DrZiggy's Low And Slow Drying: Maximizing Your Harvest

IMG_87644.JPG

Every morning before breakfast, I give each jar a gentle shake and tumble to keep everything loose. The buds have been in here for 4 days now. This morning I noticed an absence of any drops of moisture inside the jars. It's just a fine mist of condensation. Progress. :slide:

Let me say it again TS, I sure am pleased that you choose to hang around this thread. :hugs:

Because no one else can take a thread (pick a thread, any thread, any thread at all) from right on track to completely off the rails in 2.5 seconds, lol?

Be sure to get the beef gelatin ones. The vegan ones will leak the oil.

The vegetarian grabs the ball. He dribbles down the court. He shoots - ohwaitaminute, he trips! The omnivore grabs the ball. HE shoots. He scores!!!

Like usual ;) .

Any of them will seep oil, because liquid is very opportunistic

Probably not a problem when making them for one's own personal use. But when one serves as a caregiver... Would mixing in some kind of thickening agent help prevent seepage?

I used to like eating those wax candy things when I was a kid. The kind that were just wax containers full of watery syrup and food coloring. I think maybe I was supposed to just bite the tip off and drain the juice, but I chewed the wax like gum. I usually spat it out afterwards, but I occasionally swallowed it. Therefore, I can say without a doubt that the stuff won't kill you (at least any time soon). Unfortunately, I can also say without a doubt that the wax came out pretty much in the same state that it went in. So don't try making capsules out of that "foodlike" wax. But I wonder if there is some kind of product that's stable at normal temperatures, but the body can quickly and easily break down?

Did a new checkup on the cave. It's been dry now for a few weeks, no rain at all. Now the temperature is stabile around 18 degrees. That's in the hottest part of the nordic summer. So that's all good. Then we have humidity. Lowest is 59% and highest is 68%

68% is a little much - isn't it?

FUCK!

I'm vegetarian

LOL

I buy them from the rainforest site too DeVille. I choose size 00 because they're close to a ml each, so it's easier for dosing purposes. Be sure to get the beef gelatin ones. The vegan ones will leak the oil. Any of them will seep oil, because liquid is very opportunistic, but you don't want the capsules to dissolve. You want ones that'll hold oil.

That was why I said gentle - think zephyr, not gale ;) . Only enough to gently move the humidified air away and aid slightly in the evaporation. And, remember, it would have to pass through two layers (one on each end, because the air that moved in would have to exit to allow for more air to move in) if the person used a tube - which would make it a very small air movement.

Good luck on nomination of member of the month tortured soul .

SweetSue you either have the constitution of an ox when it comes to oil consumption and I'm a real lightweight (mainly true) or our oils are different. Do you dilute yours? I bought the size 0 and even the diluted ones (the ones in the picture you saw on my thread) at this size floor me if they get anywhere near full. I just bought the size 1 and even they look like they will be too big for the next batch. The undiluted ones are in a case of their own for those special occasions but it's those diluted with coconut oil that I'm working out the dose on (currently on hour 3 or 4 and rising along with a few rolls) and if I filled these I would be wiped out

They do hold the oil well but the undiluted oil is more the thickness of a paste anyway. I get the feeling I may have done something wrong :lot-o-toke:

We once speculated that I could likely out-consume both Graytail and the Chimp, so I may have a sturdier-than-average constitution. :laughtwo:

Some oils come out thicker than others. I'm too inexperienced yet to understand why, and you process with ISO while I process with ethanol. My most potent oils are infused, at a rate of 500 ml of carrier oil and 400 grams of wet, freshly-harvested buds. So yeah..... I do have a healthy tolerance.

Huhwhat?

I thought I saw you at the last meeting of the Big Heads from Way Back club ;) .

If you're meaning some batches of oil are thicker, I'd be guessing temperature inconsistency (higher temperature involved in preparing the thicker one), less carrier present in the thicker batch, or more solvent left in the thinner batch. Variations in the same batch... IDK, maybe some sort of mixing issue, where it was not 100% uniform across the entire batch?

I'm vegetarian

I have nothing against vegetarians (in fact, with the decrease of wildlife caused by a mixture of pollution, human encroachment on their territories (and destruction of same), poor management, et cetera... I kind of encourage the practice in others ;) ).

If I ever read a serious study on the subject that doesn't show that mothers who consumed a healthy, well-rounded diet that included meat during pregnancy and the period during which they nursed their kids ended up with smarter children than those of mothers who either didn't have access to meat or chose not to consume it, I'll reconsider my own diet choices.

And if I ever start seeing a significant percentage of the human population being born and maturing without growing a set of omnivore's teeth, I'll reconsider my own diet choices.

HOWEVER... If I never manage to bite into a steak (which, admittedly, is a pretty rare treat these days) from a local cow that was fed a healthy diet, butchered/etc. correctly, and prepared the way I like it and feel repulsed by the experience... then please consider the prior two statements to be purely hypothetical, lol.

But, still, I have nothing against vegetarians. I consider it a choice, and respect it. I even prepared a salad for a woman once.

There was a temperature inconsistency as I kept it at 110F for about two hours then got bored a bit so upped the temps and let them go 145F. The way I see it they're not combustible until a fair bit higher than that so I'm not sure why so low a temperature is recommended

i started filling gel caps with decarbed herb, ground finely. These work great!
Also filled some gel caps from a cannagummy bear gelatin recipe...need to see how long they survive in the open..:)

Ziggy, how much ground cannabis do you think you get into one capsule?

Well, all thermometers and oven knobs are NOT created equal, lol. I've heard a 20% variance is not terribly uncommon. Maybe that was considered when the instructions were created? Also, remember that there is more in(/on) cannabis than just the few cannabinoids that get regularly discussed. Maybe... IDK, maybe there was a concern that something useful might vaporize and be lost? A cannabinoid, a terpine, or something else.

I wandered over to the Member of the Month thread and saw that I had been nominated. I usually look to see who got nominated, but I had forgotten this time. IDK if it was you who nominated me (I think it's supposed to be a secret? So better not tell if so, I guess), but if it was you or someone else reading this thread, thank you.

kinda packed in..I'll weigh 6 emptys. I'll go fill 6 and weigh them...get the avr weight per capsule :)

Im now thinking .. i did weigh them previously. as mentioned but ended up taking 2 of them caps and placed the notes somewhere...

..

Excuse me dr ziggy?

Can I ask you if you have tried this method yet of the low and slow method?

Was going for a more personal greeting high joe thanks I found it worked well. Help me skip to just the good review part. Meh all good ...
