DrZiggy's Low And Slow Drying: Maximizing Your Harvest

My kitchen stunk every time someone opened the fridge.
Yes this could actually work for me cause i also have to do some of the cure under the carbon filter and the sealed fridge should help to dissipate the smell. We are actually thinking of upgrading out 10 year old fridge so i might keep the old one as a canna fridge decked out entirely for that purpose, Hopefully, it can fit 2-3 pounds in there at a time. Might have to pack em in there like sardines
:laugh::yummy::nomo:

There is a noticeable smell for the first two to three days when using the fridge and then it calms down. Keeping the door closed or having a dedicated fridge to dry is best.

In the past I brewed beer and wine and used the fridge for that and to chill booze. I had what professionals call “a fucking problem.” Since discovering cannabis I’ve been alcohol free since 9/2/17 and now repurposed the fridge to be a drying chamber.

I’m going to be nervous about processing some of my upcoming little harvest this way, but you all have me convinced this is the way to a better cure. It’s the washing that ... well, you know.

Putting my plant in 24/48 darkness currently.
going to harvest right after. planning on washing, 4 hour hang, wet trim and then directly hanging from my fridge racks.

the small sample i tried while my other plants were drying in the fridge has convinced me that this is the better way for me to go than the paper bags.

albeit the circumstances were different at the time, i actually was asking about it when i first tried the low and slow. the sample nug i tried it with came out great.
it retained all its color, was spongy, and smelled great.
ill post as i go in the next few days

ive just harvested my final girls on my first grow, washed and hung drip drying before final trim and bag for fridge.
have even more than from the first lot :/ guess the food fridge is being repurposed for a while...

i havent checked weight or performed a jar test yet, i will tomorrow, the acrid citrus smell still permeates when the fridge is opened.
temp is around 43f
starting to feel like the oustide is crisping up, more time needed for sure though.

finished, finally, 12 hours trimming today, plus 3 hours last night, plus 2 hours for washing....
i dont even do so much in a day at work!! haha

how it looks in the fridge
note i put the THE LIGHT BULB BACK IN FOR THE PHOTO. after the picture i removed the bulb
have done nothing different than hanging from my normal fridge. i have had to adjust what i get but it allows me to move my veg plants directly into that tent after a harvest

Check again in a week and they’ll probably be right where you need them for jarring up. Things can change pretty quick sometimes.

Don’t worry. It’s worth the wait. :hugs:

@Hdinkleman, nicely done! :high_five:
