Beautiful Doc!!! Always a treat to swing by and get my salivary glands going!!! Always amazing!!!

re: Doc Bud - High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Man Doc, those buds are amazing!!!! What strain is that massive cola??

That massive cola is one of perhaps 15 I could have shot. It's Tahoe OG, grown low-brix style. Last round I grew it in high brix soil and the results were such that no one, including me, could see anything "OG" about it. This time the yield is stellar and the smell is delicate and complex.....but it's all OG baby! Resin is getting quite thick on the actual buds, not so much on the leaves. But this one is going to be good.

Ah...yes...she is outstanding, and still not done ...eh Doc? She's the T. OG!How will you get some more resin out of her? Got any ideas?

I think over the next two weeks we'll see some pretty extraordinary bud swelling and frosting.....at least I hope.

I'm still learning how to grow the hydro strains in mineralized soil. The addition of high P bat guano, K-mag and doubling up on epsom salt has helped. The same treatment would ruin other strains I'm growing......

Morning Doc! You have me a little nervous ,in saying you are still learning to grow "hydro" strains in mineralized soil!Is my next strain,MK Ultra one of these? It is part OG...part G13 from TH seeds.I don't want any guess work...or very little. That's why i' decided to go with your "kit" after all. I have way too many yrs. Fu......ng around with a little of this ,some of that...maybe this will work etc.I am, and plan to continue to follow your instructions and advise. I have very high hopes for this next grow!Later...Duggan.

He's trying to tweak it to get that classic og high salt flavor. I grow a diesel strain very often in my kit, its fantastic. The 2 I have going now are by far the best plant's I have grown. It gets a more profound citrus flavor than gassy. I prefer it to be honest ;)

Put your mind at ease!

The kit will grow that MK Ultra into a potent, sticky, gorgeous mess of buds and resin.

It might not turn out exactly like it would if grown in hydro.....which is the whole point of high brix gardening. We're trying to get something better, different, healthier, etc.

The "problem" comes about when you have a legendary strain like OG Kush, that has unique flavor and aroma that everyone has come to love and enjoy. Well, many of us know that OG is a heavy, heavy "feeder," meaning it thrives in high salts. (Probably why it is such a legend, it grows well in 1990's hydroponic technology, as opposed to other strains that don't do well in a high salt environment.)

Well, OG isn't the same plant in High Brix. Actually NONE of the strains are the same in high brix.....mostly they're way, way better. But you'll notice some differences in the terpene profile, meaning they'll smell different, etc. People---and I'm one of these people---love and desire "old school" OG taste and flavor......which I've had zero luck producing with the kit.

So, I'm ruining my soil in an effort to grow some OG that has at least a strong hint at conventional flavor.

You'll grow some superb buds with the kit. Don't sweat it! After a couple runs, you'll be familiar with how it all works and then you'll be able to put a bit of intuition back into your gardening skill set.....but only after you've gotten familiar with everything.

A great example of what I'm talking about can be found in the evolution of Curso, Steppenwolf and my own use of the kit. We started off following directions, LOVED what we saw and are now making small changes that are having large impacts.

You won't do better than following directions for the first couple grows. The directions are already updated to reflect the experience of several of the people using the kit, not all of them online here.

Once you get the feel for everything, just view yourself as a chef working with ingredients. We're using the highest quality ingredients and many of them are very powerful tools, like Bloomit and the Cat drench. Just like a chef uses spices, herbs, salt, wine, seasonings....we're basically doing the same thing with gardening!

Start off following the recipe, and once you get familiar you can put your own flair and taste to it! You just have to get the basic principles down and experience how it all works together.

Thanks Curso and Doc. You know how i feel...you have both been here. Thanks for puting my mind at ease some what. It's not like i just started growing...know what i mean. When i found this journal, and other info on HI Brix i knew i stumbled on alot of very valuable info that couldn't be ignored! The practice you all have ,will for sure help so many, just like myself...many thanks! Duggan.

Man I love that fat cola on the OG. For a minute I thought it was your infamous Champagne. I never grow tired of seeing pics of that plant. Thanks for the kind words above. I am happy as hell with the high brix plants and I a real happy with the results.

I am starting to think the latest round of laughing Buddha is stronger than ever. What am I typing?

re: Doc Bud - High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Ok doc quick question? Do you go into the finishing pot following the 1 gallon starter pot? And do you go straight to flower on the transplant to final container?

I go from cloning tray to one or two gallon pots, depending on how long they need to veg. Much of this is guesswork.

Upon transplanting into the final 7 gallon pots I prune them the first time for bloom, take clones if appropriate and put them in the flower room.

Ah......you must have done a good job growing that LB! Champagne is indeed looking good this round, but I'm most pleased with the OG. This round is going to produce gigantic, bulbous buds with delicate but unmistakeable OG flavor. Next round I think I'll get a bit stronger flavor by using more epsom salt and perhaps one guano tea application. BTW, I'm tossing the OG soil after just one round because it's completely ruined for anything but OG now. But I am very pleased with the result! Even the GSC is smelling like it should.
