't just take a cut and breed with that. Work your own expressions to come up with something new. Dynastygenetics has done that with several strains. I like these boutique growers that really try and pull something new out of something already existing. I am definitely going to grab some beans from them, especially after seeing the beautiful structure and buds of that CD X PL you are harvesting.

I am not sure on the exact genetics for Pliny Lights x Cali Dreamin because of the Pliny Lights part. I believe it's his Pliny Purple crossed with Pacific Pine bred with his Cali Dreamin, but that's just a guess. What I do know beyond the shadow of a doubt is that EVERYONE is loving this strain. Everyone who tries it is blown away, even my friend who is an Indica lover.

I have actually been following you on IG, but I try to keep a low profile. Love seeing your posts. Dusted Bud actually used one of my photos on his IG, I was geeked out! I am a complete newb and here I am on Dusted Buds IG among some amazing growers.

I think Dusted Bud has a really good understanding of cannabis breeding and knows what traits will pair well with what strains. I have only tried one strain of theirs so far, but when you hear daily smokers who have been at it for 30+ years tell you that it's the perfect high, you know they are doing something right. When I first started growing I figured that the big names like Barney's, Nirvana, DNA, etc were the way to grow but I have grown out mainly big name brands and have never really been blown away by some of the very popular strains. I am seeing people growing out genetics you have never heard of in these legal states and I really think these small operations with their artisanal strains are where the future of cannabis is.

Sorry for the rambling, I guess I am in a chatty mood tonight.

I totally agree BN. These are what Stage and I call "boutique" strains. These breeders are hungry they have a passion and love for what they do. I see some small companies that just get legit cute like GG#4 and breed it to everything else. It shows no careful thought. It is not really "breeding." Now you take some of these breeders like DB or Prof P and you can see the careful thought and trait selection that sets them apart. They go through generations selecting what they like and making their own. I can't wait to cross the Huckleberry Kush Pineberry pheno with the Bluniverse bazooka Joe blueberry pheno. But even then that's not serious breeding. I am riding on luck whereas real breeders select from tens to hundreds to thousands of plants to search out desired traits. I think one of the things I really envy is their ability to grow out tons of males and see their effects by allowing them to pollinate females, then grow out their progeny. I will do that in a limited way but not on the scale they can accomplish.

The bigger banks haven't impressed me as much (except for Tutankhamon!!) you also see the big banks establish a few strains and then just maintain them, mass producing what was great a few years ago. I was unimpressed with THC bomb. It was lacking terps. Seems like a lot of big banks are riding on the success of yesteryear. I want to support small banks who still have the "eye of the tiger."

The pinnacle of breeding isn't Europe anymore. It's here in the PNW, California, and Colorado. Americans are doing what we always have done best. Innovation.

Now I am gonna go through IG and figure out whom you are!

Amen! Dusted Bud is actually a second generation cannabis grower with 18 years experience. I have always been impressed by them. I think these boutique breeders are poised to do quite well here in the US. A lot of politics go into winning a Cannabis Cup and the large banks are using that as a marketing tactic. I have grown Cannabis Cup winners and I wasn't impressed with their genetics and my group of friends found the buzz mediocre. Yet Dusted Bud who you have never heard of absolutely knocked their socks off. Said it's the best bud I have grown to date. The grow was just like every other one, this was all breeding and genetics that were shining through. I am going to send you a PM, I want you in on DB.

I also have an update today. Nothing much to look at. Purple XJ x Cali Dreamin #1 is in the bloom tent, not a whole lot going on and the girl is smushed on both sides.

Tonight I am dropping a Lemon OG x Cali Dreamin bean in the soil and letting her rip. I am going to plant 1 bean a week for the next 4 weeks since I had a 75% female turnout with the Purple XJ x Cali Dreamin beans.

Here are the Purple XJ x Cali Dreamin girls:

Purple XJ x Cali Dreamin #1 is in the bloom tent looking nice, buds should start popping up soon.

Purple XJ x Cali Dreamin #2 is ready to move on to a bigger pot, but I am keeping her in the two gallon hoping to limit growth a bit since there is no room in the bloom tent right now.

Hey man! Some look great, some look like they could use a bit of help. Nothing that isn't correctable!

For the ones that have the yellow and droopy think going on, prune em' up from the bottom and leave the top 3 or 4 nodes intact. Let 'em get good and dry, then do a rescue drench.

The roots need help before bloom. You should be just fine after that. Do it pronto, as soon as they dry out. Prune 'em in 10 minutes.

Thanks Doc! I was going to water her today, checked the roots and I think she is a bit big for her one gallon pot. I upcanned to a 2 gallon and gave her Rescue Drench instead of water. The other larger one (#2) will be getting a Rescue Drench soon I think, I believe she is also ready for a larger pot, but I want to try to hold her off. You said I was feeding light in veg, you were right on, Green Crack was yellowing, gave her more food, and she is back to green and healthy. I still have some learning to do, I am making small steps.

Small steps....lol. You'll be producing elite produce in a cycle or two. MANY experienced growers of many years haven't yet produced what a many kit users are getting on their second and third try. No bull, it really is that good.

Look for strains that do well. If they're also the latest craze all the better, but more often than not you'll get something that stands out from the crowd with more pure genetics. The strains that adapted to growing outside, in a certain region for thousands of years, or hundreds of years, as the case may be, have root systems that are well suited to living soil, like an old, established vinyard or olive grove.

