That's an old picture
Perfect as Shed noted it is good to have a pre drought as a reference point so hold onto that for sure!
Oh Krissi wait till you see how I stripped you when I take a picture later on:-(
Ain't nothing left but a little ball on top and two sugar leaves. Haha
Hahahaha my first ever monster crop reveg attempt named after me!! I'm speechless. I'm sure she looks like a damn beautiful stick :cheer::cheer:

You'll see soon enough my babies are waking up here shortly. I'm going to smoke me a joint then I go up there and take a picture I got the clone under 24-hour light though with the seedlings that I got started although sometimes I do turn the light off for a couple hours I just have a habit of wanting them to rest for some reason.

But I have a question for you I watered them yesterday did not know about the drought shit. So when is my actual drought Day start since they got a gallon of each yesterday?

GIGI DAY 2 DROUGHT: TRICHIES

Thank the good Green Lords that I am better at trichome shots than I apparently am at following very lucid directions from one of our best growers on an angle app
I'm gonna give it a good go tomorrow and start from scratch...pretend I was never here with those LWA measurements

You may know what you mean but that's not how to determine when drought ends. It is a 50% change in LWA when you water again.
Thank you for clarifying Shed. My apologies for my miswording!

Ahoy there!
So here is my take on the effect of droughting cannabis.

The slow and deliberate application of abiotic stress induced via controlled drought has beneficial effects on the quality and potency of cannabis. The purpose of this publication is to provide my best explanation why this phenomenon occurs.

During the application of drought cannabis plants will increase production of essential oils to protect the seeds it believes are in her flowers. This resin is noticeably more psychoactive than resin produced under normal circumstances. My first inclination was that during drought cannabis produced a cannabinoid yet to be identified. This remains an active theoretical component of our discussion, however this is not my focus.

My belief is that during drought the resin becomes stronger for several reasons I will identify. First during the drought, the abiotic stress is constantly applied and continuously worsening. This gives the Genetic Regulatory Network (GRN) the time to recognize the existential threat being posed by lack of water and formulate a special survival response. This species survival is written in each strains DNA and provides instructions for the hormonal reaction that brings about the antagonization of the JA pathways producing the essential oils. Additionally, the cultivar will begin transportation of available plant resources presented in the foliar mass giving the appearance of dying discolored leaves (senescence). The leaves that are being drained of color and life are being used by the GRN to enhance species survival. The plant will take resources and nutritious energy from the dying leaf and move it (transportation) to the florescence wherein it will be used in the production of essential oils. This includes the glandular trichomes on the foliar material. I have photographed the draining of these trichomes during transportation that show little to nothing remains after the process. The glands remain intact but have been emptied of essential oils.

The resin produced during drought will be more psychoactive essentially because it is produced under duress that I call plant adrenaline. When species survival is on the line the adrenaline is high and urgent, producing superior medicine.

So, in drought the transportation of plant resources provides the adrenaline needed to produce the enhanced essential oils. The enhanced essential oil produced during drought makes for better medicine and is stonier.

Pass the love forward.

Dave

I could not agree more with @Maritimer and I am so glad he is back to enlighten us in so many ways. I need proper time to digest and comment on that fabulous synopsis as I was grabbing shots of Gigi and didn't realize this had come up!

I will get back to that later tonight!!

I wanted to note that the trich shots I'm posting now were just magnifications on my phone today from the original pictures they came from, shown here as well. Day 3 and her trichome development is wicking up hard. You can clearly see the absolute bunches of them all over these buds.

This leaf wilt angle thing is a crap shoot at best IMO. If I were trying to measure this I would definitely be making myself a reference point. Maybe stick a pin in it or better yet a drop of white out on the stem somewhere so you can put your fulcrum (elbow) in the same spot every time. If your fulcrum moves even slightly up or down your angle will change drastically.

Again this is just my opinion. Anything, a dot of paint, a twist tie, a pin, anything that will not move so as to give a reference point to place the fulcrum.

On your first try neither of your horizontal lines were actually horizontal (the right one was close), yes I would be following the stem as suggested.

GIGI DAY 3 DROUGHT: PLANT SHOTS

Apologize for not being able to post more details right now as I'm on limited nap time with the baby and can only get so much done!

Thanks for coming by! Catch you all tonight!

Well my issue now as you noted was the leaning the plants are having. I can't be 100% accurate. Like I said after using the angles the first couple times and getting used to the look of the plant I personally have a tendency to just go by what I see now. Getting the same branch is easy...

I am trying to use the app for the sake of this thread and trying to do it as close to spec as it should be done. I am very much aware of the variables involved and I appreciate your feedback very much!

I agree

Oh I saw that it was hard to get the line straight when I was angling the next line over

This. I have no doubt you can look at your plant and know exactly when it's time. These app photos are you helping to illustrate the technique visually for everyone! Well done, ty.

If there's one thing any supporters of droughting should add to their watering schedule. It's aloe. Please research the many benefits of aloe included in your watering. From organic PGRs to helping your plant through DROUGHT conditions. I'm telling you! Right now to improving cell structure. My secret ingredient I'll share here with you.

I appreciate that Oli, thank you!!

With that said, I'm trying this again...idk how well I did, but I tried to do the best I could with her leaning....I'm sure I am a little off as we have been discussing here but at least we are trying!!
