Dusted’s Traditional Hydroponic Grows

Damn. I thought if I spent some money on seeds I could resist what I thought was a one day sale on @Budget LED lights. I reread the advert and it is 12% off till the end of the month for us. @oldsmokey got a new rosin press, so I feel entitled.

I have the series 3+ red spec 500 w 3500k as a main now instead of HID and love the results. The LED isn’t as bad as the HID but it still doesn’t cover the backs of the plants. Ideally I would add 4 more series 2+ full spectrum 250 w (3000k?) around the edges but I think I can get away with two more for side coverage. They would only be needed for flowering.

Well, I have two more weeks to resist. I can do it. Really.

Sounds like the choose had already been made!
Now I'm wondering what I can get because of smokey's new press! :hmmmm:
If you were closer I would let you try it out.
If he gets presents, we get presents
That only works for my wife.

Ok, now all I have to do is push the button to order two Series 3 red spec 250 W 3000 k xl heat sink fixtures. The units are longer than with the standard heat sink, which will offset the new panels to the corners. That should better cover my 6 ft x 6 ft area. Is is a lot of money even with 12% off though. Damn expensive hobby this is.

I’m right there with you, dusted! I’m eyeing up a new flower room light from budget. It is so so tempting right now.
Too bad they didn’t have the full spectrum 500 W Spec 3 when I bought my main. Oh well the plants only really need vegetative lighting for 3-4 weeks. The new ones I want are 3000 k vs 3500 k for my main board so that should help in flowering.

If you do it I will, but I don’t have a wife to account to.

Mrs Dab has given the blessing for it, I’m just trying to talk myself into it now. Part of me says keep the hps in there for the winter, and upgrade in the spring, then the other part of me says buy it, Nancy!

Maybe we should just do it...

Dusted, have you noticed any major differences in overall plant growth/Heath between the HID and led lights?

I was surprised by how much light they put out. It’s not difficult to burn the tops if the lights are too close or the intensity is too much:lot-o-toke:

There is a definite difference between the led and hid in terms of growth. The better spectrum of light plus the intensity. The closest cola to the light is about 18” away and hasn’t burned so far. Better not, as the light is at the ceiling.

Day 41 post flip

The addition of the CalMag produced an almost immediate effect. Within a few hours the odour had increased significantly and the plants were praying harder. The Cream Caramel is responsible for most of the odour in the room. The other plants have virtually nothing. They were ahead of the Cream Caramel in the flower development when CalMag was added. I hope the terpene production hasn't been affected too much. Still about a month to go.

I've developed a bad fungus fly infestation even though I have had mosquito dunks in the reservoir and the weekly addition of the BTK spores in one of the myco additives. I added dunks under each drip nozzle in the buckets to try and get a handle on them. I received the Dynomyco pouch but haven't opened it yet. I figure I will start it the next grow by introducing it to the freshly germinated seeds. I may even put some into the paper towels during germination to infect the plants ASAP.

Still trying to justify $1k for the new lights. I haven't purchased any expensive straight razors or Japanese knives recently and it's my 65th birthday in two weeks. The Gov Old Age payments will then start as well, so that will be extra income. It's not as though I can't afford it, but I'm basically a cheap old bastard. I do spend several hours a day in my grow room so would be enjoying the money spent, daily.

I'm sure there's plenty of time left to bump the terps in there once you get the mix dialed in for them. In terms of the mosquito dunks, I think they work best when they've been sitting and breeding in the water for a while. In soil that means keeping a five gallon bucket with dunks in them, and using that for the nute water. The longer they sit the more the bacteria multiply.

Congrats on the upcoming birthday and the increase in funds!

I am rocking the new demon in my 4 x 4 and loving it. Last run I flowered under the Full Spec and had great results. I'll post pics under our bud page.
