will keep you posted..:

Doc, please forgive me if this has been addressed already, but what is the best method for keeping the beautiful lime green in our nugs post-harvest? I find that during the cure, darker colors tend to set in and the vibrant green is difficult to keep unless I dry them beyond preference before jarring.

I simply don't know! I've never thought about it or worried about it before.

I have noticed that higher brix readings lead to gummy buds that seem to stay fresh for a long time, while lower readings lead to crunchy buds that turn yellow/brownish green.

I think it might have more to do with growing rather than curing.

But, scientifically speaking, if you wanted to completely stop the curing process, put them in a jar with only nitrogen. It works for wines and would work for buds too.

There are spray cans of nitrogen available for re-corking wine. They have a straw that you stick into the bottle to fill it and force out the air. It'd work the same for our jars ... :cheesygrinsmiley::slide:

Noted. I rarely step into a dispensary. But when I do, or I see these crispy dry nugs people have purchased there, a lot of them tend to be really pretty in color.

For what it's worth, I'd never trade the cure for color. But the nitrogen is an interesting concept nonetheless.

Thanks!

Anyone doubting the HiBrix hype, doubt no more. It's for real.

Hey everyone, evenin to ya's. Boogs, ..look at those nugs ..brotha , ...the second pic is a winner, it will win a contest! It is a perfect example of a bud that has very visible ,mature ,gland heads. Almost every one is a perfect milky color and i bet it smokes like heaven too! Nice job my good man! What hype??:blunt::)

Oh ya , about the color thing...It's all a matter of chlorophyll, it's the "green". When the moisture leaves, so does the chlorophyll. There is nothing you could do to keep that in a dried and cured bud. Don't matter none....as Doc said...rather have a yummy properly cured bud than one that was sacrificed for color.
OK, off topic....any you guys live by yourself.....prolly not....what a drag cooking for myself every night....oh wait...cooking period. Gotta go make me some food.... Cheers gang...have a great night.
Doc,..next time ya borrow the DeLorean, take the clock off of 1975 would ya!....:passitleft:

sent from my DeLorean...in the future!:ganjamon:

I agree, damned shame there seems to be MILLIONS in cash going to un-cured nug out here.

I'm with Doc on his vision of 10 years from now. Only connoisseur flowers will make the grade, meaning only the best growers will make money on it. Do you guys even realize what Doc is teaching you right now?

Morning China...just a suggestion for ya. Next time ya need some "Kit" stuff, just order in bulk...it's a lil cheaper and you won't find yourself always placing an order with Doc OK! All the liquid stuff is available in one litre bottles and the rocks can be ordered by the pound. Keep in mind , it takes 1-1/2 pounds of amendment to properly amend a "full" kit OK! A good sized order would be ...say...6 pounds of amendment...this is enough for 4 "kit's" worth OK! Cheers China....did you get the other supplies you will need....EWC's and ProMix? Have an awesome day China Doc, and friends!:circle-of-love:

Yep. But for people who just want to try it out and see how it works, or for those who grow only a couple plants at at time, the "kit" is a better introduction than a larger order.

If folks don't like it they have lots of stuff left over, which sucks. So, I always recommend a kit to start.

This is right Doc, but I have never heard of anyone NOT liking your gear ! Have you?:blunt:

Wow bud...I wasn't aware of that. Wonder what they screwed up?

A few screwed up by not cooking soil right----outside in cold weather, concrete slab, etc.

But I'd say most of the folks who didn't continue were growing specifically for yield and opted for hydro and/or coco and salt nutes, mostly hydro.

One operation in particular had a horrible mite infestation. They ran two cycles with High Brix and had no real problem with the mites....but yield was down from the rockwool block hydro set up, so after two runs they went back to hydro and miticides.

We're talking buds laced with several miticides that should not be used on food crops, let alone "medical" crops. They would wear tyvek suits and spray weekly. It was very sad. They admitted that the "soil buds" were pretty good, but a no-go due to the yield, which was down about 20% from previous.

I calculated that they probably spent more money on nutes and miticides which ate in to their profit.....but they didn't keep detailed books or anything....they just liked the idea of a really high yield.

Now, that operation makes wax mostly and the crap they grow all gets processed into concentrates, pesticides and all.

But for the most part, people who try the kit and actually read the directions and follow them, as opposed to "incorporating" every rumor or opinion that they come across.....growers like this never go back.

There will always be a place for the best quality, no matter how the market changes.
