Doc Bud's High Brix Q&A With Pictures

5 gallon pots......hmmm. I seem to recall someone saying once that 7 gallons is the minimum size.....something about roots needing more soil, etc.

Super Drenches, 2 in a row, then water once......Then GE twice, strong....then water......the Super Drench.

Next time use the minimum size container, which is 40% larger than the one you're using. ;)

Yup, my bad! That "someone" ;) did tell me to use 7 gal with Autos, but I just didn't think I could get the roots that we so badly want. Well, lesson learned ol' wise one! :Namaste:

Thanks for being the one to find out mmm! I am toying with trying some autos in the kit - way down the track after I’ve grown photos successfully of course! Most say anything bigger than 5gal is a waste for autos but they don’t grow in the kit. Clearly High Brix autos break some ‘rules’. All else aside, those autos of yours look wonderful in size and stature for autos! :thumb; Please report back on the post drenches response/recovery.

:Namaste:

Don t grow good in the kit!!!!
Nah! I meant that the growers who say anything bigger than 5 is a waste do not grow in the kit - so they don’t know!

I’m right with ya there!

Could just see that mmm was following the generally accepted ‘rule’ about autos. Clearly High Brix is going to defy that.

Sorry if I wasn’t clear.., must be all this BCP you keep handing me! ;)

7 gallons is the minimum recommended size. Period. I don't care what you're growing.....that's as small as you should go.

Larger is better....to a point.

Thanks Duggs & Dajerm ! Biggest thing I learned from Duggan was big pots are good, and keep topping off the soil as it settles.

I’m no where near Duggs monster pots, but I’ve tryed 7’s and 15’s. 7’s work well and I use if I’m pheno hunting a new run, as I can fit more plants n a space. I find the 15’s more forgiving. They could support a much larger plant but space is always a premium. I’ve have an OG and bubblegum 2 weeks into flowering now that I vegged for 5 weeks in the 1’s, then 5 weeks in the 7’s, then Transplanted to the 15’s at the flip. I’m pushing the limits on my height restrictions. The OG is big and tall, I could have done some more training, but oh well, I just use tomato cages, like Doc does. The BG will stay very squat, just the colas get way bigger!

Cheers gang!

I went from 1gals to 3gals and then 15 gals at flip. I might do 5gals instead of 3 gals For veg next time around to get bigger plants before flip but honestly they had a super nice rootball ready to explode for flip and I might just stick with 3’s

15 gal pots have done just fine!

Just harvester her two days ago at 52 post flip

WOW, very nice.

Hi there LG, can I ask a couple Question. It’s been a few months since I’ve been on so I don’t want to jump to conclusions here.

You said the you last fed water and tea, correct? Can I ask when this became a thing? If you fed water and and GE your next feeding would have been straight water, water and maybe 1/4 TP added to both and then feed you CD.
Please correct me if I am incorrect and things have changed. Also it looks as tho your buds are just setting. I think in some experiences a wk 4 CD was producing better results for HB growers. At day 16 you next You may want one more water before the CD for optimal results. But it’s been 6 months since I’ve grown, so what the ef do I know lol ‍♂️
Sorry Mag7! I missed this comment. I am a very new Brixxer. I was in error for mixing a tea with water. Looks like someone beat me to responding as to that effect! :) I am still very much learning the kit. Doc's got a lot of really experienced and knowledgeable Brixxers that will steer you in the right direction pretty quick if Doc's not on the scene. ;)
I'm here to live and to learn the ways of the few and the great! I'm very much appreciative for all the help and advice I get in this thread! Cheers! LG

Hey CK,

How’s it going? :passitleft:

I’ve always gone from the 1’s to the 15’s, but at harvest they were not root bound at all. If I used the 7’s there would be a great mass of roots at harvest. Again the 15’s could support a much larger plant, and I’m experimenting with where that line is with regards to my space.

Gonna try an outdoor Doc Bud high brix grow this year with some Jalalabad Star beans I got from a friend. Story is they were obtained in Afghanistan by a Russian solder at the end of the Russian occupancy, given to a friend who kept the line going for decades. Suppose to ripen early September, which is great for southern New England.

Take care
