Doc Bud's High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Hiya, SloTown....always like to see you say Hi......

Doc, my plants don't grow as tall as yours so I have smaller yields...for me, this year has all been about controlling the environment as you taught me....I am dialing and dialing down to reproduce what you do....in the process of creating a flower room #2 but am having power problems at the breaker.....of course, right.....(Hi Duggan!)

Enter my neighbor of 15 years, electrical and plumbing contractor among other things, a card carrying MJ member of my state and part of my state's vast swinger culture (I don't judge and who knew?) who will do the electrical work for me....I feel blessed as a single and private female grower that was freaking out at having someone off the street in my grow.....

It's all great, Doc, thank you for all that you have taught me.....

Medmanmike: PM me for sure!

Got a question Doc

on day 30 I did a super drench because the soil energy went flat.

4 OZ Transplant
40 ML Tea

6 TBSP Epsom Salts (15-20 Gallon pot)

Since then, she has had a plain watering, Destress and Brix

Today is day 43

I noticed yesterday, the leaves look to be curling up, browning at the edges. Is there anything else I should be doing? Temps are pretty stable around 76F day and 68F night. Humidity 48-55% due to the exhaust cycling.

She's due for a Growth Energy feeding in a couple days.

Thank You

Hey doc bud, I am sorry if this is the wrong place for this question. I purchased an led fixture as I said ( and was informed i can't name them on this site) and since you have used this particular brand that start with P l a t i n u... Anyway, my question is, did you notice during lights off the fixture still has a couple of leds on really dim? If so, what is the point off this? Simulating moon light? I also emailed the company and am waiting on a reply. Thanks!!

Dajerm are you using a digital timer? Some digital timers can leak a little power into the light fixture. I use Eshines which are made exactly the same as the platinums and they do not behave like that.

No sir, using one of those analog timers with all the tabs... You think those could do the same thing? I guess it may be just that, good thinking, so I guess I need a better quality timer?

No dajerm, your timer is OK....the simple mechanical one's are the most reliable. If the timer shuts off like it should ...and does....no voltage should be getting to the light. Easy to test....just pull the plug on the light ....what happens.....now plug it back in to the timer with it off....what do you see. You could also put a voltage tester at the timer output receptacle to test for power as well. Just a note on those digi timers....I tried one once....only once and went down to check on my plants one time and the friggen lights were on when they should have been OFF!!....chucked that timer and went back to the cheap 20 dollar kind...I like them the best...they have NEVER failed me, and are only 20-25 bucks! Cheers D and gang!

I'm with Duggs that timer should be ok. But obviously it is not. See if another timer does the same thing. It probably will not. I had a malfunctioning timer with the tabs and sometimes one of the tabs or another pushed in the off position turned it on random times. So I am untrustful of them but they seem to be the design of choice nowadays.

But hey if the timer is working right no power will get to the light. No power equals no light. So I would find a timer that will work for you. I really like the heavy duty intermatics with the red and blue pins you put on the wheel. Without the pins no contact is made between the wheel and switch.

When I used to have time I would use a nice metal water heater timer and have it directly hooked up to the circuit breaker with a 6ga cord then fastened to plywood with outlets specific for the grow. No need to trust house outlets. About 80-140 bucks plus wiring and outlets.

Nowadays I just bought this Helios lighting controller and used 6ga wiring to connect to the circuit breaker. It uses a 110 timer to trigger the four outlets and is rated to a total of 50A. 130 bucks plus wiring and 120w timer.

Sweet! Thanks for the advice! Ill check that timer with a meter. I also have another I'll check out and see if it does the same or not. Thanks again!

Hey, thanks for your help! Love the time you put into that with pic and all! Thank you so much. Ima check out the other analog timer with tabs that I have and see what it does. Probably check it with my multimeter first though. Thank you again!
