Doc Bud's High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Doc, how do you combat the lack of soil when the rootball takes up the whole pot? Do you increase the amount of whichever drench you use? Do you still do just water in between?

I dunk 'em daily when they're that rootbound. I also mix up the dunk/drench twice as strong as the topfeed/normal drench when dunking.

When they're that rootbound, water might only happen every 3rd drench, but they get transplanted pretty quick when at that stage.

I did one yesterday and the roots were so thick that I could have scored them over a tablecloth and no dirt would have shown.

So correct me if im I'm wrong but you use 20 mils when theyre THAT rootbound? Im gonna check them in the morning to see if theyre light and if they are im going to pull one to see how the ball looks. I know theyre getting close that's for sure

OK, soil is cooking and clones are made. Hope I didn't cut them to early. This run will be my prized girls Triangle Kush x Dr grinspoon. I'm very excited to run her in Docs gear.

Doc I had mites at the end of last round, want to make sure the healthy big veg girls dont get destroyed.....they seem fine...but...I want to TCB.

Got anything for them? What do u suggest? A friend told me i had to throw out my dirt, but I really don't want to lose it. Is there anything I should do or put in that dirt before I "cooK" it between rounds?

TYVM!

anyone who can answer pls do!

I know they don't like wet so in the meantime I'll be giving them weak destress sprays every couple days between brixes until we figure something out.

Are they biting the leaves? Or just hanging out?

Hitting them with weak foliars is usually enough, unless you've loaded up on bloodmeal and epsoms.....in that case, with slightly lower brix they can be a bit of a problem.

I've pretty much always got mites. Once in a while you can see their presence on some lower leaves that are ready to drop off anyways, but mostly you wouldn't know they're there.

The best thing you can do is to spray the crap out of them with the aim of physically dislodging them from the leaves....I use the Leaf Wash product for this, just prior to bloom. I've also used DeStress (half strength) for the same purpose and it works very well if done twice just prior to bloom....maybe 3 days in between sprays. Leaf Wash works better, however.

Keeping brix up and irritating the bastards regularly is usually enough to do the trick. I'd much rather have a few mites that no one can see than spray with something nasty.

That's ultimately why I went with the kit. Getting away from funky chems is the way to go being that states allowing large commercial grows will be inundated with the shit.

I have no mite problem yet but these talks here are building up my attack plan.

Mites must crawl up pots to get to plants most of the time, right? Touching branches can spread, but mostly wouldn't it be the crawl up? Maybe some fancy adhesive strips around pots to stop migration? Doesn't help for a existing infestations...

Thx Doc!

Whatsup with the Leaf Wash?

I actually added bloodmeal last round and plan to do it again, I think its what attracted the flareup in the first place, epsoms are there too.

Yep. When you mess with the soil, sometimes there are consequences. I have the same problem!

After a run of salt loving strains I almost always have to go back to 1st run soil in order to get the population back under control. I have very little trouble with the critters unless I'm using bloodmeal/epsoms.

Next time you order, ask for some Leaf Wash!

Hey everyone. I had a quick question. wasn't sure when to start foliars and drenches. I have a few plants in veg and have only watered with 1/4 transplant when they start to wilt. I was wondering when can I start foliars/drenches and which ones.

Haven't been able to start a journal but appreciate the help. Thanks!

Doc.... About leaf wash, I haven't seen any instructions on it can you better explain about it and it's application

It's as simple as adding 1/4 oz Leaf Wash to a quart of water and spraying every single inch, top, bottom, stem and leaf of the plant hard enough to dislodge mites, kill them, etc.

It's a mixture of 3 oils, Neem, Orange and Karanja, along with phosphoric acid and the Transplant product.

I'm using it as a pre-bloom wash on everything now.

Start with foliars and drenches when there are 5 sets of leaves. You can do weaker DeStress sooner if you need to, but ideally wait till 5 sets of leaves.

In veg, you'll want to alternate Growth Energy, Water and Transplant drenches.
In bloom, you'll want to add the Cat Drench as mentioned in the instructions.

Brix should be sprayed weekly to every 10 days. Destress should only be used if there is stress that shows up on the plants for one reason or the other.

I never read anything about using BTI for gnats in hi brix soil. would this be ok if needed ?
