You should thank her for her unsolicited opinion and offer your own about some aspect of her life. People like that piss me off.
You don't know what I just went through man. From attacking my parenting ability first and foremost. My son is saying 5 to 6 word sentences and can say 5 syllable words and he isn't even 2.5. Then trying to tell me I'm giving my child second hand smoke. Then trying to tell me I'm going to go to jail. Then trying to tell me how I need to stop doing what I'm doing when they drive around at night trashed whenever there is a family event after popping their Xanax. Like I can't even begin to tell you how I couldn't even think straight. I was trying to respond to Shed initially and I was shaking I was so vehemently mad. On top of it all she, and the rest of his family, are so uneducated in this that it makes me sick. I just can't stand it. I totally understand your frustration Azi

As I posted I received a text from TKs Aunt berating my growing and giving me the whole anti-weed schpiel. It was unnerving and I needed to focus on keeping myself level headed and had to step away from the conversation-wasn't my intent to leave in the middle.
Sorry to hear the shit she's giving you Krissi. There seems to be one in almost every family that not only has an opinion on everything but also knows what buttons to push. Oof on her.

Big oofa on her. When the baby gets brought up and the Greek and the Italian come out, you see the freak I really am.

Don't let the bastards bring you down is absolutely right. Thank you Shed

Well it is a bit more than the recommended 50% leaf wilt!
Well, lower leaves for sure, but I would assume his target leaf is up higher and shows less droop than the lowers.

Also, I think it's a 50  degree droop, not percent, though I have seen it written up both ways. I did 20 degrees to 70 if I recall correctly.

It s a 50% change in the original LWA per the study. Caplan specifically refers to it like this: "...the indicator leaf angle increased by ~50% from the turgid leaf angle..."

Can't link to pdfs on site but here is the page, in second paragraph down in the third column he mentions 50% twice:

Thanks, Shed. I'll have to see if I can find the reference I recall. Yours is the original though I believe.

And how would one measure the wilt by percent, say like in my case with a 20 degree starting angle? I guess it depends on which side of the plant you pick.

Mine was on the right hand side and started at 20 degrees and I ended it at 70 degrees as it drooped.

So, if 50%, what beginning value is used? It can't be the 20 degree number since that actually increased as the leaf drooped.

Not sure I'm picturing this right, but 0º is the branch angle, so I don't think your petiole-leaf attachment was only 20º up from that, was it?. If you measure up from the bottom, 20º is really 180-20 or 160º. 50% of 160 is 80, so a 50% change is 160-80 or 80º angle to end the drought.

If you used 50 degrees rather than percent you would have waited to 110º final angle (160-50) which is before Caplan's recommendation.

I set the base of the protractor against the stem and took the angle of the petiole at 20 degrees so it was basically praying in orientation to start.
So 20º off the top edge is 160º from the bottom. It's much easier to calculate that way because the other way the leaf angle is increasing rather than decreasing.

Either way, if you went from 20º to 70º (so never beyond 90º) you stopped too early by Caplan's measurements as I mentioned above (70 being 110 in the other direction, rather than 80 from the bottom).

I guess I'm not picturing it. I'll have to check when the lights come back on to see the values I used.

If done according to the study, what angle should I have stopped at?

Is it 180-20=160 × .50 =80 degrees?

180 in my case meaning straight down, no angle left.