These types of plants excell in our hypeactive soil.

On the other hand, many modern strains respond well to high salt/hydro style growing due their relatively inefficient root systems. With a high PPM salt/hot organic fert type of grow, these strains come alive and many are amazing. They don't always come out the same in High Brix.

But you'll find the strains that really groove with the soil produce something that stands apart and is unique.

Most importantly, the dedicated personal intentions of your growing plays an important role. If you're truly seeking the best produce and the healthiest plants possible, you'll get there. There's some sort of life connection at work here.

The whole reason I started growing was to have a source of cannabis that was top quality and readily available. Using the kit was the first cannabis that I had ever grown. The bud that I produced on my very first run was noticeably better than the best cannabis I was able to find locally after years of searching. So I know it can produce great quality bud, everyone I know has raved about it since the first harvest. I believe in the kit 110%, I don't think for me there is a better nutrient option out there.

Since I have harvested a few strains I have kind of gotten a baseline. It was all about the same level, people loved it, no complaints ever. But then the Pliny Lights x Cali Dreamin harvest came and this was like another level that the cannabis had gone to. Nothing in the processed changed dramatically, only the genetics. I am very excited to see how the Dusted Bud strains turn out, I have two more strains growing right now and plan on buying more beans when I can. I also have other strains, some big name hydros and some that are closer to landrace, and I plan on growing a little bit of everything until I find those strains that really rock the kit.

My mission has always been to grow the highest quality cannabis easily and not worry too much about harvest. The kit does that for me despite my inexperience. I have always had a connection with this plant despite being a VERY casual user. It took me until I was in my 30's to actually jump in and do it myself. It could be bad news in the future for me, but at this time I am just enjoying the view.

I can't give you anymore rep right now, but I want to let you and the whole High Brix family know that I am forever grateful to each and every one of you guys.

Today I moved Purple XJ x Cali Dreamin #2 into the bloom tent. I also planted a Lemon OG x Cali Dreamin bean, the second one actually. The first was planted one week ago. So excited for these Dusted Bud strains, everyone is loving the Pliny Lights x Cali Dreamin.

Alright guys, life has kept me busy, but I managed to snap some pictures of the girls today.

Lemon OG x Cali Dreamin #2 is just a baby.

Purple XJ x Cali Dreamin #1 is really doing work. Nice frost already and the buds just started to come on, leaves raised to the sky, she seems to be a really happy girl right now.

Man, life has been pretty hectic for me lately, so I haven't updated this thing. But the girls are doing good. I will be back tonight with a picture update. Dusted Bud just released 8 strains the other day, so I picked up a few things. Here is the rundown of what's in my bag of tricks:

SCARLET COOKIES:

(California Cherries S1 x Forum Girl Scout Cookies) Feminized Seeds. 8-9 weeks typical flowering. Flavorful peppery Cookie terps with the hints of sage and cherry combined for a heavy body and mind high.

SUPER SOUR LIME OG:

(Limelight x Sour Cruz OG) Regular Seeds. 8-9 weeks typical flowering. Pungent sour lime terps that blend with a very pine dominant OG flavor. The effects produce a very narcotic heavy physical high, while the headchange can be a bit euphoric.

S.LIME COOKIES

(Limelight x Milk 'n' Cookies) Regular Seeds. 9+ weeks typical flowering. Potent sour lime terps that are excessively gassy. The pungent flavors are just a forewarning of whats inside. The effects hit hard and fast and are not recommended for the faint hearted.

LUCY CRUZ

(Lucy x Sour Cruz OG) Regular Seeds. 9+ weeks typical flowering. A indica dominate flower that yields heavy elongated Kush spears. Excessive foliage requires some extra attention in veg. The finished flower releases a gassy deep pine flavor that leaves the mouth watering for more at exhale. The effects are heavy and sedative.

Beyond that I also got another strain that isn't released just yet called Fluffhead x Milk 'n' Cookies which I will be planting very shortly. Very excited to get more Dusted Bud harvested. So far I have grown two strains that are head and shoulders above the rest, Blueberry Headband from HSO and Pliny Lights x Cali Dreamin from Dusted Bud, so I am looking forward to this Purple XJ x Cali Dreamin coming down shortly.

Purple XJ x Cali Dreamin #1 is doing alright, rusty leaves, but she is still moving towards that finish line. Shouldn't be but another month at the most.

Purple XJ x Cali Dreamin #2 really had a growth spurt. She is about 8 inches taller than everyone else in the tent and hopefully she is done growing upwards. Lots of nice bud sites, she will be ready for Cat Drench soon.

Sweet the lemon venom is going to be a really nice plant. I am pretty eager to see her post Cat! What promix do you use BN? It looks different than my HP.

It's Promix HP with amendment and Wiggle Worm EWC. Any picture in particular that looks different? Maybe I got something going on.

This is Dusted Bud Genetics Purple XJ x Cali Dreamin #2 about 48 hours after first Cat Drench. She may have been a little late to the Cat party.

Then there is Purple XJ x Cali Dreamin #1. I think she is rounding the bend and heading into the home stretch! Excited for this strain because all the reviews for Pliny Lights x Cali Dreamin were top of the crop.
