Doc Bud's High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Hey Doc...

Yesterday was day 50 from seed and I transplanted to a 15 gallon smart pot. Compared to your pictures in your In The Lab thread, it looks like I could have let her veg a little longer in the one gallon pot (maybe 1 or 2 more weeks.)

What are your thoughts?

You could have easily gone another two weeks, but there's nothing wrong with transplanting when you did, nothing at all.

My only suggestion is to let them dry out between waterings more. Dry as in they will wilt in 5 minutes if they don't get water. Go ahead and let them wilt once in order to see what your limits are. That will build your roots and stems.

Got a question....

I'm gonna muck around with my DIY CO2 generator today. My friend brews beer and wine, and is going to give me a 5 gallon container, a bubbler, and some high gravity 18% yeast. Should be able to produce CO2 for 2-3 weeks with 11 LBS sugar and 4 gallons water.

My idea is to attach a hose to the bubbler and run it into the grow cabinet.

Of course, every time the exhaust kicks in, it will clear the cabinet of CO2, and I also will have no idea of the concentration in PPM.

I don't know how much of a benefit this DIY would make, but my concern is:

Can it hurt my plant?

Thanks for any input you guys may have. :thanks:

both the cherry pie and cookies & cream are right around 4 1/2 weeks so I'm expecting them to bulk up quite a bit. just finished the cat drench with the cherry pie and actually didn't even cat drench the C&C.. this insane resin started forming a few weeks back so i just stuck to growth energy and watched it thrive :thumb:

I don't see how it could hurt your plant unless it creates humidity problems or something like that. C02 enrichment allows you to run slightly higher temps as long as the environment is optimal, and this trait can be useful in a hot cabinet.

I wouldn't worry about PPM at all. 500 will be helpful. 1000 would probably cause some problems with the plants being too big, but that's unlikely unless your cabinet is really small and your yeast machine is really having a good day. All in all, I'd say it would be a definite benefit to you.

A quick update and a pretty cool announcement:

This is a CloneShipper! I am extremely please to receive some award winning genetics shipped to me in one of these things. As you can see, despite a couple days in the mail, the clone arrived in perfect condition. There are LED's in the lid that keep the clone in veg mode.

Here's a pic of a bud from the recent harvest, washed and nearly dry, but still not manicured. I do not understand why people want all those lovely sugar leaves removed from their buds, but I am thankful they do, as those leaves are the best part of the harvest and I enjoy smoking the sugar leaves more than the flowers.

A quick update on the Gavita side of things.

I've used Clone Shippers a few times. They work really well. The thin batteries for the LED aren't the best and I've heard (through their newsletter), they've improved the battery life as well as added a few other products. They have cloneshippers that can do 2 or 3 plants too. They do them as rooted plugs, so you can avoid the potential mess of loose soil should the rubber gasket come loose (it happens!).

Anyway...looks good up in there.

p.s. I trim for me, so all my nugs look like that untrimmed one. If it's covered with sugar it stays. At least it does on my plants because the end-user likes them just fine too.

The pics above were from Saturday. Here are some from just a few minutes ago.

I'm especially happy with the perky, healthy clone! I love getting quality cuttings from growers who know what the hell they're doing.

Lemon Paki under Advanced 650's: about ready to harvest and then I'll start showcasing these lights in a separate journal.

This is a branch from the bottom of the plant. It gets no direct light.
