Doc Bud's High Brix Q&A With Pictures

That was my first indoor run with the kit and it killed it starting some outdoor in 2nd run soil in 25 gal pots. Last years outdoor was hit hard by caterpillars lost a third of my produce any tips on keeping them off , anybody?
In my experience direct planting in the ground is the best unless your soil is the worst kind. Unlimited root growth and bud will reflect exactly the characteristics of your soil. It takes some experience to adjust it for High Brix, but a lot of issues that come from growing in the pot will cease to exist. Just saying, man.

How saturated are the plants supposed to be when you foliar feed? I did De-Stress last night and I just gave a small spritz. I did not fully soak the plants with spray. By this morning my leaves were looking real nice. I am impressed at how little product I used yet my plants were hella happy.

I'll have to get a DBHB journal going at some point, probably when I switch to flower.

I do dumb shit once in awhile until I get the hang of any hobby, so critique away. Back story is really my light. Cheap Amazon led is being used. I wanted to make sure I was getting good par values so my light was low. This light does not produce that much heat, I reckon I could have it super low to plants without burning, yet I wonder if this allows for less stretching? My larger plant is just a mini bush. I did raise my light about 10in hoping for more stretch so nodes get more light.

This plant sprouted later. I had a sprout fail so these plants are off by 5 days.

I want to impart some groovy photos to future journals. To do this lets have some hassie action. Not yet, but soon.

Gaffle, Nice looking plants! :thumb:
when the birds start chirping.....:) just before lights on, or about light on, I spray enough to start dripping slightly..I let sit for a few minutes, then give a gentle shake of the stem for the xs to be removed. I let the leaves dry pretty much before placing under lights.

From Doc's instructions: "...using a fine mist try to get the underside of the leaves."
I try to spray just until I get a few drips. Brix on top of leaves can burn if too strong a concentration, sprayed too heavily, or when very close to lights.

Hasselblad...very nice. Medium format? 4x5?

edit: On the spraying of foliars, suffice it to say, I'm on my 4th round in the kit and still looking for the sweet spot on spraying so I'm not the one to give advice there. I will say though, I've found less is more. I do know, almost without a doubt, I'm probably spraying a good bit less than others or even ideally, but I was insistent on getting to the end of a grow without completely fucked up leaves (my personal cross...lmao)...which I did accomplish, but the best part is I just jarred my best produce yet. I'll know more as its cure progresses.

Typically, I put 1 ML of foliar in my 2 oz atomizer and sometimes don't even use it all, but I also sprayed every 7-10 days and usually the day after a drench.

I have the a12 back that is 6x6cm (thought it was 4x4). I also have the 16 back which is 6x4.5 but that back gave me light leakage with last round of film...twas a bummer.

I followed the directions from the blog. My ratio was from M. Pita. I did 1ml of destress with 30ml of water. Being my first destress round I did not use it all up. I should buy a better spray bottle for finer mist. I was not very generous with my spray. I mean my plants are still small and it's easy for me to be a spraying jack-ass and get shit everywhere.

Even though I used a small amount the plants definitely responsed very nicely, a real noticeable change occurred. That was done at around 9pm and my lights out is at 11, so by morn everything was cool. Brix will be done tomorrow. Foliar feeding here I come!

Hmmm...
I hope I didn't steer you wrong. My usual mix has always been 0.5 ml Destress per 30 ml of water. I've done Brix at 1.0 ml per 30 ml, but I prefer doing it at half-strength now, as well. I just do it more often.

the 1 ml/oz -that would be the old DeStress dilution

Like I said, I'm following everything from the DBHB blog. I just looked it up and I thought the 1ml was for both brix and destress. No worries, nothing adversely affected my plants. That amount water was perfect for my grow, I had some waste, just not a lot.

I am too new to attempt any tweaking. I must have 1 harvest under my belt before I do my own thing.

Just thought since I posted some Agent Orange in flower I would show some finished DBHBB Agent Orange and Huck Kush nugs. This was my first High Brix run and it certainly convinced me to run many more. After this next harvest I will be exclusively High Brix! Thank you Docbud for producing the continually evolving masterpiece of cannabis artwork that we call DocBud's High Brix kit! The plants I grew this round were some of the most amazing I have ever produced in over two decades of cannafarming.

I was amazed every time I walked into the growroom. I had two freshly loaded carbon filters to take care of the smell! A couple days it wasn't quite enough. Looks like I will be making an order soon so I can have two more kits cooking. I never want to run out of Doc's soil! Oh and my new High Brix Perpetual thread is now in my signature. I will be condensing down to one thread after this cycle is dried and trimmed up.

Harvesting tonite:

The Advanced 650's (2 of 'em over a 3x6 tray) did the job they were supposed to do! Large 4+oz plants with tight nugs from top to bottom. A few trichomes here and there....

coming along nicely are the plants under Gavita 1000e. The one with the yellow is a friends plant that he didn't have room for. Hopefully I can get it to green up and behave properly. It's a Sugar Daddy. I'm not familiar with the strain.

Doc, gorgeous plants as always! I've been reviewing some of your LED journals and wondered if you'd comment on your choice of lights. I'm not asking for you to pick one manufacturer over another, but rather what you look for in a quality light.

You've mentioned "high PAR" before, but what else? Total # of bands? UV, etc.?

I also know that each manuf. has guidelines for distance from light to canopy. Have you experimented with different heights and if so, any generalizations you'd care to make? Thx.

I don't know enough about the various bands and all that to choose a light based on the numbers.

My basic philosophy with all kinds of lighting is to double what they claim it can cover. For example, I was told that 4 Advanced 400's would "amply" cover a 4x8 tray. Well, I used them on a 3x6 tray and felt like I could use more.

I have two Gavita 1000e's covering a 4x8 tray....one on a mover would do the trick.

Massive light, Co2 enrichment and excellent temp and humidity control, coupled with high performance soil, foliar feeding and we're good to go.
