DrZiggy's Low And Slow Drying: Maximizing Your Harvest

@SweetSue i’m So impressed with what you and ziggy have done on this thread!

Just before I found this thread I was actually researching alternative, better ways to dry and cure but really didn’t find much! I’m blown away at how little info there is on this lo&slo method outside of the 420 forums! I stumbled across this thread thanks to @irie lion mentioning it in his grow journal.

Anyways so this is my first ever grow and i’m Keen to give this a shot. I was too late in finding this forum to start a grow journal so like Hdinkelman i’ll Be documenting my experience on this thread.

One question: I have followed this thread up to about page 50. At that point it seemed the preferred method was to use jars, and now it seems open/paper bag method is the preferred way. What would you say are the key differences between jars/paper/open hung in the fridge?

thanks :D
nor can in lol
i guess a few weeks yet :(

i performed a jar test on the critical today
after an hour it was up to like 86% rh, thats at 13 days.
another week at least?
if you didnt cut the colas up its going to be AT LEAST 4 weeks if not 6

my hanging experiment with a small cola took 3 weeks to dry, i almost guarantee the bigger colas i hung will take at least a month, maybe 6 weeks

from my little bit of experience with the method hanging works best.
also rolling buds in paper bags youre gonna lose some trichs and flatten the buds as well somewhat

Hey Dink! I'm glad the hanging method works for you but not sure I agree with this statement. My buds have never flattened and my thought would be you lose more trichs and terps hanging in "open air" in the fridge. My statement is not based on science, really more gut feeling and a few things I've read.

LOVE that so many are finding and using this method!

:passitleft:

funnily enough i did search a couple of other forums when i first found this thread, if other communities use it, i dont use other forums but was curious about its widespread use, as like with budwashing...
and there was no mention i could find of it lol

for me all my sugar leaves that were left on definitely gave my buds a paper bag dry appearance.

and i felt inside the numerous paper bags i used and could feel stickiness from trichs, so in my case there was definitely some trich loss, prob not much but whatever

i was rolling the buds in the bags too, to move them around so that probably didnt help much though lol

i started a thread about this method of drying on another forum.

was ridiculed and harassed about it.
told off the admin and a couple supporters and got banned for a week.

havent been back since, thcfarmer is by far the worst forum online for growing.
rollitup.org is garbage too

sorry but im sticking to 420magazine

I jumped on the slo and lo bandwagon near the beginning of the thread. It’s now my go-to method of drying in the summer. I wet manicure and cut the buds off and loosely fill paper bags and put them in the fridge humidor or shelves in the door. Drying takes 2-3 weeks and I get great smelling and tasting bud. Unless drying conditions for regular drying are PERFECT, I always do a slow and lo dry. Bravo and thank you for this incredible thread!

Unless you’re growing for sale the flattening isn’t anything to be concerned with, IMHO. It’s the retention of terpene profiles that has us all excited. Terpenes determine the quality of buzz you’re going to get, and when you want the most potential from your buds this is what you do.

Well.... you cob if full potential is what you’re shooting for, but outside of the wonders of chewing cobs, low and slo is the best method I’ve come across for top-quality buds.

i was rolling the buds in the bags too, to move them around so that probably didnt help much though lol

:laughtwo: I do this all the time, and I don’t think we lose as many trichomes in bags as we did in glass. Most of the essential oil is inside the buds anyway.

You guys make me so happy that I was inspired to start this thread and followed that inspiration, and I’m shocked to hear another forum banned you Dink. They completely missed the opportunity to be on the leading edge.

When Ziggy originally presented it himself on this forum he was ridiculed too. I have this way with passion and joy that helped get the message across. Lol!

We like it out here on the leading edge. We don’t care who follows us. We’re happily increasing the stores of deliciousness. :hookah:

I don’t see any problem with hanging in the fridge. The cold and stillness are what keep the terpenes from drifting away.

i wanted to cob actually, i just dont have the vacuum sealer.
remember i was posting on there too sue lol.
hopefully sometime soon will get the stuff and the ambition to do a cob cure, thinking in about 16 weeks when my next harvest is in lol

Hiya. Can I please double check with you..

Does this mean you don’t do the washing bit? Sorry if I’m missing something. Pricked my ears up at that as maybe a way to take a run-up at the whole method?

I’ve gotta say though...@Sctanley007 ... those buds back there look like the business!

i love this method already, ive dried some bits just hanging in a cupboard, little bits, came out alright still, but looking at the critical buds and the feel of them now been in the fridge for over 2 weeks they look fresh and smell is coming back, starting to feel crisp all on the outsides.

i have washed all that i am lo and slow drying,
after doing the gas there was a heavy smell of the buds in there for sure, i cant help but wonder how many trichs are actually lost through washing, i was very gently, as i was apprehensive still, and after they dried off they were still glistening and sticky as hell, but still.. lol

love the acrid smell of the fridge when its opend when fresh bud is first put in lol
so strong a waft in the face.

cant wait for the end product to be ready!
