Doc Bud's High Brix Q&A With Pictures

I think it's combination of the 2. I threw away everything that I had from cks, about 20 packs lol.

I can tell a big difference between the kit and advanced nutrients. Seems like with the kit the frost packs on about week or 2 earlier than with reg nutes.

With the better seeds I'm not picking nanners all the way thru flower like I did for few years using cks. I found at least couple seeds every grow for past 3-4 years lol. That's why I threw them away. Lol

I found Cks seeds are starting to really suck myself.

Doc Bud - High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Got a question for anyone that wants to answer... If we start these ladies off in HB soil, and say I wanna give away a clone, would the clones be ok going into non-HB soil? Or is that outa the question? Seems to me that they would struggle at first, but then come around and do ok. But I am a newb...

Is the clone rooted and in HB soil? If not and it's just a tooted clone going in new soil then it would be just like any clone going into new soil. It will adjust as it needs to. As long as the new gardener keeps it alive it should be fine.

I'm about to give super drench, after giving each a gal apiece I was going to finish off with distilled water. Is this right or should I wait to finish watering?

Good question. Or do you fully drench the entire soil with the super drench solution?

Directions say 1 gallon per plant so I'm not sure if you do 1 gallon of the Super Drench solution per plant added to whatever amount of RO you need to drench the soil or if you drench the entire soil with the SD solution even if it's 4-5 gallons.

Yep, top off with straight water if they need more than a gallon - no sweat. :cheesygrinsmiley:

Assuming a 7 gallon pot, I use a gallon to water pretty much every time, drench or not.

In a 14 gallon pot, perhaps I'd use 2 gallons. Gauge it on that.

Sour strawberry day 34-35 can't remember

Just did the First Cat

8 days after END of Stretch (approx week 3 of flower)
and
2 weeks after complete switch to 11/13 from 16/8.
and Recharge/EWC

I think I will be using the END of Stretch as my TIMING KEY
for the CAT. That is as long as I have not missed it already.

Gazoo, you've got some nice looking plants there!

A point of clarification: how do you calculate the "stretch"? I've always used day 8 - 26 of 12/12 as the stretch period. It sounds from what you wrote you do to, but I'm a little confused when you said "approx. week three of flower". To me, you would be at day 34 of 12/12 (26+8) or one day shy of five weeks. Not trying to be critical, just trying understand your method. Thx.

Thanks medmanmike No Problem, Let me try and explain

Yup I can see the confusion with my timing. The thing is I do a very long transition from 16/8 to the
flower 11/13 light period. I only change the time 15 minutes a day so it takes 20 days for a 5 hour change,
the plants start to flower before the time change is completed and I did not note the actual start of flower?
So "approx. week 3".

As for the END of Stretch, its not specific. I wait until I can see they are not stretching. Again this is
just my best guess but its actually easy to see when they stop stretching. You may notice the Ruler in
the back, it hangs from the edge of the bottom (HPS 400W) Light glass so to alert me when things start
to get to close.
Also Before end of stretch I have a Metal Yard stick attached to the Ruler so I can monitor the growth
very well.

Hope that kinda explains how I am counting the time. Also I am not really one to stick to a flower time,
I don't much count the days I let the plant tell me.

I was really trying to get a good point to use for the CAT Drenches
but NOW feel I was still a little late so Not sure if this method will work

Hey Gazoo! Wanted to offer some words of encouragement. I DO think your lighting schedule/Cat schedule will work for you with practice--for me, it takes a round or two to dial the CAT in for the strain I'm growing to get the effects I'm looking for.

I encourage folks to try not to get too caught up in 'perfect timing'. For me, part of the fun is getting to play with when to drench for each strain, and not keeping things on an uber-strict schedule. 'Late' (I dislike that term) CAT drenches tend to leave more of the 'funky' terps (that's how I'd describe them, at least!) behind. This can make all the difference between "That looks like some good weed", and, "HOLY HELL, you grew this!? Hey guys, check this out!"

For me, growing strains like UK Cheese, Sour Diesel, even some OG Phenos--I prefer a CAT drench a little 'later' than others might use it. The pungent terps really start singing then!

Really, it's just one more tool in the 'kit' we get to play with in our quest to grow the best possible cannabis. Playing with the CAT Drench we get the ability to essentially customize terpene expression--and therefore effects--of the cannabis we grow. "Late" is just a label--I (occasionally) wear it with pride.

Cheers gang, hope everyone's hump day is off to a good start. :thumb:

Thanks for jumping in and posting your approach. Yes I was planning on working
with the timing, won't relay know until I have a few runs to compare. I was thinking
the END of Stretch would be a good point to start but as mentioned earlier not sure
if that will be the BEST time, Looks like I will need to keep a better account of flower
starting time to adjust to, just need more grows and finished product to really get a
better idea of what the results are according to when applied.

I find that if you just pay close attention to the plants and let your innate ability to recognize patterns function just below your conscious thoughts-----IE rely on "instinct" and intuition-----you'll start to just know it. It will be your style in your room, with your strains.

The directions are like learning the major scales and I, IV, V chords. Once you get all that it's time to learn the rest.

Yes it will be great once I have something to compare, First time running the Kit so nothing to pin a pattern to yet :)
Being one who likes to plan and calculate for the best results I still need a point to work from while I learn my CHORDS.

Timing from start of FLOWER seems now to be a better approach so did a little reading in my Journal for clues.

Just looked back in my Journal for some specific timing dates
Began the switch form 16/8 to 11/13 @ 15 min a day on SEP 3
Completed the light On/Off switch on the 23rd another 3 days
for the Light bulb switch 1 Bank of the Blue spectrum each day
and then the final switch to my HPS from the MH on the 26th of sep

Looks like a made a note that both plants were showing flowers on
the 26th as well. Fairly sure they had not been flowering for more
than a week at that time so If I count back a week from the 26th
Yesterday would have been end of 4 weeks

This means I did the first CAT at End of week 3 from start of flower
So now I can adjust back from there and try and Bracket this in :)

That's a cool comparison. Never thought of it that way.

Now it's time for the avant-garde jazz! 😁

This may sound Harsh but I really mean this as a Comparison
no harm intended

I find the directions like reading a TOYOTA manual, written in
English by someone who speaks Japanese. It’s probably just ME.

I still need to learn the Language (chords) before it’s all going to make
sense
