DrZiggy's Low And Slow Drying: Maximizing Your Harvest

For the first week that mine are in the fridge I shake them gently every day. After that first week I fall back to every three days. They're much stickier and more inclined to stick to each other in that first week.

Going into week two my mindset becomes one of protecting the trichomes. They're more brittle by this point, so more gentleness is called for, IMHO.

Here's mini fridge pic. 4 jars in crisper and 3 in the door. White rice to keep humidity down

Got a bowl in there now ...

Let me try this one Furcifer. If I mess it up you can correct me. :battingeyelashes:

Give it three weeks in the fridge, gently tumbling and shaking every three days. At the end of each week take them out and screen them for an hour in a room at around 62% humidity. Close the jars and check with a hygrometer. If higher than 68% set them back in the fridge and continue.

After three weeks begin to take them out for an hour's screening every day, with the environment at 62% humidity. Check the humidity of the buds as before. If higher than 68% place back in the fridge, but this time in paper bags.

Do this until the buds are at 68% humidity. Now, jar them up and burp as you would any other harvest you've taken this far without smoking it until your buds register an internal humidity level of 62%.

How was that Furcifer?
Yes, this is the basic steps that I use.
3 weeks is about the longest strait stretch in the fridge.
Keeping the buds at a high RH for extended periods can lead to disaster.

Options are after 2 weeks.
Leave them out longer every other day. Reducing internal RH into the 70's percentile. Than putting back into the fridge for another week of retarded osmosis.

Variables are encouraged.
Based on your resources available.
Modify the outline Sweet Sue has laid out.

Final outcome is a reward worth trying this method.

Have fun as I do with it.

Update opened the fridge to check buds and temps humidity was reading 47% and temp was 48 I think sorry was temps says 45

Also p.s. I noticed the smell has changed faded a bit ? But when I ask wife to smell she says it smells skunky. When should I take them out and how often should I be letting them
Come to room temps once a day and how when I will know when I can remove from fridge and finish trimming and jar and burp for two weeks? With boveda 62% packs up to an ounce per package I am using .

Any help again would be very appreciated .
Sweet Sue beat me to ya.lol

Any ? After you read her post.
Please ask

Update day three I believe in fridge here are temps thoughts

Temps are good.
Humidity will fluctuate faster than temps. Based on opening the door.
If you find your humidity is a little high ( above 50%) more than below.
Switch to paper bags, add rice to the crisper, a box of shredded newspaper all works.
Bags and newspaper must be changed out daily, or when they feel damp.

Day 1 in bags.

Harvest aired for an hour and then the smaller buds were jarred up with a hygrometer. Bud humidity down to 70% in the smaller buds. I'll check the larger buds tomorrow.

Day 2 in bags

Ok guys I'm nervous as hell because this is my first grow as most of you know but my girl is now in her 48 hour dark period before harvest and I'm scared I'm gonna flub this dry up lol. I've read almost every post in this thread about using the fridge to dry but I'm terrified I'm gonna mess it up lol someone please reassure me the steps and that I'm not gonna ruin my hard work lol I'm pitiful I know lol

You got this! Cut the girl down, wash her, dry her from the wash, put it in paper bags in the fridge till she's dry, then put her in jars and "burb" the jars till you smoke it all.

Harvest and trim fan and large leaves from plants.
Wash buds.
Hang to drip dry. (Small fan circulating air. Can blow across buds as long as buds do not move.)
Around 4 hours.

Do not remove sugar leaves!
They are the buffer to protect the flowers.

Remove buds from stalks and put in canning jars, paperbags or, place on screens. (Lot of options)

Fill jars loosely 1/2 to 2/3 full.

Cover open end of jar with nylon screen and screw on cap ring.
(This keeps the buds from falling out during rolling or gentle shaking of jars).

Place in the crisper of a frost free refrigerator.

Week 1. Everyday roll or gently shake jar.
After 7 to 10 days.
Take a jar out Remove buds.
Let the buds and jars come up to room temp 1 to 2 hours.
Room temp 68F to 76F deg F.
RH below 60%.

Place buds and a humidity sensor in jar and seal.
Place in dark. Wait one hour.
If not between 64% and 72% RH. Replace screen and return to crisper.

Week 2 Repeat process.

Week 3 Repeat process every day, 2 days, or 3 days. Your preference.

STILL CHECK and roll/gentle shake every couple of days.

Once RH% is between 64% and 72%.

Remove jars from refrigerator.

CONTINUE with traditional curing method .
Burp jars daily. BURPING: Gently shake or roll jar before opening.
Room parameters 72F to 76F deg temp. 62% RH.
Open all jars for an hour and seal.
Cobtinue daily untill sensor reads 62%.

Awesome detailed explanation! I think I've got the washing down, I've got 3 buckets and my lemon juice and baking soda and peroxide. My first 2 dips will be warm and last cold (I believe is what I've read it should be) but I'll def be re-reading the exact process right before I do it lol. Like I said it my first grow so I'm crazy worried about screwing it up lol

Awesome! I will def be revisiting the link to give me reassurance lol

I like it h202 seems to make sense to use for me. I heard I can put it in a spray bottle and spray buds in flower any one have any thoughts on this? Trying to kill mold right now with humidity and all this rain lately it's killin my crops .

. I've been terrified of mold since I started and luckily haven't been hit by it but hopefully someone can chime in on this for you. Fingers crossed you get it knocked out

It's. It fun it spreads like a wild fire.

Ruins such art.

It's outdoor due to rain and humidity in southern Ontario they call us. Lol .

Think o might stick with growing only indoor and in fall . No more outdoor. Or only veg outdoor . ..
