Doc Bud's High Brix Q&A With Pictures

So I have a question about what these girls are going to be needing so, I have the old kit. The one that's better for landrace. What else do I need to buy for flower and veg to accommodate the frakenstrains I'm running? I already have Epsom salts as well I know they're needed for bloom.

OG Drench. :)

I'm with Duggan. Get the new stuff if you feel so inclined. But in reality, the old formulas grew some fine cannabis, so I wouldn't feel a "need" to get anything else if you didn't want to just yet.

Hi Doc, gearing up for my 8th HB grow. Expanding the grow area to accommodate 15 plants. All new soil, therefore, I'll need 3 kits worth. I'll be emailing you shortly, but would like to get a better understanding of what quantities the dry ingredients - Amendment, Recharge and Roots! come in. Both for a kit and for larger quantities.

I know the "liquids" come in pints and quarts (maybe gallons?) In doing a search of this thread someone mention that the Amendment (1 kit's worth) is 1.5 lbs. Is this correct? What about Recharge and Roots!? What is a "kit" quantity?

Do you have a preference when ordering, e.g, "I need three kits worth?" or ?

Perhaps one day there will be a web page for ordering with prices, quantities, etc.? (hint, hint )

Here are a couple of pics of the current ladies:
1) Auto Pink Diesel X Amnesia (freebie) day 76 of 84 from seed (have you ever seen a strain like this? Like strings of pearls. The only thing I've seen come close to this is a Dr. Grinspoon strain.
2) Pakistan Citral Kush - day 26 of 12/12 \
3) Rosetta Stone (Brother's Grimm) day 26. The PCK and RS are due for the 2nd cat drench in a few days.

Thanks again for all you do. You da man! :thanks:

Hi MMM,

Quantities range from "kit" sized up to gallons. Dry stuff is sold in any size needed, up to 100's of lbs. Roots! is sold in 3 lb. bags.

There is a website waiting in the background. At present labeling is being submitted to our illustrious government, who will collect money from me and "certify" the products. Once we get all that paperwork back the website will go live and I'm sure we'll all miss the simplicity of what we're doing now!

Epsom salts in bloom, Snake Oil (reformulated WayAhead), and possibly some organic, non-gmo fed blood meal.

The trick with the frankenstrains is the really baby the roots in veg and early bloom, hitting them with the salts AFTER the usual Cat Drenches. The roots are so inefficient and poor and these strains that you've got to really work on developing them first, then getting the soil energy up.

What should I do during veg to ensure that the roots develop well?

Follow the directions. The "old" formulas have nothing to do with root development. They only come into play with certain strains in bloom.

Follow the directions and you'll be just fine. The first few pages of "in the lab" shows watering tech. The kit directions also mention it. Please follow the directions! Here's what they have to say:

Watering Tech for Vegetative Growth

Try to let the containers go completely dry between waterings. What I mean by completely dry is that the first physical signs of "wilting" are present. Droopy leaves, loss of turgor, etc. When the containers are bone dry, do this:

Prepare a tub/bucket of water such that when you submerge a dry container from above, the water level is 3/4ths up to the level of the soil. If using a drench, mix it TWICE AS STRONG AS NORMAL.

Submerge the containers and let them soak and wick up the drench for 5 minutes or so. When removing the containers from the soaking bucket/tub, tilt them this way and that in order to drain as much liquid out as possible.

The draining will draw air in from above which the plants absolutely love. This method will result in stronger stems, much better roots, shorter internodal spacing and better leaf to calyx ratio.

So with the old kit I don't need to do anything new in veg, just follow the instructions really well to get those roots strong. Then in bloom I use the new snake oil, organic non GMO fed blood meal, and Epsom's which I already have. I need to use the blood meal after the first cat drench? As well as the Epsom's?

Am I getting this correct? Please correct me. Also when do I use the Snake oil?

We should have a special day every year, where we try to imagine just how many govt buildings are filled with offices containing just how many govt workers (with great benefits) whose job is to watch what productive people are doing and write about it. How many buildings? How many workers? Oh and they can't get fired. Swell.

If they were cleaning motel rooms or passing food through windows they'd be doing something more productive, right? Then watch them and take notes and tell them which clause in the official employee manual they've violated this time.

Just how many buildings and offices and workers?

seaweed, for now just get those products to have on hand...you may not need all of em, but good to have just in case. You won't be needing any of them till mid bloom, so you have plenty of time.

Next read our journals...high brix journals to see how we all apply this system, but understand that some of the more advanced members tweak and experiment. You want to follow Doc's directions for your 1st few grows to get a feel for how it all works. I recommend to read through Docs instructions and focus your questions on the part of the grow your currently in. I found when I tried to understand completely the whole thing start to finish with great detail...it all became a blur to me. Working through each part of the grow with input from all of us is a good recipe for successful and learning. Start a journal and post a link here if you want, or post here, we will help you.

Fyi- My journal is my 3rd grow and a perpetual one. I am following the Docs directions, and will note it if I am going to experiment outside the direction. Read from the beginning ask your questions and learn with us.

Doc's system works, my second grow below ready to harvest soon....thanks Doc!

I guess I just try to understand everything like I feel that I understand the basics of the kit or at least the old one without any additives. I'm trying to understand the best course of action to take for the new one you know? Dugg told me to get the new GE trans and snake oil and that would be all I need but I could do it a different route with the blood meal and what not with the original kit. So im really just trying to find the best course of action if I run into problems obviously I'll ask about them but I'm a planner with this stuff and I'm passionate as fuck about cannabis so I'm just trying to understand the best route from the get go.

I hear ya, planning is good. Having an overview of the whole thing is smart. I remember being told to stay ahead of the grow, know what the next move will be... for me though, it took doing it and making mistakes to pound it into my long term memory. I found myself and still do today, looking back to Docs instructions often, and seeing something I missed. I must have read them a 100 times now.

I will tell you this, record as much info as you can each day of your grow...everything, dates that the seed popped, drenches, drinks, anything you add to the soil, recharge, upcanning dates, flip date, environment temps RH, etc....it can help you and others troubleshoot any problems if we know this stuff. And you can look back to what you did previously when you start your next grows.

I'm still running the old formulas, and have to use it up. I do use the Epsoms for my salt lovers, but I never used the bloodmeal, others have stated that it attracts bugs and messes up the soil for future grows. I have the old wayx10 formula. It all Still works like a charm!

You won't go wrong with Duggan's advise, he is patient with us newbies and questions and is also passionate about his cannabis.

If you have the old formula, it still works...use it up...learn with it. Order the new stuff too, cuz once you toke your first DBHBB bud you will not stop my friend;)

Alright I'm heading home, been typing here for an hour.. got to go home to see my ladies...and my wife. Lol
