Doc Bud's High Brix Q&A With Pictures

re: Doc Bud - High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Those are some beautiful plants like always man, they look great for just having a sulfur bath. Hope they taste great!

So I mixed my soil and added the 6/5/3 mix but I'm wondering about plants that are in veg stage atm, can I top dress with 6/5/3 to add to it or put it in a tea? or is there no point in adding the mix to already started plants.

If your veg containers are 1 or 2 gallons, and you're transplanting up to a 7 or more gallon container, I'd say not to mess with it and just be sure to really coat the roots with a microbial source and charge the hole with some 6-5-3 along with microbial innoculant.

If you're only going up to 5 gallons, you might do well to top dress the veg containers if they're 2 gallons.

Either way, the plants will benefit from the added minerals! That's the good news.

Hey doc

Can transplant 'go bad'? Planted some new beans last night per your instructions, and this evening poked my head in the tent they are in and whoa it smelled kinda weird musky footy smell. Smelled the soil and it smells weird not the normal earthy yum yum smell of cooked kit soil (love that smell!). Not sure what to think. I suppose I'll see how the seedlings develop. Maybe it's the combo of transplant and root zone? The last two I germed a month ago didn't make a weird smell either.

Also, I have a girl in 12/12 since 10/24, leaves looked great before last watering with transplant, but now I got some wicked leaf claw on the new growth. Bottom leaves look very brixy happy shiny, but new leaves no. Very much like Any2's. I was just gonna follow your advice for him, flood first then feed transplant, but kinda tripping on the smell. Anyway thanks doc, I have a veg girl going that's so freakin happy brixy looking leaves like all the other epic kit grows I'm PSYCHING.

EDIT

Transplant definitely went bad.

Tripping so hard on this smell went to smell the last of the transplant I was using, kinda normal stinky shoyu but actually a bit sharp almost wine/vinegarish. Went to smell new bottle of transplant from new kit and whoa, way fresher shoyu smell not nearly as sharp almost sweet, much nicer. Fak me.

Is this round of baby's fucked?! I could tell the stench coming from those new pots didn't smell too earthy fresh. Unless you got a good fix or a relax it will be ok I'm gonna have to dump these and start another round pronto.

Thinking I'm gonna dig those beans outta that soil and replant in fresh with new transplant.

also just realized I put that shit on my flowering girl too. Would that account for the leaf claw?? Possible solution: Massive flush and re inoculate with fresh transplant and tea?

Mahalo,
Missing the shoyu smell....

Mahalo,
Missing the shoyu smell....

I've not had mine go bad yet....but I store it in a cool, dry place. Shelf life is over a year if stored properly.

I think you'll be OK with a good watering. Send me a PM or email and we'll get some fresh stuff out to you pronto. If you got some Roots or Tea mixed in things could definitely go bad....but as long as you're storing the products the same way you would store food that doesn't need refrigeration you should be fine.

I'll expedite your shipping so you can feed 'em again. But I think you'll be OK.

Thanks for letting me know! I'm in what I thought were the final stages of "upgrading" the kit to something commercial, with labels, etc. I'm just gathering data and logging trouble so I can make sure to package/document everything properly before I go live, etc.

It's much more work than I thought it would be......and thanks to growers like you and several others I've learned plenty!

re: Doc Bud - High Brix Q&A With Pictures

When top dressing a five gal pot for the first time with 6-5-3 how much do you recommend? I also added myco's with 1 liter of warm water to each pot. They have always gotten bennies. How late into the 12/12 grow would this not beneficial?

My Transplant went bad during the summer. Temps didn't get past 80, so I think I cross-contaminated mine with Tea. I was using a dropper on both and may have gotten careless rinsing it. Now I pour doses into a measuring tube.

The first time I did it was in like week 6 of bloom on a whole tray of OG Kush. I put about 1/4 cup per 7 gallon pot. Probably way too much in hindsight, but the results were such that I've never looked back.

Good idea with the warm water....wakes the little beasties up.

Cross contamination is what did it!

I'll send you some more (free) if you pay shipping. About 5 bucks.....Let me know.

re: Doc Bud - High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Not me, you already did that in my last order. :cheesygrinsmiley: Thanks!

re: Doc Bud - High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Ya, that was over a month ago. Also, thanks for the quick ship over the weekend. :thumb:

re: Doc Bud - High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Ahhhhh yes cross contamination I've used the same syringe for a couple things, I've tried to rinse between use but now I have a couple designated ones. There's my problem! Ill shoot you and email or PM for some extra transplant doc - thanks!

Glad the babies will be ok, I'm gonna hit them with fresh transplant and tea to try to get the soil all happy with some good microbe buddies.

For the flowering girl I think a monsoon and some energy/tea will do! So stoked on the kit and my grow. I'm starting my journal tonight I'll drop a link for anyone who wants to swing by!

Thanks Doc, I was wondering what you saw and how soon after adding the SRP? I think I might be wishing for more trichs and they seem to appear Haha, strange I know.

Yep.....I should make a warning regarding that in the instructions......

Tea is so friggin strong....just a tiny splash will contaminate the whole thing.

You won't notice much right away. The rocks need to be digested first.

There are two immediate benefits:

1. your pH is now LOCKED at 6.4 nothing short of pool acid or bleach will change that
2. you should have some very sick and unhappy bugs leaving the pots
