Dusted’s Traditional Hydroponic Grows

I trust Nova's lab results. Just because the oil is at decarb temp doesn't necessarily mean that the extra carbon molecule can break free from the THCa. I don't think they mean insulation as strictly referring to preventing it from getting hot.

Now I need to do some more reading. My background is chemistry.

i didn’t want to screw up my first real attempt at coco butter so I did oven decarboxylation in a foil pouch.
I thought I had put an oz in the oven but when I weighed it before infusion it was only 15 g so the other half is cooking now. 30 g in 500 mL of coco oil should do the trick.

I grind the bud with a coffee grinder. More oil just means you might need to eat two brownies instead of one.
I calculated the max amount in this batch and it is about 15 mg/mL CBD. No idea what a good dose is but it should be 2-3 mL. No buzz out of this stuff.

It was pH pen calibration day again. Once a month now instead of yearly. It was out again. pH 4 buffer read 3.7 and pH 7 read 7.1. My previous pH pen was from the lab I worked at (got it free). It never left calibration, but died after many years of use. The new one from the hydro shop drifts like crazy. Oh well $300 vs $50 does make a difference.

I'd rather keep the $250 and calibrate monthly!
I do miss access to free equipment and chemicals from work now that I’m retired. I visit occasionally with a wish list but don’t get out there much anymore.

Since switching to the instapot I can't tell the difference and it's hands off set it up and walk away.
Do you give it a stir before giving it heat a second time? I imagine it would help with decarbing in a mason jar?

Always looking to improve my plants I queried REMO about their Natures Bounty carbohydrate/amino acid blend for the root microbiome in RDWC. They recommend quite a bit be added to hydroponic systems in theIr literature. Same for the VeloKelp. I have always been nervous about adding that much biodegradable stuff to my system since it can cause microbial blooms and deplete the water of oxygen. I only add 2.5 mL of 40% citric acid solution and VeloKelp daily, which I have started again.

I explained I add microbial spores weekly. They replied that they would not recommend using the Natures Bounty in my system because of microbial blooms. Suspicion confirmed. They say only use in sterile systems, but then what is it feeding? I guess it is only a soil additive.

VeloKelp, they said I could get away with recommended use levels if I also use an enzyme cleaner. to remove accumulated humid acid deposits on the roots (dark brown stain). Not going to happen after Oldsmokey’s experience.

I do appreciate their prompt response and honesty. I also do like their products. Carry on.

No stir once the first cycle is done I set the timer to run again in 12 hours and walk away again sometime I don't come back to it for a week or two. I have it set up in the basement. I don't strain the jars untill I am ready to use them they might sit for a few months or longer on the shelf before I use them.
I will be trying this.

Day 28 post flip

Plants are generally doing well. I have raised the light as high as it will go. Strawberry Banana #2 is slowly disappearing under the SB#1 and Cream Caramel. I will let them encroach on her territory since she isn't thriving. The White Widow is trying to stretch but isn't that great. The Cream Caramel is taking off. Lots of stretch and flower development.

Other than a few rusty leaves here and there I don't see anything keeping you from a great harvest!
Should be ok. I usually get about a lb per harvest and end up not using half of it. This harvest won’t be as good as usual, but with some different tastes than previous grows, so that’s good.

I broke down and ordered some CalMag supplement. The large healthy Strawberry Banana started showing a few rust spots, right on schedule. I have been diligent in keeping the pH on the high side of recommended to ensure calcium uptake but here we go again. For 20 years I made my own N solution out of calcium nitrate pellets and don’t remember ever seeing this problem, so I ordered the REMO version of cal/mag. Getting late in this grow to try and fix it, since it is an immobile element, but it will be available to me.
